I have the following javascript for an 'accordian' style html widget.
Code:
var accordionItems = new Array();
function init(id) {
// Grab the accordion items from the page
[Code].....
I have nested checkboxes within each <h2> but I need them to behave independently of the onclick event that is set to the <h2> in the javascript.
In other words, when I select a checkbox, I don't want the onlick event to trigger.

I'm working on a image slider, which will slide left to right and vice versa on mouser over event. the images are dynamically loaded from the database using ASP script. I use mootools.svn.js for the sliding implementation. and Ajax to pass the id of the image to another page as a query string. this is implemented in a onclick="getValue('<%= id %>')" event. This works fine in IE8, but when I test in Firefox 3.6 and Chrome the onclick event doesn't work. when I comment the mootools.svn.js, the onclick event get fired.

I'm using a script (with inner HTML), to swap currencies. My onClick event calls two scripts to change the content of two cells. It works fine in IE, but Firefox... Nothing. I've run firebug, the error returned is "illegal character".

I want to make it so that when I click on something, it changes what document.onclick does.
This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do:
Code:
<div id="clickme" onclick="document.onclick = function(){ alert ('This should not be alerted on the first click'); }">Click here</div>
However, as you'll notice, the alert box shows up on the first click as well. The only way I have been able to get around this behaviour is to have the first onclick execute a timer that will then set the document.onclick after 1ms, however this seems very messy to me.

currently on our site we have and expanding <div> that responds to both the onmouseover and onmouseout events. It works wonderfully.
The UX people now would like the expanding <div> to open with the onclick event and then as soon as the mouse leaves the expanded div, it would close. I have tried using the onmouseout event in conjunction the onclick event but it does not work (the div persists).

I have the following:
[Code]...
This button should remove the current <div> and replace it with another <div>. My hide() and show() are as follows:
[Code]...
I would like to avoid using parent divs if possible; basically I would like to remove and add a div onclick. Is there a method that's comparable to removeChild, but functions as "remove()"?

I have a side menu that I have added an onclick statement to, which will change the css class for that item to "selected" so that I can apply styles for the selected link. Here is what I have:
HTML Code:
<style type="text/css">
<!--
.selected {[code]....
How can I modify this so, after one selection is clicked, and you click something else, the class gets removed from the first clicked item, and is now applied to the newly clicked item? I only want the class applied to the currently clicked item, and removed when they click on another item.

From my understanding the main feature of unobtrusive JavaScript is to remove event handing from the markup.The main reason for doing this is to avoid repetition of code.There are also other reasons but that is the main one. e.g. no having to write <tag onclick="function()" > over and over again. This traditional event handling method makes code less maintainable.However is it worth writing unobtrusive code when we consider the following:
1, Server sider scripting laguages can be used to avoid code repetition. e.g. we can use a loop to add multiple onclick event handlers to all the elements of a navigation list. Thus we would only have to write onclick="function()" once.
2, Unobtrusive coding makes the code harder to follow.It is easier to look at the markup to find out what happens when an event occurs on an element rather than having to look through wades of JS code to find the correct event listener. This is especially true when a team is working on a project. It is easier to find out what another person has done when the traditional model of event handling is used.
3, Unobtrusive coding means longer and more complicated code. Also there there is a need for having to deal with browser differences.I know this can be reduced using libraries such as JQuery. Is it worth using such a library?

I am trying to use onclick to add text to a textarea, the function I am using is:
function addtxt(input,add) {
var obj=document.getElementById(input)
var txt=document.createTextNode(add)
obj.appendChild(txt)
}
and the line that I use to call the function - through php- is:
<a onclick="addtxt('post','$code');">
<img src="smiles/$smile" alt="$smilename" border="0" style="cursor: pointer;"></a>
it seems to work in IE but not in firefox, why is that?

I have some onClick events in <a href...> elements, so they get called
when a user clicks on a link. This works well, and looks like this:
<a onclick="onLinkClick(123);" href="......">foo</a>
Unfortunately, if a user opens the link in a new tab (e.g right
click->open in new tab), my onLinkClick function does NOT get called.
This happens with Firefox (various versions, including the latest one -
1.5.0.1).
Does anyone know if there is a way to work around that and catch even
the "open in new tab" clicks/events?

I've got some PHP and javascript working together to create a
marginless image popup from another arbitrary image. This works
perfectly in Firefox, but IE bombs and I'm not really knowledgable
about Javascript to be able to tell immediately why. Here's the
relevant code from the page:
<a href="#"
onClick="window.open('http://www.somesite.com/popup.php?image=popup.jpg',
'popup', 'width=737,height=492, directories=no, location=no,
menubar=no, scrollbars=no, status=no, toolbar=no, resizable=no,
top=300, left=300'); return false" style="cursor:pointer"><img
