Remove Onclick Event From Checkbox Nested Within H2?
Jul 10, 2010
I have the following javascript for an 'accordian' style html widget.
Code:
var accordionItems = new Array();
function init(id) {
// Grab the accordion items from the page
[Code].....
I have nested checkboxes within each <h2> but I need them to behave independently of the onclick event that is set to the <h2> in the javascript.
In other words, when I select a checkbox, I don't want the onlick event to trigger.

I have created two onClick events that i need to combine into one with jQuery. I have an unordered list:
Code:
<ul id="coverTabs">
<li class="currentTab"><a href="#">Individual</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Couple</a></li>
[code].....
So the active tab is set in the HTML to Individual by default.The following jQuery sets the active depending on which one is clicked.
Code:
$('ul#coverTabs > li').live('click', function() {
// Clickable tabs
// Removes default class applied in HTML and onClick adds 'currentTab' class
[code]....
what i want to achieve is when a user clicks a tab we call the XML document. The appropriate tab name is fetched and subsequently when a user clicks on a column under that tab the appropriate level cost data is displayed on the page.

I have two div elements (both dynamically created, one within the other). The parent div has an event attached to it:
contextmenuDIV.onmouseout = function () {doSomething()}
for example. However the onmouseout event will fire when you mouseover the child div as (of course) I am technically leaving the div layer (despite it being the parent).
Is there anyway to cancel this? I've read all about bubbling and all that, but it's just confusing me even more!
Anyway, at all, to allow me to have divs within another div element but only allow the event to fire for the parent!

I have a vertical navigation menu with the basics (a <ul> with four <li>) but I need one of these list elements to slide to the left and when it finishes show or slide down a nested <ul> with its own li that is now hidden with display: none. and when I click again the first list element I wish everything to close back. or alternatively to close with a timeout. so far I got to this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gioca").click(function(){
$("#gioca").animate({ left: "+=400" }, 1200)

I am making a system whereby if an element has a class "editable", you can click it and a popup box appears with some options about that particular element. Fairly straightforward, I'm using [code]...
This works fine but I need to be able to have lots of different divs, all with class "editable", some of which are inside others with class "editable". Like this [code]...
However, clicking on the 'somethingelse' div, triggers the click correctly but also triggers it for the parent 'something' div, so I end up with the popup box appearing twice.
Does anyone know how to just catch a click event on the exact div (without using ids) without triggering the parent?

Is there a generic way to fire an event when the state/value of a checkbox is changed by another event - i.e. not a user action. In this scenario, I have a set of checkboxes with a "select all" checkbox. I have the code written such that checking or unchecking the "select all" checkbox updates the state of all of the checkboxes below.
The extra requirement here is that some of these checkboxes have "children". So, when you check one of these, its children are automatically checked as well. So, what I need to do is check the main "select all" checkbox, which would then check all of the immediate children, which would then check all of their immediate children. I tried both an onchange and onclick event, but neither seem to be firing.

I have nested markup like this
Code HTML4Strict:
<li><span></span></li>
I have different click functions, one attached to the li and the other to the span.
When I click on the span they both run. Ending the span's event handler with return false; prevented that from happening, which is what I want. But I'm not sure I understand why it worked.. I know, for example, if I was clicking on an anchor, return false would stop the browsers default action of following the href value. Same for submitting a form, return false will stop this. I don't think I understand why this would stop a completely different function from being triggered..

I want to make it so that when I click on something, it changes what document.onclick does.
This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do:
Code:
<div id="clickme" onclick="document.onclick = function(){ alert ('This should not be alerted on the first click'); }">Click here</div>
However, as you'll notice, the alert box shows up on the first click as well. The only way I have been able to get around this behaviour is to have the first onclick execute a timer that will then set the document.onclick after 1ms, however this seems very messy to me.

if you have a form with pre-checked radio or checkbox elements it is not possible to remove the checked states neither with
$('#id').attr('checked', false);
//or
$('#id').attr('checked', '');
nor with
$('#id').removeAttr('checked');
If the elements are not pre-checked but you check them with mouse click - it works as expected. Background: I have a search form which is prefilled based on previous selections and queries but I need a reset button to clear all checkboxes and fields.

currently on our site we have and expanding <div> that responds to both the onmouseover and onmouseout events. It works wonderfully.
The UX people now would like the expanding <div> to open with the onclick event and then as soon as the mouse leaves the expanded div, it would close. I have tried using the onmouseout event in conjunction the onclick event but it does not work (the div persists).

I have some code that I want to implement on a page.
I've got a form field (SuppRegFee) that I would like to interact with
using a checkbox. When the user clicks the checkbox, javascript
populates the form field with a dollar amount ($1100). I've got that
part working just great:
PHP Code:
<input type="checkbox" name="Yes" value="Yes" onClick="SuppRegFee.value='$1100'" onUnClick="SuppRegFee.value=''"><br><b>Supplier Registration Fee:</b><br><input name="SuppRegFee" value="" size="5">
However, what I also want is that when the user UNCHECKS the box, the
total vanishes. Javascript offers the onClick method, but there appears
to be no "OnUnClick" method. How might I go about getting this to work
for me?

I would like to avoid using parent divs if possible; basically I would like to remove and add a div onclick. Is there a method that's comparable to removeChild, but functions as "remove()"?
