JQuery :: Remove Div On Hover Off?
Feb 20, 2011The aim of the exercise is to be able to hover over a hyperlink in a dataview table and load the content of one of that page's paragraphs into a div (#notes) on the current page (I may want to load that into a tooltip later but I'll walk before I can run!) and then when I hover off the hyperlink, the loaded content is removed again.I'm using a combination of .hover and .load to load the paragraph and the first part works fine - hover on and the content from the page appears in the div. However when I hover off, instead of removing the content, it loads it again instead - so instead of an on/off effect, it just spawns more and more of the same content.
I'm not sure it matters but I'm doing this in SharePoint 07 and have put the code in a content editor webpart for simplicity. I've substituted the actual page url for 'myurl' below but in practice this part of the code seems to work ok - it's the mouse out portion which doesn't seem to work.If what I want is possible, can you see what is wrong with my code?

Apr 6, 2011I've a function for my search form. Basically when you click on the form box where it says "Enter your search here" this value disapears when you click in the box. When you click out the box it re adds the value. It works if you click return on the keyboard and performs the search no problem. However if you click the search button with the mouse it removes the search term and replaces it back with "Enter your search here". This obviously will not return the search.
Anyone know how I can fix this so this does not happen on the mouse click?
I've used jsfiddle to add the html and javascript but it is not working in there, but works if you add it to dreamweaver and look at it within a browser. [URL]

JQuery :: Stopping A Click Event With Another Click Event?
Nov 23, 2010I would like to create a plugin that I can put before a click event on a button. The click event should occur if the user's time on the page hasn't expired. The plugin should check the user's time, and then stop the click event if the time has expired. With the plugin, I'm essentially putting two click events on the same button, as I need to check the expiration when the button is clicked. The plugin is working on my test page, but I'm afraid that this is contingent on an arbitrary ordering of the click events by jQuery. If I have my click event chained after my plugin, can I be assured that the plugin would always stop the click event if the time is expired? Or could jQuery execute the click event before the time gets checked?

Aug 30, 2008I am trying to use a if not statement but trying to use the condition of jquery hover. I have an image and when you put your mouse over it another image appears this image that appears using css would be a menu look however I notice that when I move my mouse off the image to the menu image that appears when your mouse is over the persons image it would then fade away.
Clients image when mouse is over the image another image appears the new image that appears is a menu image with buttons on it this was created in html and position with css so it appears next to the persons image. The problem I have is when you move your mouse off the users image to put it on that menu the menu would fade back out. So I want to make a if not stating that if the mouse is not on the user image or the menu that appears then you fade out. How can I do this??

Jan 23, 2011I've run into a problem with swapping images for site navigation.The "hover" part works just fine, but the problem lies within the click part. When the user clicks the first thing that happens is to reset all of the images for all of the links, and then set the hover image for the link that was clicked. However it seems that after resetting all of the images 'src' attributes, the code for setting the link that was clicked either doesn't execute, or executes before the reset.

Apr 8, 2011I have no idea if this is even possible, but I thought I'd check here to see what anyone thinks.I have a top nav on my site that has dropdown submenus. When a user clicks on one of the sub-menu items, jQuery toggles a div in the main content area to be visible.The problem is that since I am using CSS hover menus, the menu remains over top of the div that was activated in the background.I know that I could do a normal page load instead of show/hide this div, but I'm wondering if there is another way. Before I go another direction, I wanted to see if anyone had an alternative.
EDIT: Maybe something using .focus()? But then maybe I need to rebuild my menu to allow this, because simply adding focus to the div doesn't seem to do it.

I've used the hover event and I've created 2 functions:one for the growing effect used on the over status and the other one for the reduce effect used on the out status.In IE 7 I've got this error: the growing function is working but the reduction function is not working at all the error code on javascript it's only "Invalid property value".

Jan 13, 2011I have a script which loads tooltips on my webpage. The tooltips are embedded within a series of table cells. Initially some columns are visible and some are hidden. Columns which are visible by default work just fine. The problem is columns that are hidden by default are not loading the tooltip.

Each cell has a span which is hidden by default with the class "show-tooltip-text". The purpose of this code is to add a hover event to the parent of this span which is the td element.

JQuery :: Triggering A Click Event Via (event.button != 0)?
Apr 8, 2010I have an object that has a click event I'm trying to trigger. However in the click event I have the following if statement:
if(event.button != 0){return true;}
This if statement allows right clicks to go through and activate but it also prevents me from triggering the event. Any ideas on how to prevent this? If I remove the if statement from the first click function everything works as intended.Here's my example code based off of the trigger event examples:

Jun 15, 2009Trying to make code that adds a hover event to all html elements within a certain container. On hover the element should be outlined by adding/removiing a css class. Thats the first thing and I can't get that to work with the code below.
The second part is to keep the element outlined when its clicked, and also when selecting multiple elements by (ctrl+click).
Have searched for a outline plugin, but came up with nothing.

What I want to do is apply the .highlight class to a sentence (not the entire paragraph) on hover, and apply the .strikethrough class to a sentence on click. It's easy to find a sentence using regex, but I don't know how to add/remove a span to just that particular sentence that is being hovered over. I know I could programatically wrap each sentence in <span>...</span> tags on the backend, but I was hoping there was a better solution.

Oct 5, 2009I have a div A that when I mouse hover creates and appends in run time another div B inside with an higher z-index. This new div B is a info div that I want to show within the limits of the div A. When I mouse out div A, the div B is removed. The problem is that when I mouse hover the B div, it runs the mouse out event of the div A, and cleans the div B, and I want to maintain it while the mouse is still on the boundaries of the div A! Is there a way to avoid the mouse out event of the div A when the mouse is on top of the div B? IS is necessary to calculate the coordinates of the mouse and check if it is in the boundaries of the div A? By the way, I am using live("mouseover",fn) and live("mouseout",fn) to handle the mouse hover events.
