JQuery :: Nested Divs: Making Content Visible?

Feb 25, 2011

I'm trying to debug a tabbed menu implementation, where I have a variety of pages that are made visible based on tab clicks. This works well, until I have a page that is laid out with nested divs. Any content beyond the child of the selected page (page_about shows 'Put an image here' but not 'This is where...') remains invisible. I've tried a number of options in the slideDown statement, but failed thus far.

Jquery :: Sub Menu Animation - Add A Nested Menu To The Drop Down

Dec 5, 2010

, I'd like to think this is fairly simple but unfortunately my knowldege of jquery is limited to using prebuilt scripts and changing a few variables to get what i need. I created a drop down menu with a slide down/up animation for submenus, which worked out just as I wanted. I ran into troubles though when trying to add a nested menu to the drop down, but with a slide animation going from left to right. I'm sure my explanation isn't very clear, so please take a look [URL] The nested submenu I am speaking of should only open when hovering occurs on the 'Item 01' link, but as you can see it also opens when hovering over the buyers link. Secondly, my attempt to slide from left to right on this ul is not working, it seems to be sliding down even though this was not defined in the code.

PHP/MySQL Dependant Drop-down Menu?

May 13, 2009

I'm looking at integrating a JavaScript/PHP/MySQL dependant drop-down menu order configurator. My client sells a lot of high-tech stuff, which needs to be customized, so I was thinking that this would be the perfect solution.

Rather than have the list statically populated with HTML tables, if the clients could automatically configure them to their specifications, then this would be the best option to avoid confusion, as well as save my client's support desk time and money during the pre-sales process.

However, I am not having luck finding what I need when Googling for dynamic dependant javascript php menus... a lot of basic JavaScript menus comes up, and that's great, and I really don't have the time to spend on this project creating a custom mysql/php implementation.

JQuery :: SlideToggle Dropdown Menu WITHOUT Nested Lists?

Oct 13, 2011

So my problem is that I've got a main navigation with a dropdown menu underneath "products". I positioned the dropdown menu, set it to display: none, then wrote jQuery to slideToggle the menu when a particular LI is hovered over. The issue is that when I hover over the "Products" LI and try to hover over the dropdown, it disappears because I'm no longer hovering over that LI.

You're probably thinking "Just make nested lists!!!!". Well, I don't want to. I've got some jQuery being applied to the main navigation that I don't want to effect the dropdown. I just want a way to be sure the dropdown is open when the mouse is hovered over either the main LI or the dropdown UL and that the dropdown is closed when the mouse is hovered over neither.

In my code I've tried to make it so that if the mouse is over the dropdown UL it stays open, but the mouse leaving the LI trumps that maybe? HELP PLEASE! My HTML and jQuery is below.

Nested Unordered List Show/hide Menu That Remembers Location?

Jan 7, 2009

I am having a few issues with a client who requires me to code their menu in JavaScript.

Here is the HTML:

Code:
<ul id="navigation">
<li class="firstElement"><a href="#">User</a>
<ul>
<li><a href="#">Manage my profile</a></li>

[Code]....

Basically i need the menu to be collapsed to the first level initially. So only the User, Admin and Company User links are visible.

When these 1st level menu items are clicked the 2nd level sub menus need to be displayed when navigated to the 1st level index page and so on for the third level menus.

I need to be able to remember the location as well so the menu stays open on the correct page.

The annoying thing is that if i was allowed to do this in Coldfusion this would only take me a little while but i don't know much JavaScript therefore am a bit stuck. I am not allowed to use libraries either such as JQuery, MooTools

Another challenge is to style the 'active' link locations.

When you are at the first level the class of the anchor needs to be selected_bg.

When in a sub of said first level the class of that selected anchor needs to be selected_bg and the first level needs to change to selected.

For the third level both the above stays the same but then the third level takes the class of selectorThird when active.

Ajax :: Dropdown Menu Pulling Info From MYSQL Database?

Jun 20, 2009

I need to create three dropdown boxes (box 1:colour, box 2: price, box 3:brand) and when the user presses "GO" they are returned with the correct information, pulled from corresponding fields in my MYSQL database.

For example, colour: silver, price £100-£200, brand:samsung...should return 5 items on the page. I do not need the dropdown boxes to populate depending on ther previous selection - they are static, so to speak. If possible, I would like the information to be retuned to my page without the URL changing, which leads me to think I will need to be ausing ajax....?

JQuery :: Making A Dropdown Menu?

Jan 21, 2011

Forgive the extremely basic question but I can't find something that addresses it. I have a navigation bar that is a series of list elements. I want to pop open a subnavigation bar when you mouse over one of the elements.

The slightly different thing about this one is that in the html the subnav div sits outside the main navigation div, ie they are not related. What I want to do is keep the subnavigation bar if you move your mouse from the main nav down to the subnav, and hide it again once the mouse leaves either the subnav or the main nav.

My problem is that any of the ways I can think of doing it, once the mouse leave on the main nav is called i can't stop it from going.[URL]...

Making Expanding Menu Hierarchy Sensitive?

I'll get to the hierarchy sensitive part next, but for now I need help making this even work with two top-level links. I'm building a left-navigation that's expandable. Click a little + box image to the left of a top-level section's link, and all the links to sub-sections within that section expand out, the + box image becomes a - box image, and clicking the - box collapses the sub menu links. The scripts below work so long as I just have one top-level section, but because they us an ID for the +-box image, when I add a second top-level menu item, the swapImage function no longer works. How do I make it work with a class instead of an ID? The JavaScript and HTML code is below:

Image Gallery With Navigational Buttons Including "first", "next", "previous", And "last"; And Making A Drop-down Archive Menu?

Sep 22, 2009

I am having trouble with a simple image gallery with navigational buttons including "first", "next", "previous", and "last"; and making a drop-down archive menu.

1. For the most part, the image gallery works. The problem is that when a user clicks on "next", and then "prev", the last image is not displayed. On the other hand, if a user clicks "prev", and then "next" the last image is displayed(works normally).

2. The way I am displaying the last image, the function last(), is not efficient. It simply refreshes the page in order to display the last image.

Basic overview: The images follow a simple standard: page1, page2, page3,...page64; they are in a subfolder "img". The function changeImage() changes the image from the prev, to the next. The image gallery displays the last image in the gallery; when a user clicks on 'prev' it goes to the previous image, and go to the next image when clicked on 'next'. If the current image is the last image, and the user clicks on 'next', it goes to the very first image. Here is the code (in the

<HEAD> tags):
<script language="JavaScript"><!--
which_image_loaded = -1;[code]....

My guess is the code is not working properly due to the initial values of the counter.Last, is there a way to display the current image "myimage.src" using a dropdown menu with each option value as each image?I have done this with window. location, but this only redirects to the image location.

Nested Tabs

Jul 23, 2005

I'm
trying to make a web page with tabs which you can navigate between
without the page reloading. I have one set of tabs working great, but
when I add nested tabs there is a problem with the 'visibility' not
being inherited and some parts stay visible in the sub-tabs. Sorry if
this is unclear.

Here's how I have it layed out: I have a <span> for each content
section of a tab. Then I have do the same thing for the content of each
inner tab. When a tab is pressed some javascript code goes through and
makes all content sections hidden and the content section for the tab
that was pressed visible. If I select a tab and then select an inner
tab it looks like is should, but when I try and select a different tab
for the outer tabs the content for the inner section doesn't go away.
I've found that this is because visibility is not inherited. My
question is if anyone has a solution for this problem. I'm sure there
is somebody that knows of some javascript trickery to do this.
