Ive never heard of this being done, but currently ive got a div which sits in the center of my screen. The div is about 80% wdith so there is a 10% gap on the left and 10% gap on the right. However, I want the gap on the top and bottom of my div to be the same as my gap on the left and right.
I need to somehow capture the pixel value for the gap on the left and right, store it in a variable and then use this number in my css for the top and bottom gap.
a.) specify two parameters for the changeYear function: today and holiday.
function changeYear(today)(holiday){
b.) in the first line of the above function, use the getFullYear() date method to extract the 4-digit value from the today variable and store the value in a variable named year.
first line
c.) in the second line; use the setFullYear() date method to set the full year of the holiday date object to the value of the year variable.
second line
d.) in the third line, use a conditional operator on the year variable. The test condition is whether the value of the holiday date object is less than the today date object. If it is, this means that the event has already passed in the current year and the value of the year variable should be increased by 1.
third line
e.) in the fourth line of the function, again set the full year value of the holiday date object to the value of the year variable.
I have 3 divs in a page, and each div contains a submit button. When the submit button is pressed, i want to process a form contained in that particular div and insert the id of the div into a database in which the submit button was there.So, i want to retrieve the id name of the div and store it in a PHP variable so that i can put it in my sql query. How do i achieve it?
So I was wondering instead of calling document.getElementById('theTest').innerHTML; multiple times is it possible to store this as a variable and then access this later? If I want to change it though Have to go document.getElementById('theTest').innerHTML = something: right?
Is it even worth it to do something like this or is document.getElementById('theTest').innerHTML fast enough?
The following loop works: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var i=0; for (i=0;i<=5;i++) { document.write("The number is " + i); document.write("<br />"); } </script> </body> </html>
But the following doesn't: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var i=0; var x="i=0;i<=5;i++" for (x){ document.write("The number is " + i); document.write("<br />"); } </script> </body> </html> I'd just like to create a simple variable.
I have been struggling with an AJAX issue for 2 days now and have finally started looking for some help. This is my first post on this forum but by the looks of it , it seems to be full of people who know what they are doing so I humbly ask your advice on this issue. I want to build a javascript function which can retrieve data from an SQL database by calling a php script. For this I use the script underneath. There is off course a php-part to this but the problem is not situated there since the script runs smoothly if I put the returned value (ajaxRequest.responseText) into an html-element like a <div> for instance.
If I don't do this however and just want to assign it to a javascript variable (like shown below : window.out_text = ajaxRequest.responseText) it will not show when I call document.write(window.out_text); EXCEPT WHEN THERE IS A DELAY. So If I put alerters in there to slow down the generation of the final html, it seems to be able to write the javascript variable to the screen. Is this a bug in the ajaxRequest.readyState? Or am I doing this wrong? And especially: How can I solve this. Someone else on this forum must surely have already ran into this problem?
i have a image that need user click on it and get the coordinates and store the coordinates to mysql database by using php. Here my code:
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function(ev){ var pos=zxcPos(this.img); var mse=[ev.clientX-pos[0],ev.clientY-pos[1]]; var ary=this.ary; if (ary.length>4) [Code]...
I want to use an onkeydown() on my web site and the web site to know which key I pressed. Specifically know I pressed the arrow keys and store which key was pressed in a variable.
We need to find a way to pull a user's NT ID (Windows log on), and store it in a variable for use later on, and also to watermark the screen on HTML pages in an eLearning course. I have no idea how to do this and I can't seem to find anyone who has encountered a need for this.
How do I store an object reference inside a variable when I want the object reference to to reference the first "ul" html element nested inside the current object (as referenced by this keyword)?
I want to use an onkeydown() on my web site and the web site to know which key I pressed. Specifically know I pressed the arrow keys and store which key was pressed in a variable. Must work on all browsers.
I want to store the sourcepage of a html page in a variable; how can I do this? this page is not the one who contains the script, the page is delivered by a textbox
I'm using this bit of jQ to add a class to two different elements based on the class of another (parent/grandparent, etc) element.
First, when there's no class at all in <div id="main-content">, the 'active' class is added to *all* the #nav-primary LIs, and also to *all* the #aux-left DIVs; how can I modify this so that in the absence of any class on #main-content, do nothing?
Second, how can I target only the first or second of multiple classes to store in the 'containerClass' variable, e.g., <div id="main-content" class="apples bananas">?
I'm a new Javascript coder; it's still pretty easy for me to get snagged on stuff. Anyways, I had a question for a specific project I've been trying to figure out.
I have an element set with CSS to a width of 160px. What I want is a way for users to the site to drag a slider back and forth to set the width of the button. Some sort of smooth animation while this is happening would also be nice. I'd also like a way to set a max width on the element.
So, can this be done? I'm guessing it would use jQuery, but I don't really know.
I am trying to access the width variable from my main page. Within the imageinfo.js script functions I can alert() the width value which returns 1024. But I can't seem to pass this variable to my main page or access it directly so that I can use document.write() to write the variable on the page. Whenever I try to call the 'width' variable directly from the main page I get undefined. How can I access this variable? However, with the test code below, I was able to get ducument.write() to write the 'width' variable on the page but now the page doesn't stop loading - there's an endless loop in the code...
$('.openDialog').click(function(event){ var width=$(this).attr('width'); var height=$(this).attr('height');
[code]...
I'm trying to do something like above, where I pass the width and height into the Dialog box but it doesn't take the variable.It only works if I put an actual number here instead of a variable.
I didn't see this as an option, so I decided to give it a try on my own. I was able to add some lines of code (shown with the > in the margin below) to the jquery.cycle.js script to read in the width of each image and center the slide within the slideshow container // set position and zIndex on all the slides
My client wants a ticker, only with client logos. I've found several scripts which are cool, though no one is precisely what I'm after. Company logos vary in their proportions. I'd like ideally a script able to continuously horizontally animate images of the same height, but with variable widths. Found plenty of scripts moving same width images left/right, or using a carrier (table/div/layer) to contain a set of variable width images - the latter leads to blank moments my client doesn't like while the carrier is repositioned.
I'm very intrigued as to why this doesn't seem to have been done and wonder if there's a reason. Is the computation needed in passing widths in a variable to a move function too much for the client-side? I don't want to waste my time wading into repurposing a script for this if it's not viable as I can't pass that cost on to the client, you see. I'd rather bail and do it using Flash.
