Making Multiple Elements Visible

Jul 27, 2006

I have written a function to make visible elements with a certain id. however i intended it to be used to make visible multiple elements but it only appears to switch on the first element it comes to with that id. after that it appears to stop. i was wondering how i can adapt this function to make visible multiple elements, will i need a different way of referencing or can it be done through id?

function toggleLayer( layerID ) {

var style2 = document.getElementById( layerID );
if (style2.style.display == "block") {
style2.style.display = "none";
}
else {
style2.style.display = "block";
}

}

Making Parts Of A Form Visible/invisible

Dec 29, 2004

I have a form, its a very big form. About halfway down is a series of checkboxes (8 or so). Each one toggles whether the item I'm editing belongs to one of the categories or not. Each checkbox is linked to a subform that is invisible. (by subform I mean one or more form elements).

When a checkbox is clicked I want the subform to appear, and when it is unclicked I want it to disappear. Now the tricky part is, that when the page loads, it draws information from the database, and some of these checkboxes will already be clicked, so those forms need to be visible right from the start.

I'm just having far too many problems, can anyone point me towards some information that might help? Reply if I wasnt clear enough and you need clarification.

JQuery :: Nested Divs: Making Content Visible?

Feb 25, 2011

I'm trying to debug a tabbed menu implementation, where I have a variety of pages that are made visible based on tab clicks. This works well, until I have a page that is laid out with nested divs. Any content beyond the child of the selected page (page_about shows 'Put an image here' but not 'This is where...') remains invisible. I've tried a number of options in the slideDown statement, but failed thus far.

JQuery :: Getting Around Click Function Making Hidden Element Visible

Sep 20, 2010

I have a class hidden by default at the document ready state. I use the show() function when its parent has been clicked and I want to be able to apply a click function to this newly visible element - when I write it I am finding that it is overriding the initial hide(). How do I work around this? I should say that this element is just a bit of text that says "close x" and will be used to "close" its parent div down...

Choosing Visible Form Elements

Jul 20, 2005

I have a javascript function that loops throught all text boxes inside
a form:

var elems = document.formName.elements;
for(i = 0; i < elems.length; i++) {
if(elems[i].type && elems[i].type.toLowerCase()=="text")
do something
}

This way it goes through every single text box in the form.
But in my form structure, some form elements (text boxes included)
are inside invisible divs.

And what I actually want to do, is to check only the text boxes
that are not inside invisible divs.

Is there a way to say in javascript something like:
choose only textbox that is not inside element (div) whose
className='invisible'?

Or maybe I should try a different approach, instead looping through
all form elements?

OPTION Elements Added To A Dynamically Created SELECT Box Via DOM Are Not Visible In IE

Sep 3, 2005

The code below works great in Mozilla.

In IE the selection box is created, and there is a drop-down box if I click
on the down arrow, but I can't see the OPTION text for each option. The
options are invisible, yet the box seems fully functional. I went into the
debugger and sure enough the selection box has "OPTION" child nodes with the
correct "value" and "text" attributes.

What could be wrong?:

JQuery :: Assigning Classes To Visible Li Elements Only, And Changing Dynamically?

Apr 17, 2011

I'm putting together an events calendar athttp:[URL].. Each event is a li item, and I use jQuery to assign the class "no-left-m" (no left margin) to li:nth-child(3n+1) for CSS layout purposes. I've also added the ability to show only events in certain categories. Unfortunately, the initial jQuery assigns the classes to li items from the DOM, and doesn't take into account the show/hide. This means that when I show only a single category, the margins are off.

[Code]...

how I can assign my classes dynamically to nth-child(3n+1) of *visible* items only?

Making Form Elements Appear And Disappear

Jul 20, 2005

I have a case where the user can select several choices from my 1st <SELECT>
element. The user's choice on the 1st <SELECT> effects what the possible
choices are for the 2nd element. Currently the 2nd element is a <TEXT>
input, but I'd like to be able to make it a <TEXT> element when certain
items are selected from the 1st <SELECT> and a <SELECT> when other choices
are selected. Is there a way to either change an element from <TEXT> to
<SELECT> (and back), or to make a <SELECT> or <TEXT> element disappear
without re-writing the entire page?

