Create A Flyout Of A Container From Left Or Right Side Of A Page On Some Event (onClick Or OnMouseOver)?

I'm looking for a jQuery plugin, which could create a flyout of a container from left or right side of a page on some event (onClick or onMouseOver).
The example can be found at [URL] when the page loads some shopping ads slide from the left side of the browser screen (it's shown automatically only once, to see it again you need to delete this website cookies and reload the page - it would be great if the plugin had this cookie-based feature).
I have a sliding vertical menu in my page in the left side and in the right side i have a text say for eg: Home.
So when i click on home, i need the left side vertical menu to slide and open and the home in the left side should get highlighted. How do i do this in javascript?
I'm having a problem with .attr(). I will explain it whith code.I have this HTML code:

So now the onmouseover has again its value [the original one, copied by doing an alert($("#"+elem+i).attr('onmouseover')) when i disable the onmouseover event], but it doesn't work
I've seen several posts around this issue but nothing that seems like a definitive resolution.Cycle defaults to positioning the slides at top:0 and left:0 within the container div. I want them to be bottom:0 and left:0 within the container div.
how to create a DIV dynamically. Basicly, I have two labels, and depending on which one is clicked, I want some code to appear inside an existing DIV. Obviously, I will need to do this using javascript and the onClick event. To make things even more complicated, I also want some DIV's inside of the dynamically created DIV. So, the structure would be:
-Existing DIV --DIV created by label being clicked ---Another DIV ---Another DIV
I hope this doesn't confuse anyone. I have some code for the existing DIV.
Basically I have site that uses iframes to load its content. In one of the frames I have an html page that contains an image, and when you mouse over the image it is supposed to fade up a little description box. Naturally when you move the mouse away, the box disappears. I have a javascript function that fades the image up and down, and it's activated via an onmouseover event that is attached to a div that contains no content, but lays over the image to define the triggering area.
I use Dreamweaver to preview my pages while they are stored on my computer, and everything works beautifully. However, once I upload the page to my site, that functionality disappears completely. Code:
Does anyone know how to create a link (<a> . . . </a>) with some piece of javascript code that has the onClick event set for some function that I also wrote (not a build-in function).
I can find all sorts of samples in these disc.groups but none of them seems to work for me.
I am focussed on Firefox, but some code that also works for IE, would be appreciated.
BTW I know how to create elements in the html document, that is not the problem. The problem is that I seem not te be able to set the onClick event for some created element. I tried for both a link and also for a text-element. I can set the onClick for some built-in function like alert('Nice Day').
There are loads of examples to be found for that, and they indeed work.

So the only thing I can't figure out how to do is create an onclick event for one of the menu items (boudoir) that confirms that the user is comfortable being exposed to a specific (topless) type of image.
I have been using the JQuery Cycle plugin on my website and love it! It has so many options and seems customizable to do basically anything. My question is about the previous and next buttons. At the moment I am using next:'#next2, .pics img', prev:'#prev2', to make previous and next arrows underneath the image as well as use the image itself a "next" button. I would like to remove the arrows underneath the image and just use left and right halves of the image as a previous and next button. Previous being the left half and next being the right half of course. I've been searching for this being posted before and have not found any discussions on it. Also, the JQuery Slideviewer does what I'm trying to accomplish: JQuery Slideviewer Demo
Is there a way to incorporate this type of button in JQuery Cycle? It seems easy enough to make the image a next button I feel like dividing it between the two shouldn't be that much more difficult.
I'm using jquery treeview [URL] menu in my website and I have a little problem: when I open a page from the menu tree, menu expands completely and items aligns to the left side for a while, the time that page is charging.
I have written a function to compare each character in startString with another nominated character (nomChar). If they are the same this character is written to outputString, in the same position. If they are not the same a character is lifted from the same position in altString and placed in the same position in outputString instead. I hope that's clear!

