I've been searching for about 3 days on this topic. I'm trying to get a template field inside of an ASP.Net detailsview control inside of an ajax updatepanel to work with the jquery datepicker. Very frustrating! I'm using VB with VS 2010. I can get the datepicker to work fine with a simple text box inside of an update panel but when I put it inside of a detailsview control it stops working.

I am a ASP.NET developer and I would like to use the jQuery BlockUI inside a generic control, designed to show a popup (with javascript and CSS effects). My problem is to disable (key tab, enter and mouse clicks) the parent window (parent element) (my control is inside the page and does not use iframe). Inside my control I have a DIV and I show his content when the user call the method designed. The problem is: I only see the "caller" of BlockUI using this type of eventhandler "CLICK", ex:
$('#pageDemo2').click(function() {
$.blockUI({ message: '<h1><img src="busy.gif" /> Just a
moment...</h1>' });
test();
});
It is possible apply that property inside the blockUI out of my DIV (parent element), inside my control, without click ? Is it necessary to use a iframe?

I'm building a form in PHP. One of the fields needs to generate information based on another selected input. The first input is for "phase" and based on that I need to count how many entries there are in the database for that phase, then display posible positions(ie 1 per entry including the entry being edited/added). I know that this can't be done with only PHP.
I don't work with Javascript normally so I am struggling. I have read many similar topics, but can't find the answer I am looking for.
I thought that the solution could be to call an include file when a selection for phase is made, but I don't know how to pass the information to the PHP script.
I'd prefer not to have to reload the page or form.
Here's the code that I have so far:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<body>
<form action="edit-category.php?id=<?php echo $id; ?>" method="post"
[Code]....

THIS WORKS:
<html><head><script type="text/javascript">
function recalc() {
alert ('Entering recalc().');
}
[Code]....
The first example works, which shows that the recalc function can be called. The second example works, which shows that onchange will trigger an alert box. BUT, the third example doesn't work. Why can't I trigger a call to the recalc function from the onchange event?
The above 3 code postings are the entire programs. Nothing has been left out or modified.
I am using IE 8.0.6001.18702.

$('#newPrice').change(function() {
this.value = this.value.replace(/[^0-9.]/g,'');
checkPrice();
[Code].....
Ok, so the above code will do the regex when the contents of the textbox changes, but it does not seem to call the checkPrice function I've placed after it does the regex.
I have the above on Change code in a .keyup event and it works as expected.

I am trying to piece together a bit of form validation. I can not get the two scripts to work together via onsubmit. CardVal works onclick and DataVal works onsubmit.
1. first i tried to call the CheckCardNumber(this.form) from inside the DataValidation.js after it returned true. Is that even possible? I could not figure it out...
2. i tried inserting this into the <form> tag:
(subform_validator(this) && CheckCardNumber(this.form));"
is that even possible? my javascript skills are not exactly expert so forgive me if i have overlooked something extremely simple... Code:

I want to call a function inside a loop of an array but when I run it, it is only reaching the function the first time.
for (i in qMedia) {
writeMedia(qMedia[i].name, qMedia[i].format);
}
Even when I tried to call it outside the loop multiple times, it only executed once.
writeMedia(qMedia[0].name, qMedia[0].format);
writeMedia(qMedia[1].name, qMedia[1].format);
writeMedia(qMedia[2].name, qMedia[2].format);
I know that each of the objects in the array have data because I tried to run each one of the lines above separately without calling the other two and it worked fine.

This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
......selectShape(2, 'Tricky', ཤx5°').....

I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.

The challenge is as above really. I have a page with an iframe in it, and need to call a JS function in the *parent* page, *from* inside the iframe.
(It's for Google Maps, but I won't bore you with the complexities of that, as it doesn't affect the question).....

I've got this:
Code:
var noteCount = "";
jsonRequest('media.getFiles', params,
function(result) { noteCount = result['totalCount']},
function(exception) { noteCount = "0"},
true
);
The console returns results['totalCount'] with a value of 2 (that's correct).
When I call noteCount for display, it shows nothing. Neither the var set by result or exception.

I'm currently facing a weird issue with the onchange event. I have a web application where each blur event makes a call the webserver to store the value of the textfield. I only want to trigger that ajax call when something has changed, so i track the onchange event on each textfield to set a flag if something has changed.
The onchange event always fires to first time when i click outside of a textfield even if i didn't change anything in the field.
I narrowed it down to the following: A prefilled textfield always fires the onchange-event the first time you leave the textfield. An initially empty textfield does not fire the onchange event.
Sample code (IE 8 on Windows 7 computer):
script:
