Accessing Class Member Using This Inside An Anonymous Function Call In A Class Method?
Mar 28, 2010
I'm using jquery to make it easy for AJAX calls.
So I create a class: function cMap(mapID){//vars and stuff}
I go and prototype a function: cMap.prototype.loadMap = function(){ //jquery AJAX call }
Now in the jquery $.ajax({...}); call, I use an anonymous function on the "success:" call: success: function(data){ this.member = data; }
My problem is that inside this anonymous function call I'm trying to call a class member of my cMap class to store the data in from the AJAX call, but it's out of scope. So the JS console in FF/Chrome throws errors about bad value/doesn't exist.
How can I access this class member from inside an anonymous function? Or at least what's a good way to go about doing all this?

There exists anonymous function, and you could also use a variable to contain such function. But why no class?
I mean, you could do:
$func = create_function('$a', 'print $a;');
$func();
or
function test($a)
{
print $a;
}
$func = 'test'
call_user_func($func, xx);
But there is no:
$class = create_class('', '');
or
$class = 'MyClass'
class $class {}
Why?

Ok...so here is what I have:
function myClass() {
this.checkLogin = function(name,pwd) {
if(name.length > 0 && pwd.length > 0) {[code]....
Everything works above. The first alert shows that this.status was set to 'error'. However, if I call myClass.getStatus(), I get undefined. How can I get the parseData function to set the variables in the parent function?

Suppose I have the following HTML code:
<div class="one">
<a href="http://jquery.com/">jQuery</a>
</div>
<div class="two">
[Code].....
Basically I want to recognize which <div> tag was double clicked, and hide the corresponding link that is nested within that specific <div> tag.
The only way I can think to do this currently is to basically copy and paste a whole bunch of jQuery code for each <div> tag and it's sub-elements (links in this case).

Bit of a problem I've not been able to solve after a couple hours. I'm new to Javascript classes and objects and really a Perl programmer so this has been giving me a headache. I've attached the code below but in a nutshell I have an object that writes code to a div upon instantiation and attaches events to several controls. When the event fires it runs a function attached to the class via prototype.
Problem is, the "this" obj from this event now refers to the control (e.g button) so there is no way to get back to the class. If you look at " alert(this);" line this should output the Class object, instead it refers to the button

G_NORMAL_MAP.getName = function(short) {
if(short) {return "Karta"}
return "Karta";

It works (tested) with Firefox 1.5 (Linux and Mac) and Opera 9 (Mac).
But Safari 1.3. says "Parse error".
What is wrong - code or Safari?

I have this class, (just the signature)
javascript Code:
var parent_child = function(po, ps, co, cs){
var url = 'http://xyz.com/abc/';
var pars = [], childs = {}, tmp;
this.p_added = function(urlFrag){
[Code]....
What i want to do is to create a new class with the above one as the super class, pass in one more variable to the constructor and override the p_added function. I thought of doing something like xpc = new parent_child(); and override the function with xpc.prototype.p_added = function(){}
how to pass in another variable to the constructor and make it private to the new class.
I believe there is a nice and concise way to achieve what i want to, but i can't find it. And the fact that OOP in javascript can be implemented in several different ways doesn't help my cause.

I got help with creating a method (to have only increments of 10 as valid values for certain fields in the form).
jQuery.validator.addMethod("roundnumber", function(value, element, params) {
return (value % 10) == 0;
}, "Your order of vaccine must be in increments of 10");
I've also found info on how to add rules to a class (there are multiple fields and name generated dynamically so I have to use class).
jQuery.validator.addClassRules("fluzone_", { roundnumber: true});
So I've added both these lines to additional-methods.js, but it does not validate it on submit. I do have php back-end logic that sets values to the nearest round number but I do want Js navigation before submission.

how can i set an interval inside a class
exmpl.
var Class = (function() {
var interval = undefined;
function initInterval(instance) {
interval = setInterval("doSomething", 1000, instance);
}
function doSomething(instance) {
alert(instance.message);
}
function Constructor() {
this.message = "hello world";
}
Constructor.prototype.init = function() {
initInterval(this);
}
return Constructor;
})();
is not working correct. doSomething is not known. i think, setInterval
is not inside the class, so doSomething is private and unknown for the
interval.

Im trying to set up a XML document object within a class declaration(mozilla only):
MyClass.prototype.loadXML = function(file)
{
this.isLoaded = false;
this.xml = document.implementation.createDocument("","",null);
this.xml.onload = this.fileLoaded;
this.xml.load(file);}
MyClass.prototype.fileLoaded()
{
this.isLoaded = true;}
Somehow, the isLoaded property doesnt seem to be set to true when i
create an instance of the class. I tryied passing the object instance
through an argument
...
this.xml.onload = this.fileLoaded(this)
...
MyClass.prototype.fileLoaded(obj){
obj.isLoaded = true;}
but i get even weirder results. Any ideas?

I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this
$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});
1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked
2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening
3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc
4. add the class back to the clicker div
The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work
