JQuery :: Making Call On BeforeSend Event Of Another Call?
Apr 30, 2010
I need to make a $.post call on the beforeSend event of another $.ajax call.I read the documentation and I see that if the beforeSend return false the ajax call will be interrupt.So I made this code but doesn't work, because the real value of the beforesend function isn't true or false, is the value of the post.I have to do this because when you click on a link I need to verify before if you are able to do this via db permission of my webapp.I think you don't understand...This is the code:
I m very new to use ajax. but i know the basics of ajaxcall and basics of javascript. Please help me how to start with makingajax call ..please give me also sample code
I am calling a page which uses a jquery plugin(lightbox) which functions perfectly by itself, but whenever an ajax call is made and this page is retrieved the plugin stops functioning.
This is the line for using the plugin which i have stored in a .js file which is imported in all html files, but still it does not work.
I have link but the link was made by <a href=javascript:run()> How can I make it run when enter will be pressed. How can I set default Enter button to run my run() function.
I am making a call to a perl script using AJAX, this is basically updating a shopping cart item quantity, however; it only works about half the time.. Code:
function UpdateItem(Qty, ProdID, Size){ var XMLHttp; var ee; if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") { XMLHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } else { XMLHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } [Code]...
I'm currently facing a weird issue with the onchange event. I have a web application where each blur event makes a call the webserver to store the value of the textfield. I only want to trigger that ajax call when something has changed, so i track the onchange event on each textfield to set a flag if something has changed.
The onchange event always fires to first time when i click outside of a textfield even if i didn't change anything in the field.
I narrowed it down to the following: A prefilled textfield always fires the onchange-event the first time you leave the textfield. An initially empty textfield does not fire the onchange event.
I am new in jQuery. Actually in my application I want open a new tabs on every link. So that is done with following code. It is working fine. I have many textfields and buttons on every tab. So I want to disable those elements on tab loading
I have a button and when I click on the button I want to reload my DatePicker accordingly and launch the beforeShowDay event of the datePicker from my click event. How can I do that? How to set the DatePicker date to the ListDate[0] date?
So I have a basic REST call to Flickr's API. This is how I'm displaying the images. $("#flickr").append("<img src = '"+ photoURL +"' class='thumbnail' />"); Then I have this later on in the same file... $(".thumbnail", this).bind("click", function(){ $("#display").html("<p>clicked</p>"); });
For some reason, it will not detect this selector. I've also tried $("#flickr > img") & $("img"). None of these selectors seem to trigger this event. I tested $("#flickr").bind()... and I got the expected result, so I am pretty certain it is the selector that is not working. I have done a basic "thumbnail / enlarge" model a number of times from hard coded image tags to ajax sources, but never from Flickr's API.
I have a jQuery UI slider plugin working to scroll some content. I would like to add a mousewheel event. I have this installed and have it working with a small hack. My questions is, is it possible to have the mousewheel call the event on the slider? This way, when you move it with the mousewheel, it just moves the slider which will scroll the content.
The general framework is a simple user login function. The user name is selected and a password entered as usual. The function grabs the element values and passes them to a php page that queries the database. An AJAX call returns the password to the function and then I want the innerHTML to be a choice of two web pages, depending on success or failure of validation. There are existing AJAX functions available on the internet but they are overly complicated for what I think should be a simple, quick to load function.
Where I am stuck is that the standard procedure to make an AJAX call is the browser window event. How do you make the call from within the function? I have tried creating two new variables, "success" and "again" to replace xmlhttp, but still stumble on the event to assign a value. I left the blank password protection (if statement) with that variable to demonstrate what I mean.
I've put in my code below, which is in development and successfully alters the innerHTML text depending on user input but I can't figure out how to insert the relevant php page. I have '// out' the testing bits, but left them for info. (I have tried full 'scripting' as the innerHTML, but it's messy.)
when i click on a <a> tag with class poplight this works fine. But when i add another anchor tag dynamically to my page (without a page reload, via ajax) like below...
and if i click on that anchor tag that was no placed on top of my first row it does not call the click event instead i can see the variables i tried passing through that anchor tag on my url.
any clue why this is happening.... i donot get any errors as well on firebug.
I ve a aspx page with a textbox.I have created the Text_Changed event for this textbox.We know that , this will be fired when we enter any text in that textbox and pressing the enter key.quite natural.
I am putting some text in that text box thru javascript from the window_onfocus event.
After that , i need that the text_changed(server event) event to be fired,so that i could perform some search operation.
Could you please tell me how can i call the Text_changed server event from the javascript.
I have a small portal website with some ads around. I'm in the process of creating an ads manager script with php and mysql and would like to know when an ad was clicked. I'm confused on how to do this but, the only way I can think of is by adding an onclick even to every ad img:
HTML Code: <a onclick="callfunction('ad_id');" href="ad url"><img src="path"></a>
Now, how would I call a php function with onclick? I guess that can be done with ajax but, don't know much on how to use it?
Does anybody have an idea how to call CGI on a onclick event when link is clicked. This is a sample that works in some situations but sometimes new page loading is to fast.
I've got a script which is called by a keypress event, something like this:
<html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function respondToKey(e) { keyPressed = String.fromCharCode(e.which); if(keyPressed == 'g'){ alert('you pressed the g key'); window.open('http://google.com'); } }
</script> <title>Untitled</title> </head> <body onkeypress="respondToKey(event)"> hit the g key to open a google window </body> </html>
when you hit the right key, the alert appears, but the window.open() never happens. There's not even a message in the Error Console, just nothing.
Is this a security feature? Any way I can get around it? And, if it's a security feature, is the fact that it fails silently with no error message also a security feature? Because it's rather annoying.
I have an html input and when a button is clicked, that input's value is passed to a function. However, the value becomes undefined when execution gets inside the function despite NOT being undefined inside the event handler! See below code...
I have a button that I wish to call a predefined function (Go()) shown below, but, I wish part of the URL that is sent to the function be inputted by the user.
function Go(URL) { window.location = URL; }
Here is the code I have for the button, but I am getting a syntax error. What do I need to do?
<input type="button" value="Duplicate" onclick="Go(CustomerMailingList-duplicate.asp?ID=<%=rs(strPrimaryKeyFieldRecordset)%>&CustNum=prompt('Enter New Cust #', '0')">

It sounds confusing, but is quite simple. I have a square div, and using css I have four circles replacing the corners of the of the divs border. I want the user to be able to click on one of the corner circles changing the curser image and calling the Javascript onclick event. How do I did that?