However, the line of code within the if statement outputString.charAt(count) = nextLetter; keeps generating an 'Invalid assigment left hand side' error message.
I'm busy creating a website and I've implemented a gallery of sorts using this script below to make it move the images, however when it gets to the end of the cycle of images it reads the last image as the last one to reach the left hand side which is obviously quite unattractive. So all I would like to know is if there is someone who can alter this code to make it so the last image is read on the right of the block thus resulting in no blank blocks. The code on how to make this page into 2 columns. Right now I have everything in 1 long row of 6...id like to see how to make it 3 and 3 side by side...
My problem is with the onClick event. If I preface the event with a call to the function (as per the code snippet below); and the function returns a true, then the window.location doesn't execute (the same as if the function returns a false).
If I preface the onClick event with the window.location, i.e. onClick="window.location='devSimpleForm.asp?cmdAction=ptoTest&employee=' + document.form1.employee.value"; return empSelected(this) >
the function call is still executed, but, even with a False, the new page (devSimpleForm.asp) still loads & runs.
I already have a 'submit' button used to open a different page, so I seem to be stuck with the onClick event handler.
Can anyone help so that a 'false' won't load/run the next page, and a 'true' will? :confused:

I have a page with a button and a container. When i click on the button, it should redirect to a page where we can create a new customer. On the new customer form ,I have textboxes, radio buttons ,buttons amongst others.What i wanna do is that instead of redirecting to that page. I wanna dynamically create a div with all the controls required in the Container i have on my page itself. So each time the user click the Add New Customer button, on the same page, the textboxes and all other controls is created dynamically.
Is there a way to create a div or some container in which there will be an image such that the image fills the container but retains its aspect ratio? So if the container is 100px x 100px and an image is 200px x 100px it will be resized to 100px x 50px. Conversely, if the image is 100px x 200px then it resizes to 50px x 100px. An image of 400px x 50px becomes 100px x 12.5px and so forth.
The issue is I have to dynamically build the container pulling images from an image folder. The images can come in all sizes. But I want to make sure they all fit in the same square 'box' without distorting the image.
There is text and a button below the image and I want them to stay in the same 'spot' on the screen without being moved around because the height or width of the image above it grows/shrinks to accommodate a change in either the height or width. These can change but not outside a controlled 'box'.
Maybe there's a way to get the actual size (through Javascript or something) then calculate a percentage to resize the image to?
When I load the page, the alert fires instantaneously. I'm completely stumped. I've checked everything in my not too extensive Javascript file, and it looks fine. What common errors could cause this?
I'm loading an html page into an iframe from an onclick event. The procedure is to put a number into a textfield and then click a button that loads a separate file into the iframe. The number is used as a url parameter to grab certain info from mysql (locations.php?sku= the number ).On first click the page loads in the iframe with no info at all, then if I reload the page by way of the reload button in browser and then click the button a second time, it works. If I change the number and click the button nothing changes until I reload and click the button again. This is the code I'm working with---

I have a html page with a lot of thumbnails. The idea is that when the user clicks on an image the onClick event is to display another detailed form and deliver to that form the name of the image in a variable. In the detailed php-form there is a query to MySQL to retrieve a record. The record will be retrieved by a Query based on the name of the picture. Apparently the PHP cannot do the job. I had an idea to make the thumbnail page as a form and to use use a hidden field with the thummnail name which should be carried on with the $_POST array through the submit button but i do not want to have a submit button. The more elegant way is just by clicking the picture the detailed page is opened and the variable is transferred where my php code can make use of the variable for the query. I have never used java before so you have to excuse for the lack of knowledge.
First, I'd like to hide the Google Player until an onclick event actually occurs.
Second, at the moment, there's only an onclick for the image maps over the tracks list, and no href, which means the cursor never changes to the finger cursor, letting folks know there's a link there.
Last, when you click on a link, I'd like to the page to move its focus back to the top of the page (not reload, obviously). Instead, it just stays where you are, and the user has to manually scroll to see the full album art graphic.
