JQuery :: Resetting A Function - Setting A Readonly Input With A Value Depending Upon If It Is Checked On/off
Oct 2, 2009
This is probably noobalicious so apologies, i have a checkbox i am checking on and off and then setting a readonly input with a value depending upon if it is checked on/off
This works fine for one click on or off but then how do i get back out of the function once this cycle has been done once? Set something to null?

I am trying to write a Javascript function that checks whether certain checkboxes are checked or not, and then hides cells in a table if the corresponding checkbox is not checked, and makes cells visible if the corresponding checkbox is checked.
This is what I have so far:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<script language="JavaScript">
[Code]....
The above html gives a (3 rows x 2 columns) table where the checkbox in cell 1x1 (row1,column1) starts checked and corresponding cell 1x2 is visible - as required. However when checking or unchecking any of the checkboxes (which should run the javascript) the cell visibility is not changed.

In my asp page, I have a dropdown box and 2 textbox. The dropdown has "select" as the first value. If value is select in the dropdown, i want to make the textbox as readonly, else it can be used for inputting.
I tried this:
Code:
function OnChange(dropdown)
{
var myindex = dropdown.selectedIndex;
var SelValue = dropdown.options[myindex].value;
[Code].....
But, I am not able to set to readonly. How to make textbox readonly on the select change and body onload?

Here are two examples, you will need to goto the link andclick on "Add New Customer" on the right hand side.This one works:This is the code (it sets the property to checked and visually appears checked):
$(document).ready(function()
{
$("#activey").prop("checked", true);

There are two ways for me to make a input field readonly:
1)hardcoding:
In a JSP, I use <input type="text" id="test" readonly="readonly" value="1234abc" />
The field will become readonly--I can not edit the text in the field. This is what I wanted.
2) Dynamical:
But sometimes I need to achieve this at the runtime/dynamically:
Now in the javascript:
The field will display as readonly. However, I can actually highlight the text, delete and edit it.

I'm working on a site where we display two lists of boats, sail or power via the organic tabs plugin. Now, our client wants us to show one list type by default depending on the class of the body tag - for example, if the user was on a sailing boat page, the body would have a class of 'sailPage' and therefore the list that would be shown by default would be the 'sail list' - and vice versa for the power (although be default this one shows first anyways as it is the first 'panel' in the HTML') In my admittedly rather clumsy way, I've written the following jQuery function which does seem to work (well, the first half) - however when the user clicks back on to the 'power' tab whilst on page with a class of 'sail', the power list doesn't display. There also seems to be a problem in IE7 where the content of the lists will not display until you select the other tab first, and then select the second tab again?
<div
id
=
"sailOrPower"

Folks, I'm no real coder however I am the "IT" guy for a non-profit. We have a registration form in which we have a few readonly fields that are numerically auto-populated by input into other fields. We need to total those readonly fields and though the function we have works(if we allow input and use the onkeyup event,) we can't find an event that will work with readonly fields. So, is there a means to trigger the function when readonly fields are auto-populated?

I'm trying to dynamically set which radio button is checked with javascript. Since the radio buttons need to be named the same in order to act mutually exclusive (if you check one, the other one unchecks), I'm not sure how I can choose one to check.[code]

I'm trying to set up an form validation through ajax and php. My goal is to have the php script called after the user stops typing, but without the need to exit the field (so, I don't want to use onChange or onBlur). I would like to use an "onKeypress" (or onKeyup/onKeydown) command with a delay (setTimout) of about a second or so. This way, the php script will not be called on every key stroke, but once the user pauses typing long enough for the setTimout to expire, and only then will it call the php script and perform the validation check.
Part of the script I'm having problems with is resetting the setTimout after each key stroke. I've got this much working:
Code:
<script>
function execute() {
setTimeout("validate()", 1000);
}
[Code]....
how to properly reset the timer after key strokes?

I am writing an accounting sofware, and I have difficulties with the form used to enter the debit and credit for a given transaction. I have used the Jquery validation plugin demo, but I don't know how to hide a specific input cell and replace it by blanks. In accounting, you have either a credit or a debit. So I have an indicator tick box at the beginning of each line which defines whether the line is a debit or credit, and if so it hides the credit cell or debit cell.

I run this function to swap class names when there is a mouseover event on an image with the ID "ltr". How would I run this same function but to occur when, for example, a variable "distance" was equal to 0? Basically, if distance = 0 then swap class names

Within a classic asp webform (using vbscript) I would like part of the form (input boxes within table structure) to be specific/displayed depending on the users selection from the combo box in the row above.
I think the best solution would be using Javascript can anyone suggest a solution or example code?

I'm currently developing an online work brief, where the user has to
enter details regarding the project into a form. I've come to a section
in the form where the user has the option of selecting between two
checkboxes and an input element. I have to ensure that at least one of
the checkboxes have been checked or that the input element is not
empty. I've come up with this function:
function validateMedia(){
var count = 0;
if(document.workBrief.mediaOnline.checked){
count++;
}
if(document.workBrief.mediaPrint.checked){
count++;
}
if(document.workBrief.mediaOther.value != ""){
count++;
}
if(count 0){
return true;
}else{
alert('Please choose at least one media option');
return false;
}}
I'm sure there is a more effiecient way of writing this.
