I am calling a PHP script and trying to store the results to a Global Variable for use in later functions. But It doesn't seem to be saving the results to the variable. I have found, that within the ajax success call it will display the proper information. Outside of the AJAX success (whether in the function or outside of it) the variable is listed as undeclared.
I have a .js file that receives a value from an html page. I'd like this value to be a global variable that all functions in the .js file can use. I have tried just declaring a var at the top of my .js file, but when the value comes into the function and gets assigned to that variable, it is not global.
I would like to store a variable then call it back later. I have a variable on line 198 www = ''+this._ad.clickUrl+''; And on line 321 I try document.write(www); I've tried so many different options, just won't work. I have even tried to call document.write(window.www);
how to assign a value to a global variable within a function and can't seem to figure it out. Here's my thought,
The purpose behind this is creating a form that will work with an existing database that would normally have a text area with lots of information. I am trying to turn it into a checklist that I can run from a mobile device. The global variables woudl be used to fill in a hidden text area that would then be passed on to the database upon submission. I am trying to keep the code as compact as possible.
I am using jQuery 1.4.2 and I am trying to carry over the global variable totaltabs into my JSON callback function. The code seems to work properly, however, in my loadJSON function after the callback function loads the data, my totaltabs variable will not increment.
Here is a peak at my code.
totalItems is loaded from another function, not relevant to my example.
I want to use an onkeydown() on my web site and the web site to know which key I pressed. Specifically know I pressed the arrow keys and store which key was pressed in a variable. Must work on all browsers.
I am attempting to use the return value from a nested ajax function as the value for a variable in its parent. However, despite being able to successfully assign the variable within the nested function, it reverts back to its original value after the child function has terminated. Below is the code:
a.) specify two parameters for the changeYear function: today and holiday.
b.) in the first line of the above function, use the getFullYear() date method to extract the 4-digit value from the today variable and store the value in a variable named year.
c.) in the second line; use the setFullYear() date method to set the full year of the holiday date object to the value of the year variable.
d.) in the third line, use a conditional operator on the year variable. The test condition is whether the value of the holiday date object is less than the today date object. If it is, this means that the event has already passed in the current year and the value of the year variable should be increased by 1.
e.) in the fourth line of the function, again set the full year value of the holiday date object to the value of the year variable.
I'm trying to define a selector as a global variable and it keeps coming back undefined. I tried creating a namespace for it but had no luck. I would like to be able to reference the sliderRange, currentMin, currentMax globally.
