Replacing Specific Word / Term In HREF Path

Mar 1, 2010

I'm having an issue with doing a simple js task. I have a list of hyperlinks that contain various paths. For instance:
a href="[URL]
a href="[URL]

What I need is to remove the term "content" from all the hyperlinks in it's contain div. There is got to be a simple way of doing this and I can't seem to find the right direction. I also need to have the targets changed as well, which I was able to complete.
window.onload = function(){

var anchors = document.getElementById('containerDiv').getElementsByTagName('a');
var links = "content";
for (var i=0; i<anchors.length; i++){
anchors[i].setAttribute('target', '_blank');
} }

Finding Specific HTML And Replacing It

Jun 11, 2010

I'm trying to create a piece of code that will check a webpage and replace any instances of a specific line of HTML with another line of HTML. The code I have so far doesn't work, but I have a feeling that's down to my awful Javascript skills! For example, in the following code I'd want to replace all instances of
<li><a href="index.pdf">Index</a></li> with <li><a href="contents.pdf">Contents</a></li>

<div id="downloads">
<p>Please click on your downloads below:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="index.pdf">Index</a></li>
<li><a href="chapter1.pdf">Chapter 1</a></li>
<li><a href="chapter2.pdf">Chapter 2</a></li>
<li><a href="chapter3.pdf">Chapter 3</a></li>
<li><a href="credits.pdf">Credits</a></li>
</ul>
</div>

The Javascript I have so far is:
<script type="text/javascript">
var aEls = document.getElementsByTagName('a');
for (var i = 0, aEl; aEl = aEls[i]; i++) {
aEl.href = aEl.href.replace('index.pdf','contents.pdf');
}
Obviously this is meant to just replaces the a href elements, but I got a bit stuck after this!

Add Search Term To Form?

Aug 1, 2011

I have been working with different codes to get a search form working with a database.I have a search form based on drop down option values, what I would like to do is select a "company" and append the search term to the company's value.E.G the form would be something like:

<option value="http://url?term=valueisfromsearch&folder=Company Name">Company</option>

There will be a free text area which will allow users to input their search term but need this go feed into the above value of "valueisfromsearch". Upon submit, the user will be presented with their results in their browser.Is this possible mid-URL? I've seen info on Javascript Query String Parameters but don't really understand it that well.

JQuery :: Href In Output Code Causing $getJson() Function To Try To Load Up A File With Href In Url

I'm using this with jQuery UI .tab() to create a listing with entries which have three tabs. Anyhow, the principle seems to work except that when I examine what's happening behind the scenes using Firefox console, I see that each href in the html code produced is causing the Json function to re-fire using the href as it's url target.
