We need to find a way to pull a user's NT ID (Windows log on), and store it in a variable for use later on, and also to watermark the screen on HTML pages in an eLearning course. I have no idea how to do this and I can't seem to find anyone who has encountered a need for this.

I'm working on an internal website at work and employees have a cookie created when they login to the customer support tool. The filename is cookie:username@domain.com/ and I'd like to use javascript to pull a variable for their username to plug into a URL for a unique link when they're viewing one of our intranet pages.
@domain.com/ will always be the same but I don't know how to pull the unique username from the filename of the cookie. I don't need to actually read the cookie.
I am having some trouble with creating cookies and getting them to work for an onclick event. The div is about 80% wdith so there is a 10% gap on the left and 10% gap on the right. However, I want the gap on the top and bottom of my div to be the same as my gap on the left and right.
I need to somehow capture the pixel value for the gap on the left and right, store it in a variable and then use this number in my css for the top and bottom gap.

I have been struggling with an AJAX issue for 2 days now and have finally started looking for some help. This is my first post on this forum but by the looks of it , it seems to be full of people who know what they are doing so I humbly ask your advice on this issue. I want to build a javascript function which can retrieve data from an SQL database by calling a php script. For this I use the script underneath. There is off course a php-part to this but the problem is not situated there since the script runs smoothly if I put the returned value (ajaxRequest.responseText) into an html-element like a <div> for instance.
If I don't do this however and just want to assign it to a javascript variable (like shown below : window.out_text = ajaxRequest.responseText) it will not show when I call document.write(window.out_text); EXCEPT WHEN THERE IS A DELAY. So If I put alerters in there to slow down the generation of the final html, it seems to be able to write the javascript variable to the screen. Is this a bug in the ajaxRequest.readyState? Or am I doing this wrong? And especially: How can I solve this. Someone else on this forum must surely have already ran into this problem?

What I need it for: I want to build a form on the intranet, where I will automatically fill the user's data, like his Name, Email-Adresse, Phone-Number etc. What I got:
- IIS7 with anonymous access on the whole intranet.
- Active Directory
- Any webdevolpment tool except PHP, but especially JavaScript, ColdFusion, ASP..
I google'd like the whole morning, but couldn't come up with a solution. Just found stuff where it says that you cannot get the user with anonymous access and stuff. So I need either confirmation of this information, or any hint where to start looking..

First, when there's no class at all in <div id="main-content">, the 'active' class is added to *all* the #nav-primary LIs, and also to *all* the #aux-left DIVs; how can I modify this so that in the absence of any class on #main-content, do nothing?
