I'm getting a value from the database either true/false. I have a alert box that shows it being true/false. I want a checkbox to be checked if true else not. Here is the line of code that I have and it just automatically checks everytime, which I obviously don't want.
$('#returnableCheckbox').attr('checked', $(selectedPlatform).find ('.equipmentReturnable').val())

I have two grids, they both display buttons. One grid displays numbers, true or false and yes or no, and the other grid displays letters, true, false, yes and no.
The second grid is not displayed in the code (used css to not display second grid buttons (.answerBtns)) Now using the getButtons() function, if the user selects button "1" in first grid (the grid which you have to open using (Open Grid) link, then it should display button "A" in second grid, if user selects button "2" in first grid, then it should displays buttons "A" and "B" in second grid, if "3" then display "A", "B" and "C" and so on.
Now except using if statements and stating which buttons should be displayed and not displayed depending on the button chosen in first grid, is there a more efficent way of coding this so that the display of buttons in second grid depends on what is selected in the first grid?
If it is using an array can somebody show a sample of this in their answer. You can just do it for one example and then I should be able to use that to fill it for the other buttons.

I am trying to write a Javascript function that checks whether certain checkboxes are checked or not, and then hides cells in a table if the corresponding checkbox is not checked, and makes cells visible if the corresponding checkbox is checked.
This is what I have so far:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<script language="JavaScript">
[Code]....
The above html gives a (3 rows x 2 columns) table where the checkbox in cell 1x1 (row1,column1) starts checked and corresponding cell 1x2 is visible - as required. However when checking or unchecking any of the checkboxes (which should run the javascript) the cell visibility is not changed.

I'm currently developing an online work brief, where the user has to
enter details regarding the project into a form. I've come to a section
in the form where the user has the option of selecting between two
checkboxes and an input element. I have to ensure that at least one of
the checkboxes have been checked or that the input element is not
empty. I've come up with this function:
function validateMedia(){
var count = 0;
if(document.workBrief.mediaOnline.checked){
count++;
}
if(document.workBrief.mediaPrint.checked){
count++;
}
if(document.workBrief.mediaOther.value != ""){
count++;
}
if(count 0){
return true;
}else{
alert('Please choose at least one media option');
return false;
}}
I'm sure there is a more effiecient way of writing this.

$('#add').change(function(){

What you can see is that I have a bunch of images which form a chart, each of the images has multiple classes.I want to write a function which when called fades in/out images dependant on whether all related checkboxes are checked or not.Checkboxes are related to the images by id on the checkbox and class on the image, as I'm sure you can see. I will be calling this method each time a checkbox is checked.

I have a simple check box in an admin panel where the idea is that if it is checked then 'display' a div on the page, if it is not checked then hide it.When I tick the checkbox, the div shows up, but then disappears right away. (it does the fade-in display:block, but instantly changes back to display:none).

I have on submit code that is checking to see if a field has any data. If not, some date fields are updated with generic data. The if statement does what I want it to do with the date fields, but it is overwritting what I have in the field that I am checking with either true or false. I don't understand why this would happen as I am not changing the value of this field with the code, just checking to see if there is a null/blank value.
Code:
if ((document.forms.Master.TrainAssocCourse2.value=null||document.forms.Master.TrainAssocCourse2.value=="")){

I am just wanting to use Java to change one value in my code for my project but after having gone through the basics on the web, i seem no closer to finding the solution.I am wanting one JavaScript effect of 'onmouseover' to change the autostart value to 'true' when the preceeding img element is hovered on and to go back to 'false' for onmouseout. I was hoping i'd be able to work out a simple application for an if statement but am now unsure if i'll be able to work it out.Does anyone know a simple javascript that will do the trick?
<p><a class="photo" title="video" href="head.jpg"><img class="mini" src="head.jpg" width="100" height="75" />
<img class="big" src="head.jpg" width="100" height="75" /></p>

I know from scouring the Web that this is a very common Javascript question, but I have a twist on the question which is giving me headaches, and I hope some of the brilliant minds here at DaniWeb can help show me the error of my ways.
Say a user has checked a checkbox when submitting a form. I have a PHP script that records that check in a MySQL record. Later when they visit the page, the PHP script shows the checkbox as being checked. That's all working fine.
Now here's what I'm TRYING to do: Since the checkbox is checked when the page loads, I want a certain div to show up. And when the user UNchecks the checkbox, I want the div to go away. Simple, right?
Here's the Javascript I've placed in the header:
In the CSS, I've styled a div thusly:
And here's what I'm doing in the <body>:
This should show up when you click Yellow Box. And it should go away when you click it again. </div>
When I uncheck the checkbox (first click), nothing happens: the div still shows up.
Then when I re-check the checkbox (second click), the div goes away.
And then when I un-check the checkbox again (third click), the div comes back.
In other words, it's doing the OPPOSITE of what I want.
It seems that when I click the checkbox the first time (to uncheck it), the Javascript pulls an empty value. Only with the second click is it finding a value ('none').

i'm unable to do this with jQuery 1.6 but it works fine with jQuery 1.5.2 :
$('#comment-content')
.delegate('#chkb-status-review,#chkb-status-validate','change',function(){
$('#chkb-status-review,#chkb-status-validate').attr('checked',false);
$(this).attr('checked',true);
})
No error, just not working. Maybe i'm doing something wrong