JQuery :: Multiple Select Boxes Affecting Visible Items

Feb 17, 2010

I'm quite new to jQuery and have this working, though I'm fairly sure if this won't be an efficient way to do this. I have a form with each day of the week, and each day has a choice in the number of slots which then shows the correct number of slots for entry for that day.

The form:
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="DataTable"><tbody>
<tr>
<th>
Day
</th>
<th>
Slots .....

This is simplified just a little as there are more than the 1 input in an 'Entry Section' (eg .Entry3). The jQuery I have working here is:
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#frmSlots1").change(onSelectChange);
});
function onSelectChange(){ .....

That's working fine, except I do want to have 7 days so that would be quite a lot of replicated jQuery code. I am thinking there will be a way to identify the select item with the others so jQuery will know which to adjust without having to spell every single item out. Is there an easy way to achieve this in the above?

JQuery :: Multiple Image Buttons To Show / Hide Multiple Elements

Sep 27, 2010

I am using jquery with the cookie plugin and I have multiple image buttons that can hide/show multiple elements. My question is how can I add a cookie to this code to remember whether each separate element is opened or closed?

The code,
$(document).ready(function() {
// choose text for the show/hide link - can contain HTML (e.g. an image)
var showText='<div class="expanddown"></div>';
var hideText='<div class="expandup"></div>';
// initialise the visibility check
var is_visible = false;
// append show/hide links to the element directly preceding the element with a class of "toggle"
$('.toggle').prev().append('<a href="#" class="togglelink">'+hideText+'</a>');
// capture clicks on the toggle links
$('a.togglelink').click(function() {
// switch visibility
is_visible = !is_visible;
// change the link depending on whether the element is shown or hidden
$(this).html( (!is_visible) ? hideText : showText);
// toggle the display - uncomment the next line for a basic "accordion" style
//$('.toggle').hide();$('a.toggleLink').html(showText);
$(this).parent().next('.toggle').slideToggle('fast');
// return false so any link destination is not followed
return false;
});
});
HTML,
<a class="togglelink" href="#"></a>
<div class="toggle">

JQuery :: Making Multiple Divs Appear Or Disappear When Diff Sections Of Site Are Scrolled To?

Jul 14, 2011

I am trying to create a fixed crest at the top of my site that changes depending on where the viewer of the site scrolls to.

I found the following script/plugin on StackOverflow that works well for making one element fade in and fade out.

PART ONE:

function isScrolledIntoView(elem) {
var docViewTop = $(window).scrollTop();
var docViewBottom = docViewTop + $(window).height();
var elemTop = $(elem).offset().top;

[Code].....

I then duplicated part two and changed the variables to make a different div appear in this position depending on where the viewer was in the site but it did not work past the first transition. see the following link to get a better idea what I am trying to achieve.

Is there any way I can adjust the script to make it work with multiple transitions?

Show The Class If Its Not Visible ,or Hide It If It Is Visible?

Jun 23, 2010

I have the following code that don't work like i want it.

Code:
function hideDisplaySingleSuite(textstring) {
var myclass1 = new RegExp('\b'+textstring+'\b');
//Populate the array with all the page tags[code]....

For example.It show objects if I remove the if statement that checks if the class is visible.for example this shows a class and works.

Code:
function hideDisplaySingleSuite(textstring) {
var myclass1 = new RegExp('\b'+textstring+'\b');
//Populate the array with all the page tags[code]....

So my question is why don't this work on a class, it works on an "id"?

Code:
if (allPageTags[i].style.display ==''){
allPageTags[i].style.display = 'none';
}[code]....

I want to show the class if its not visible or hide it if it is visible.How can this be done?

Changing Value Of Multiple Elements With Same Name At Once?

Jul 20, 2005

I am doing a form for my site and would like to enable and disable a radio
button set depending on whether one of the choices on an outer radio button
set is checked. How can I refer to all the inputs of the inner radio button
set (they all share a common name) with javascript. I tried
document.getElementsByNames('thename') but it doesn't work. I know this is
because this method returns an array which you must then refer to by a
specific index number, unless there is another way. I would like to refer to
all of them at once and then set their disabled status to false.
