I am having a strange problem with fly out links.
I have a user control that renders a flyout menu using javascript. The
problem is, on one machine, the flyout menu is not appearing when we
hover mouse over the item.
But the flyout is working fine on other machines. I am not able to
reproduce that problem.
I believe that the problem is with some browser setting. I tried
disabling "Active Scripting" under Tools->Internet
Options->Security->Local Intranet to reproduce that problem. But the
entire menu is not rendered.
I need to slow down my flyout menu on hover with some JS? Is this possible? Here is what I got! I have a pure css flyout (flyin - what ever you call it) menu, and I simply am looking for some JavaScript that will enable it to fly in a little slower. You know, with CSS, it's either there or it's not. So I'd like to animate it a little more.
Edit - actually, I think it's called a slide-in.
What is the proper technique to hide a flyout menu on mouseout? Note that it should not disappear if the user continues to hover over it's corresponding menu tab.
Some ideas:
1. I remember seeing a post about this fromkboudloche, but can't find it for the life of me. He selected the whole document, and then filtered out the menus, and hid the flyout on a mousein event. Something like that.
2. I have a parent div that contains both the menu tab and its flyout. I tried hiding the flyout on a mouseout of that div, but to no avail.
3. Some sort of nested check; e.g.:
If mouseout of flyout area...
If mouseout of menu tab...
Hide flyout
4. Selecting the document body, and then using not() or filter() to remove the flyout and tab, and binding a mouseover -> hide flyoutevent to this selection.
I really like this Superfish menu [URL].. plugins/superfish/#sample3) built with Jquery. But, I need to style it very differently. Does anyone know how to style the sub-menus that fly-out on hover differently?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have just started using Superfish. I am using a reverse color scheme (the background is green font color white) - so when I rollover a main menu item the menu item rolled over has a background of white, font color is green. When I go to a sub menu item the background of the main menu item stays white, but the font also stays white (I want the font to stay green).This is an example of how I want my menu to work:

(Notice that when you rollover and then fly out, the main menu item rolled over maintains its background and foreground color).This is the part of the superfish.css that I have edited:

This Link Description script is driving me crazy. The first URL below is
the script exactly as I got it from javascriptsource.com, which works fine.
But as soon as I replace the linktext with my own (see the second URL) the
script stops working. I didn't change anything else from the original but
the linktext. I've been racking my brains for hours but whatever it is, I'm
missing it....
I've started studying JavaScript recently. The following simple scenario from the Russian textbook is not implemented properly on my PC.
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Link Description</TITLE>[code]....
I just typed the script from the book char by char. I use Firefox browser, v.3.5.7. The error console does not display any mistakes. why on placing mouse over a link the status bar displays A HREF text instead of the link description.
I am trying to build a linked drop down menu script with descriptions. Meaning that there are 5 drop down boxes all linked together. So when somebody choses an option in the first drop down box, the options in the second box appear. And depending on which option they choose there, more other options appear in the third box and so on.
At the end (or after every drop down menu box) there must be a description area (either by using a textarea or just some space for descriptions and a table) where text will appear depending on the chosen options.
I have the script with the linked drop down boxes, but I cannot seem to add a description box. Everytime I try, the whole script gets messed up.
This is my script:
Code:
<table>
<tr>
<td width="680">
[Code]....
<html>
<body>
<div id="link">[code].........
I got stuck in getting this to work (show random element of the array as a link with description)
rl.innerHTML='<a href="addr[ri]">addr[ri]</a>';
This is showing addr[ri] on a page and directs to[url]....
I am trying to turn a single level flyout menu into a multi level one.
It uses a dt for the title, and a ul within the dd for the menu items. The dd opens to the right of the dt.
The problem is that the second level menu (a dl within an li within another dl) [URL] - flyout4 & subflyout5.
The z-index is increased each time. I just can't figure why the area is limited.
javascript, css & html follow -
Code JavaScript:
/** FLYOUT = vertical dropdown **/
var Flyout = {

How can I keep the flyout visible, that's triggered with the "By Neighborhood"
hover?
My script:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

[URL]As I hover over Item 15, I want it to be like, "Okay, this list I'm about to display is going to be too long, so let's disregard the 'top: 10px' line in the CSS and instead have the submenu sit with its last item right at the bottom aligned with the bottom of the gradient." That way, we know for sure that the submenu will not reach past the height of the body, and the last item will be visible. The bottom of the last item's cell should "hug" the bottom of the page/gradient.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a jQuery plugin, which could create a flyout of a container from left or right side of a page on some event (onClick or onMouseOver).
The example can be found at [URL] when the page loads some shopping ads slide from the left side of the browser screen (it's shown automatically only once, to see it again you need to delete this website cookies and reload the page - it would be great if the plugin had this cookie-based feature).
Basically, I am trying to create a drop down menu that, when a link is chosen, instead of leading to an external page will make information appear underneath... is this possible, and if so, how?

I paid to have a website built, yet the developer used iFrames to accomplish the task. Basically, load a parent page, and then in an iframe, lod content chosen from a menu. Is there a way to create a menu at the homepage level, that will allow a menu listing the various parent pages, and under each parent page, have a drop down that will point directly at an iframe content?
Like this?
Page1 Page2 Page3
Page1ContentA
Page1ContentB
Page1ContentC
And when you click Page1ContentC, it will load Page1.htm and in the iframe load Page1ContentC?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using the Sitepoint book jQuery from Novice to Ninja. I'm still very much a novice but I'm making some progress...I have a jQuery accordion effect set-up on a a nested list. The effect is working great, however, I want to retain the menu state (e.g. which section is open) when a user clicks a particular link and the site loads a new page. I'm thinking I must need to use a cookie or similar but have no idea how to implement this. Here is the jQuery I have currently:
Code JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function(){

I'll try and keep this as short as possible (honest), scenario is this... I have a "price comparison" website which looks for deals via a php? query string url and returns the results as an Iframe inserted into a static "show" template page. Unfortunately that gives me 1000+ pages with duplicate title and meta descriptions...
What I'm trying to do is grab (server-side, from returned iframe content) a certain element of text (e.g. first (b)text to change/insert title and use the same text to insert in front of my description (i.e. description="grabbed text" blah blah blah
I know basic html and css etc and have started reading up on Jquery, but thats it... I'm not a programmer, so having asked question on a couple of forums and "googled" relevant topics, I've only got confusing info... most pointing towards Jquery, ajax etc. Thing is everyone goes "tech-speak" on me, might as well be martian...
I am building a site to replicate an existing site for a non-profit.[URL] want to have a rotating image on their home page, and I have it working using the following jQuery Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
// create the image rotator
setInterval("rotateImages()", 4000);

The problem is that I can't figure out how to clear the previous slide's decription (in the <p> tag of each Div). At present the descriptions do rotate, but they are all visible since they are within the stacked Div's. How can I get the descriptions to show and hide in sync with the images?
I just created a slideshow that is working (finally). I want to put a description beside the photos that is styled in the way I want it, but I can't seem to figure this out. For an example of what I want to finished slideshow to resemble, I found this website: [URL]. I like the features area on this website. Here is my code so far:

var intervalAction;
function ShowSlide(slide_num) {

I have a large image of all my products. I image mapped the images to their locations. I would like to have something where, if they put their mouse of the proper coordinate it changes the text beside the image (description text).
I don't require a sample, just the sraight code that ACUALLY works.
I used one off dhtmlcentral.com and it keeps on screwing up because of the stupid div features that come with it. I just need something SIMPLE.
