JQuery :: Making Multiple Divs Appear Or Disappear When Diff Sections Of Site Are Scrolled To?

I am trying to create a fixed crest at the top of my site that changes depending on where the viewer of the site scrolls to.
I found the following script/plugin on StackOverflow that works well for making one element fade in and fade out.
PART ONE:

I then duplicated part two and changed the variables to make a different div appear in this position depending on where the viewer was in the site but it did not work past the first transition. see the following link to get a better idea what I am trying to achieve.

Is there any way I can adjust the script to make it work with multiple transitions?
Is there a way to make one regex to replace a space with " " and a tab with " "?
Currently I'm using two regex's with string.replace( ... ).replace( ... ), but that means it has to run through the string twice. Any way to do what I want in one regex?

I've thought of placing divs with a higher z-index next the main box but this isn't really an option, since it would make the website too large.
I have a case where the user can select several choices from my 1st <SELECT> element. The user's choice on the 1st <SELECT> effects what the possible choices are for the 2nd element. Currently the 2nd element is a <TEXT> input, but I'd like to be able to make it a <TEXT> element when certain items are selected from the 1st <SELECT> and a <SELECT> when other choices are selected. Is there a way to either change an element from <TEXT> to <SELECT> (and back), or to make a <SELECT> or <TEXT> element disappear without re-writing the entire page?
I have absolutely no idea what is going on, but IE seems to be making random elements in my code disappear. Take a look at... [URL] and notice the login title and the forgot password link, you will notice that they look fine in firefox but disappear in IE. Does anyone know of any way to fix this mysterious error? I know there a lot of inline styles, they will be moved to the style sheets once all the bugs have been found.
I'd like the text in the search box to disappear when the box is clicked in. Easy, right? I've found several how-to pieces online, and gotten it to work with at least two different methods. However, I found a rather snotty discussion of form semantics that made me wonder: what's the right way to accomplish this, can I tighten up this code to be clean and tidy, and most importantly, can someone explain it to me so I can understand it? Forms tend to leave me confrazzled.
I have been trying to do some tooltips for a website and desperately wanted to learn something new and do that with jQuery.However, every time a mouse hovers over a tooltip, all hidden divs are shown, not just the one that supposed to. Here's my html:
I have a script that will slide a div up from the bottom of the page. The toggle button for this div however is going to be right on top of the sliding div. But, when the button is pressed and the div starts to slide down, the script hides the button. Here's an example... [URL] How can I get the toggle button to slide with it, but not disappear?
I'm working on this project where I'm trying to use jquery to read from an xml file and generate added code to a html index file by creating dropdown select menus and then allowing the user to display pictures according to what of the 2 category 'select' types they select on the dropdown list.
The program works as far as generating the select dropdown list but only generates the images for the first selected option. When I select the second drop down category nothing happens it simply shows the pics from the first category. When I go into firebug and display the html file after the script is run there are an extra set of <p> tags without anything in them. I traced through the script and can't find where the <p></p> is coming from. It's not on the initial html page. I have the script below for the xml and jq.

I'm trying to debug a tabbed menu implementation, where I have a variety of pages that are made visible based on tab clicks. This works well, until I have a page that is laid out with nested divs. Any content beyond the child of the selected page (page_about shows 'Put an image here' but not 'This is where...') remains invisible. I've tried a number of options in the slideDown statement, but failed thus far.
This hides all divs except the first one (check the site) on load, then whenever I click a h3, it performs as an accordion, sliding the hidden div down and other visible divs back upI want to add another functionality. I want it to be like, if you click on a h3, and the next div is already open, it will hide that div. else, it performs this function. This would be a basic if/else then wouldn't it? I'm new to jq but I've done mIRC scripting in the past and I don't know how the selectors work yet

On my site I have a news page, where users can read part of the news (trimmed with php) and then they click "Read more" to see the full news item. That item then comes up in a popup (using jQuery of course) and should be displayed. To get this to work I'm usingthisby including it like so:
This all works great with that one div. The problem is, my news will be coming from a MySQL-query via PHP in a while-loop and I need this effect applied to every single news item. What I tried is to do this:
how do I make this work? How do I make jQuery open only the news item I'm clicking on? I know it could possibly be done with (this) and maybe children() or something like that? But I'm totaly lost at the momeny, I've tried loads of stuff with the pieces mentioned above but can't get it to work and most times I just "break" the jQuery and the popup won't even come up at all.

I've got it kind of working but when there are multiple divs on the page, named the same like in each article of a post on a Wordpress blog. On our website we wanna bind a click (or maybe mouseover)-event on every user-image. The click on the image should open a layer with further information about the user. Now i look for a best practice way to solve this (focus on performance), because there could be a lot of user-images on one side. I think, if i bind the event on a class like this
that could slow down the site, because i read, that "The class selector is the slowest selector in jQuery". Back to the roots and insert an onclick(function) to the element, but i'm not realy happy with that solution.
I'm using this great plugin, but the prob for me is that all error messages have the same class added to them. due to the layout of my form, i need to be able to move some of the error messages around in diff ways. there is a way to add a diff error class to elements based on their id or class or whatever, but not sure how to do so.
Getting myself back into jQuery and have an issue which I didn't previously fix, and was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me. I have multiple DIVs (up to 50 on one page) that I wish to individually be able to hide and close an extra DIV once pressing the 'Details' to show, and 'Hide' to hide the extra hidden DIV.
I am trying to get the height of a div that is inside 7 other divs. I noticed the height() method works with the first and second div, but it does not work after that.

I'm new to jQuery, and I'm having issues with showing my DIVs correctly. The problem with the script at the moment, is that it currently opens up every single .display div, whereas I only want it to open up the one which corresponds to the.input a.edit which I've clicked.
The script hides them individually, displays the hide button and makes the show button display correctly like I wish, but it's displaying all the the .display div's at the same time which isn't what I want. For reference here is my jQuery script:
I need to be able to fade in 3 divs but not all at the same time, I need one to fade when thats finished, fade in then the next, then the next. Can anyone help me with this? I assume its got something to do with queue's but im not 100%
