Value Disappearing In Function Call Inside Event / Fix It?
Jun 17, 2010
I have an html input and when a button is clicked, that input's value is passed to a function. However, the value becomes undefined when execution gets inside the function despite NOT being undefined inside the event handler! See below code...
<button onClick="return popup('<span onClick='selectShape(1, 1, 1)'>test<span>');" tabindex=Ɖ' onFocus="setFocusColor(0,3)">....</button> This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
Does anybody have an idea how to call CGI on a onclick event when link is clicked. This is a sample that works in some situations but sometimes new page loading is to fast.
I am trying to piece together a bit of form validation. I can not get the two scripts to work together via onsubmit. CardVal works onclick and DataVal works onsubmit.
1. first i tried to call the CheckCardNumber(this.form) from inside the DataValidation.js after it returned true. Is that even possible? I could not figure it out...
2. i tried inserting this into the <form> tag: (subform_validator(this) && CheckCardNumber(this.form));" is that even possible? my javascript skills are not exactly expert so forgive me if i have overlooked something extremely simple... Code:
I know that each of the objects in the array have data because I tried to run each one of the lines above separately without calling the other two and it worked fine.
I'd like to ask how can i ask for a function inside a for loop , if i remove the loop the code works fine but i need it for 10 rows .here is the code...
I'm wanting a table cell click event to remove and replace the table it was clicked on, however I'm finding that as it's deleting the original table object the actual running event code is being replaced and the function is bailing.how I can call the delete/refresh function from outside the event's function scope?
Basically I want to have a different background image for every time of the day. The function by itself works okay with onclick or onload placed in body.
function changesky() { document.getElementById("sky").style.background="url(back_morning.jpg) repeat-x";
I am reciving the (ajax) response res and diplaying in <div id=homepage> , i want to know is there any way to call a js function after i have recived/displayed the reponse inside <div id=homepage> .
i have an iframe inside a page(main). In that iframe, i am calling a java script function that is in the main page.This function call is working in Mozilla , IE but not in Safari and google chrome?? Is there any specific reason for that? when i add the function in the iframe it works.
I have a small portal website with some ads around. I'm in the process of creating an ads manager script with php and mysql and would like to know when an ad was clicked. I'm confused on how to do this but, the only way I can think of is by adding an onclick even to every ad img:
HTML Code: <a onclick="callfunction('ad_id');" href="ad url"><img src="path"></a>
Now, how would I call a php function with onclick? I guess that can be done with ajax but, don't know much on how to use it?
when I call my "moveObject" function by an onMouseUp event handler like this:
<script> document.onmouseup = function (e) { moveObject(e,testTable); }; </script> everything works fine. But I would like to call that function not by clicking anywhere in the document, but by clicking on a table clell. I used this:
I have a button that I wish to call a predefined function (Go()) shown below, but, I wish part of the URL that is sent to the function be inputted by the user.
function Go(URL) { window.location = URL; }
Here is the code I have for the button, but I am getting a syntax error. What do I need to do?
<input type="button" value="Duplicate" onclick="Go(CustomerMailingList-duplicate.asp?ID=<%=rs(strPrimaryKeyFieldRecordset)%>&CustNum=prompt('Enter New Cust #', '0')">
Ok, so the above code will do the regex when the contents of the textbox changes, but it does not seem to call the checkPrice function I've placed after it does the regex.
I have the above on Change code in a .keyup event and it works as expected.

This is a one row and repeated in while loop php script, row code is below.
Is it possible to set an html element's (created through HTML DOM's createElement() method) 'onclick' attribute's value to a Javascript function which requires a parameter, passing a variable to it at the same time?
I have the following Javascript code:
var parentDiv = document.getElementById("subscribers"); var stubSpan = document.createElement("span"); stubSpan.id = "opentok_subscriber_" + stream.streamId; stubSpan.onclick = showStreamInFullScreenMode(stream); parentDiv.appendChild(stubSpan);
'stream' in the bolded line is a parameter variable of the function that the above code is in, and I'm trying to pass it to another function using an onclick event.
I have a few buttons on a page I'm developing and I want the onclick event to call a javascript function in an external file and execute it. I would like to be able to pass a parameter to that function and then either have the function take the user to a new URL or make changes to the webpage content.
Initially (just to test) I had inline javascript that caused an alert to popup. That worked fine. Next I took the inline code and put it in a function in an external javascript file that was referenced in the HTML:
So I create a class: function cMap(mapID){//vars and stuff}
I go and prototype a function: cMap.prototype.loadMap = function(){ //jquery AJAX call }
Now in the jquery $.ajax({...}); call, I use an anonymous function on the "success:" call: success: function(data){ this.member = data; }
My problem is that inside this anonymous function call I'm trying to call a class member of my cMap class to store the data in from the AJAX call, but it's out of scope. So the JS console in FF/Chrome throws errors about bad value/doesn't exist.
How can I access this class member from inside an anonymous function? Or at least what's a good way to go about doing all this?
I need to make a $.post call on the beforeSend event of another $.ajax call.I read the documentation and I see that if the beforeSend return false the ajax call will be interrupt.So I made this code but doesn't work, because the real value of the beforesend function isn't true or false, is the value of the post.I have to do this because when you click on a link I need to verify before if you are able to do this via db permission of my webapp.I think you don't understand...This is the code:
I'm currently facing a weird issue with the onchange event. I have a web application where each blur event makes a call the webserver to store the value of the textfield. I only want to trigger that ajax call when something has changed, so i track the onchange event on each textfield to set a flag if something has changed.
The onchange event always fires to first time when i click outside of a textfield even if i didn't change anything in the field.
I narrowed it down to the following: A prefilled textfield always fires the onchange-event the first time you leave the textfield. An initially empty textfield does not fire the onchange event.
if i have this code:<div id="newyork"> <div id="test"> Hello </div> </div>And bye $("test") I want call to newyork, how can I do that?somthing like $("test").getinsidetag();
