JQuery :: Load Values From External Page To DatePicker?

Jan 8, 2011

I'm what you could call a total newcomer to jQuery. I've got a page with a jQuery DatePicker in which I wan't to block out some specific dates that are fetched from an MS-SQL database (I'm using ASP.NET). I've gotten so far as to understand that in order to accomplish this, I should create a .aspx page that returns only the blocked dates as a string. It's done, however, I really don't understand how I am to load the string into the jQuery script.. :P

Onchange Tag Of A Listbox To Use The Values To Manipulate An Iframe - "can't Load Page" - Src Is Broken

Jun 16, 2011

I put the following line in the onchange tag of a listbox to use the values to manipulate an iframe:
document.getElementById('viewer').src=('Location_Files/')+(this.value)+('.htm') There it works perfectly but I wanted to do more so I decided to build a function around it:

function display()
{
document.getElementById('viewer').src=('Location_Files/')+(this.value)+('.htm')
}

When I put the function in the onchange tag instead, the iframe tries to work but I get a "can't load page" message like the src is broken. Now when I first made that line it took me hours to figure out that I can't use a "" because if I do it fails. So I went with "/" and that works but I wonder if that rules change when I specify it in the java script instead of in the onchange tag itself. Either way it still breaks if I try to use "".

Which Method Will Make The Page Load Faster - Calling Code From A .js File 50 Times Slow Down Page Load?

May 12, 2011

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.

I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.

So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:

Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?

Seperate Concatenated Form Values - 4 Text Boxes That Are Supposed To Load 4 Seperate Values Of Data

Jan 27, 2010

I have 4 text boxes that are supposed to load 4 seperate values of data from one field in one table from a database. The field is called interface_cropsettings (from the interface table) and these values have been concatenated and comma seperated in this field.

Code:

Once the form is filled out and saved, the data is inserted into the database and the values from these 4 text boxes are concatenated, comma seperated and inserted into that one field correctly.

(Example)

If the 4 text boxes have the following values:

In the database field they become:

However, if the form is closed and then re-opened, each text box displays the entire database field rather then each value seperated in the corresponding text box.

(Example)

All 4 text boxes display this:

I already know why the data appears like this in the form, my problem is that I'm not sure how to write the javascript to seperate the values into the correct corresponding fields, assuming javascript is what I should be using!

Also, this is kind of irrelevant but just in case you're wondering, this form is part of a cold fusion application!

Load Before Page Loads - Slow Down The Actual Page Load Of The Website

I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.

Window.opener Lost In Postback

Mar 30, 2007

I have a problem that the window.opener variable is lost once my popup
page has a postback. On multiple pages they address this problem but I
cannot find a correct answer.

This is my situation:

I have a main page which shows invoices. When a user clicks on the
invoices they get a popup where they can alter the invoice which uses
postbacks because of direct changes in the database. Finally the user
can click a button to accept the invoice and then I need to change two
variables on the main page which opened this popup, the new invoice
fee and status (which is based on the button pressed). I dont want any
postbacks on the main page, therefore I simply want to pass these two
variables from the popup to the main page.

However, after a single postback on the popup page the window.opener
variable is gone and lost forever. Now I have seen solutions using
frames but I do not know how to go from there because I also pass some
variables from the main page to the popup.

JQuery :: DIV's SlideUp/slideDown Not Working After Postback

Jul 21, 2010

I have a six DIVs, each containing another DIV that slideUp and/or slideDown upon a click on the its parent DIV. Each DIV has a textbox, or a datagrid, or a textarea and a button (to save the data). I have a click function attached to the parent DIV that changes the class of the child DIV (expanded/collapsed). Also, the click function calls another function to save the state of each child DIV. The idea being to maintain the state of the DIVs upon return from postback.

The slideDown and slideUp work upon the page load, or going to another page and returning to the page (not using the back button). The slideDown/slideUp cease to function when I click the save button within the DIV and the postback occurs. The other DIVs function as intended after the postback until I click a button on one of the remaining functioning DIVs, and then that DIV is now not functioning as intended. It acts as if the slideDown/slideUp was replaced with show/hide. The state of the DIVs are maintained upon postback.

Server Postback Using HTTP Post Format?

Mar 11, 2011

I am trying integrate an upload system from YouSendIt.com in to my companies forms. The code they give for integration is basically an iframe with a coded URL set for the source. Their server sends a postback using HTTP Post method but I am not sure how to access the data that is sent back. I do not need to display it but I need to use it for validation purposes in the rest of my form. The Iframe code is as such:

<iframe style="margin-left:20px;background-color:#ffffff;overflow-x:hidden;display:block" id="file_upload_iframe" name="file_upload_iframe" src="https://www.yousendit.com/v1/ibox.php?sitebox=1011503&sh=adeace4e28613bc36fb1fa3c6ef766ee&send_notification=false&custom_postback=true" width="600" height="250" marginwidth="0" align="middle" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>

JQuery :: Click-events After Postback Don't Work Anymore

Aug 15, 2010

I built a small website which has a confirmButton on it. When you click the confirmButton a dialog will appear which asks you to confirm or to cancel.

The problem is that after you click 'Yes' on the dialog (executes postback) the jquery-click-event on the confirmButton doesn't work anymore.

Below you can see my whole website.

Help With Status Bar - Still Showing Load In Progress Even After Page Load

Feb 20, 2006

I'm having an issue with the status bar in Mozilla and Netscape showing that
it is still waiting on the page to load even after it is finished. This
problem does NOT occur with IE.

In summary, I am using a onLoad event in the BODY tag to communicate back to
another server each time a page finishes loading. I do this by using a "new
Image()" and setting the .src property to the server. The .src includes a
value in the querystring so I know what request it was that finished
loading.

The challenge here is that the status bar still shows "Transferring data
from www.mysite.com..." despite the image being loaded. It never clears and
leaves the user with the impression that there was a problem loading the
page. My web server logs at the mysite.com show that the browser does
indeed make a request for the image and I get the querystring just fine and
it returns a status of 200 so the image is being found and served ok.

I've tried everything I can think of to solve this and really could use your
help please. Bottom line is that if you use the "new Image" statment from
within the OnLoad event of the Body tag, Netscape and Mozilla never seem to
update the status bar to show "Done" despite it succesfully loading the
image.

Here is a simply snippet you can use to easily reproduce this issue:
