Basically, I am trying to create a drop down menu that, when a link is chosen, instead of leading to an external page will make information appear underneath... is this possible, and if so, how?
I know this is simple and has been done before. I'm trying to create a dropdown menu for secondary links. I want it to appear when you hover over a primary link. I can't do a simple .hover function with two handlers because once the user moves the mouse to go into the secondary menu, it will slide back away.
The easy solution is to put that secondary menu within the selector of the primary menu - but it's not possible with my setup.
I would like to create a page that has a dropdown menu populated with a list of images. When someone selects an image, the image and a URL to a webpage will display (screenshot below). Each image will have a different URL. How do I accomplish this?
So I have done this menu and I have 2 problems. 1. When I hover on a link, it does 2 animations, but when I "unhover", it doesn't reset the default values also with animations. I know the problem might be the display none in the css, but I really have no idea how to get around that. 2. As I said above, when I hover on a link, it does 2 animations, but when I move the cursor to another link, it doesn't "re"-do the animations anymore.
I wanted to create a small DHTML code that created a unordered list of input forms dependent on the number selected from the select dropdown menu. Problem is that it doesn't seem to want to generate the list. I think the variables are within the scope of the function too, and I didn't get an errors from the javascript console when using firebug. The script itself runs, I tested it when I used the old standby alert(); to see if the script was active. Here's the code:
I have a project where I need a selection of one dropdown menu may affect the select of multiple other dropdown menus on the same page.First, a table is generated, and within each row, it contains a dropdown menu. Assume: Rows A, B, C, etc..., and Dropdown selection: 1, 2, & 3If dropdown in Row A selects 2, then I want the selection of dropdowns in rows B & C to dynamically change to 2.And if in Row C user selects 3, then the selection in dropdowns in rows A & B should dynamically change to 3.
I just needed a simple dropdown. So what better solution than jquery right? Well, when I finished it, I tested it out and it works until you try to click a link in the dropdown. It then disappears. Not sure if theres something overlaying throwing it off but I didn't see anything in firebug.

I actually want to make a horizontal drop down menu with a sub menu.As far as I have researched, I think that it can be done by JavaScript. I have searched for some java scripts but they are very long and complex.
That made me wonder that for a funcitonality like a Drop down is so complex?
So here is my question : Is there any JavaScript that can be applied for drop down menu exclusively? Which just presents logic of drop down solely?
I have files on the server: .txt, .xml, .config, and "no extension" - all editable with notepad.
User will write some input, it will be added to file in specific place.
I need an ability to change element value in file (in one of them - depends what user choose) (or it even can be some trigger word it-self like CHANGE_ME for not to use attributes)
Create a temporary copy of edited file and create a unique temporary link to it.
I don't know what to start from.... For now I know how to make XHR, but what to do with other extensions?
Have no idea how to save the NEW file (a copy of original file) on server , and create a UNIQUE link ,and delete the file right after it was downloaded.
I can find a specific word in xml file, but how to change it?[code]...
I am trying to create a specific menu using jQuery where i want to toggle a clicked menu item. I used toggleClass to accomplish this. All fine and well, but what i want is that once i click a menu item, the previously clicked item should have the active state/class toggled off.. The menu is variable. (I tried and tried and searched all over the internet, but i cannot find it... spent 5 hours trying to combine various selectors and if/else statements, but it did'nt work.)
I have to create a page having drop down lists in such senario:-My page shows a drop down to select "country" . After selecting country from it , the page shows another drop down to select "state" (here state are only of that particular country). After selecting state, the page shows another drop down to select "District".
I would like to create reverse dropdown boxes (that is, dropdown boxes that "drop" the other way around--perhaps "drop-up" boxes could be the closest term I could associate with such elements) for the menu of my personal site; I've seen such menus before, however at the same time I have also neglected to take note of what JavaScripts were used.
I use the mcDropdown menu pluginin my website , but I have some trouble with it.In IE6 , some itemsdon't show when the mouse across there. In IE7,my trouble is that Iwant to layoutthree menus to occupy the same horizontal plane, but each one takes up a different line. Who can help me ? What can I do for this trouble?
I have a dropdown menu thats pull value from MySQL. Now i want to query the selected value from dd menu so then it will display a list that match with it in database without submit the page. Do i have to use onChange function and how?
I am using a system called CMS Made Simple which has a quotes feature. This will generate a quote randomly from a MySQL database. To refer to this quote feature you have to use the {quote} tag which has a few parameters.
The parameter I am interested in is {quote group=""} because I want my users to be able to see a random quote from a group that they select through a dropdown list.
Which functions just fine. However the problem with this code is that I plan to have 65 different groups for the user to select from. When I have tried to do this the webpage has become very slow. I presume this is from loading 65 random quotes from a MySQL database in case the user selects the div - a very slow method which needs to be put on the backburner!
Essentially I would like only the first Div to load with the webpage and the others to load when they are selected in the dropdown list.
I realise other threads exist which are similar to this but they do not pass parameters in the same way and I also saw someone say to start your own thread rather than hijacking someone elses!
I'm still trying to figure our why my drop down menu won't respond to the event handlers I have set up; I want the drop down menu to appear as if being pulled down; this works great. But once viewer mouses off the drop menu I want it to disappear and right now it won't.
Here is the link to the page: [url]
Try either menu, it scrolls out fine; but you have to reload the page to get it to disappear. What baffles me is why my function mclose is not working.
Im having trouble with this code. I have tried two versions, the first does nothing and the second works but it adds a listbox and not a dropdown menu. Im not sure what the deal is but I just want to add a dropdown menu dynamically when I click a button or link, I have that part coded, Im just having trouble getting the element right. Im using FF 7.01, but I would like to come up with something that is browser neutral.
I have a script for creating 3 dependent dropdown menu. Selection A in 1st drop Down returns Selection B in 2nd drop Down which returns Selection C in 3rd and final drop down To C I would like to attach a string of 3 value (prices). I was thinking of using the array var A_B_C = new Array(45, 275, 400); But I am not to sure how to link it to the code?
How to set cookies in javascript to remember user selection on dropdown menu and when user enter the page again, his previous selection shows automatically?
I have a page which has a dropdown box.On selection a value is sent to a php script (Ajax), based on the value a html table is created and sent back to the responseText. The table is outputted to the html page, I want the table to have sortable columns, so I have used jquery datatables for this, but it is not working.I have cut and pasted the exact table into the html and ran the page, and then sorting works.
