How does one take the selected text in a textarea dn replace it with something else?
like id like to be able to wrap words for markup innit:
this is an [ b]example[/b] sentence

all I can seem to find on the web regarding selecting text are scripts for select text off page, but never from within an input field.
I want to change words in other words with script. For example: All the word "Post" will be replaced in "Webdeveloper.com" and etc... How is that possible? I not want use with:
"javascript: document.body.contentEditable = 'true'; document.designMode = 'on'; void"
I'm having an issue with doing a simple js task. I have a list of hyperlinks that contain various paths. For instance:

What I need is to remove the term "content" from all the hyperlinks in it's contain div. There is got to be a simple way of doing this and I can't seem to find the right direction. I also need to have the targets changed as well, which I was able to complete.

I'm just wandering, how can you stop the replace() function from replacing characters inside a word, such as, if I try to replace 'x' with 'and', then my string would go from 'example, x' to 'eandample, and'.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right

I have a web form. I use a simple function to generate a letter ouput based on the form fields and populate them into a word doc for printing. Below is a basic example, but you get the idea.

Note this is only intended to be used on IE8. As it stands, the ouput generates and formats exactly as I want bar two things:
1) Does anyone know how I can get some of the text to bold? I've tried everything I can think of (html tags, escape characters etc etc). Is there a way to open a word window in rtf perhaps?
2) Does anyone know how I can insert a small image (a signature in gif or jpg) into the document?
I can use a browser window instead of word, which formats, bolds, images etc, however I then get the issue of headers/footers when printing. I cannot disable headers everytime I want to print a letter, it's not practical.
I'm trying to create a list of prices where the cost is tabbed across so they all line up...
I'm sure there is an easy way of doing that's better than I have so far.

I am very able to restrict char length by using substr() but this means that in some cases the word gets cut off in the middle of it.

I find most rich internet text editors, developers put in the product many many features but fail to make a decent undo redo mechanism, I pressed crtl+z they deleted my whole paragraph. Unlike googledocs's one, it knows exactly what to undo.
If anyone can let me know what the logic of google docs/Ms word machanism is, maybe I can give it shot building one.

My current code below will load the word the user inputs and makes it bounce around the canvas as well as a text spinner. However, whenever the user inputs a second word, the bounce below stops to start a new one and the text spinner messes up. so when the user inputs another word, that it either reloads a new textspinner or adds another one, as well as just add the word to the canvas without stopped the old one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything.To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
