Get The Screen Size Of The Current Screen In IE?

Mar 2, 2011

I have 2 monitors from a different size. It is important in my application that I get the screen size of the monitor where the webbrowser is located. When I try to get the screen size (window.screen.height + window.screen.width) only IE gives me always the screen size of the main monitor where my taskbar (windows7) is located, instead of the screen size of the secondary screen where the webbrowser is located.

JQuery :: Write Raw XML To Screen?

Jul 9, 2009

I'm using jQuery AJAX to retrieve XML similar to that below. Now I understand how to parse this XML using jQuery, but I since everything inside the 'albums' node is valid HTML I just want to write it all directly into a div on my page. However, strips out the 'tags' and it doesn't like [url]... either. So how do I write XML direct to a page without losing the tags?[code]...

JQuery :: Detect Size Of An Image?

Apr 9, 2010

This is an update to a previous question which didn't get any replies. Having tried some things it boils down to a question of whether jQuery can detect the width of an image on the page when that width hasn't been defined in the image tag or css.

I'm designing templates for other authors to use. If they put an image of over a certain width in a div it'll break the layout. I've tried to write a function that gets (1) the name of the div and (2) the maximum width allowable. It should then check the images in that div and if they're over the maximum width, resize them to the maximum width. If they're under it should leave them alone. If a width is defined in the the width attribute it should leave it alone.

I know that is what 'max-width' is for, but the browser in our organization is IE6 and that's not going to change anytime soon. It ignores 'max-width'.

[Code]..

The result each time I tinker with it is that either it does nothing or it sets the widths of all images to maxwide, even the small ones. I'm doing wrong? The only clue I have is that if I alert the width of images going through the function, those without a defined width come up as 'auto', which it seems to think is greater than maxwide.

JQuery :: Resizing Divs Based On Screen Size?

Aug 14, 2011

I am using the bookflip plugin i found here: [URL]

I am attempting to modify the code so the book pages resize based on the screen width... or height... not really sure how this should be done as I need the proportions of the pages to stay consistent.

I have been able to achieve the resize on page load but I now need to add the resize() method to the variable.

This is what I have so far (original code):

var $containerwidth = $(window).width();
var $pagewidth = $containerwidth/1.22;
var $pageheight = $containerwidth/2.05;

I think I need to add an if() statement in the variable that says if page width or height changes resize else original code that is working. I have this code which I know works but I can't seem to get to work with one variable without overriding the original code... which doesn't work with this application.

$(window).bind('resize', function(){
$(window).width()/1.22;
});

Is this the correct approach to achieve this. I have found I must work within the original JS file as overriding will not work.

if(..........? page resizes ?............){
$(window).bind('resize', function(){
$(window).width()/1.22;
});

[Code].....

JQuery :: Get The Actual Screen Size And Width In Internet Explorer?

I have created a page with an alert on JSbin.com to show you your screen resolution. If you use 2 monitors open the page in one of the monitors. You will notice you will get the screen resolution of the screen where your web browser is located, except in IE (hoera!)

I have a perl script that i use to render a html page. In that page i call out a stylesheet. If the user has a 800x600 display the fonts are really too big.

Since screen resolution is a function of the client and I have this javascript ot detect the srecc size:

function ck_res()
{
if ( (screen.width != 1024) && (screen.height != 768) )
{

Detecting User Screen Size?

Apr 13, 2010

I am new to Javascripting but am teaching myself and have written this script from my portfolio site in an effort to detect the users screen resolution so that my art is viewed properly. I have ran the code through a debugger and it has comback as "free of errors" but when I run the webpage on my local machine it does nothing, the page displays as if I had written nothing and due to my limited knowledge of Javascript I am at a loss and hoping for someone to say, "look you screwed this part up fix this and it's good to go". Here is the code

<script language="Javascript">
function detect(){
if(screen.width<1280||screen.height<720){
alert("This web page is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1280 by 720 or higher. Your current resolution is "+screen.width+" by "+screen.height+". If possible please change your resolution.")

Detect <DIV> Size And Insert Into Another Page?

Aug 13, 2010

I have a goal in mind, and that is to get the width & height of a <DIV> tag in one document and insert them into another document...all on the same domain. It sounds like a simple task, but in case more detail is needed, let me explain:I have a page called 'demo.html' which launches a page called 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' via Shadowbox as an iFrame.

The problem is that 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' slightly differs in dimension on every browser and screen resolution. I want to have the iFrame's size detected every time it launches so Shadowbox can get solid dimensions to display it without scrollbars.Here is the code I would like to insert the dimensions in to:

<A HREF="/gallery/archive_iframe.html" rel="shadowbox;width=???;height=???" class="imgLink" title="Video Archive"><img src="gallery/videoarchive_thm.jpg" alt="Launch Video Archive (popup window)" width="260" height="162" border="0" /></A>

Detect The Current Font Size?

Jan 5, 2011

I have a button (in html) and I want the center of the button to be on the center of the line I'm typing on... I was just putting it inside a span and then using this code to move it down.

<span style="position:relative; bottom:-10;">

It worked great! But... once I started allowing my users to change the font sizes the buttons got bigger and they needed to be moved down further...

if the font size was +1:

<font size="+1"><span style="position:relative; bottom:-10;">

if the font size was +6:

<font size="+6"><span style="position:relative; bottom:-27.5;">

So is there a way in javascript to detect the current font size and then adjust the span position based off of that? If I can just get the number of the current font size I can do all the rest of the coding, I just need a way to figure out the current font size and put it in a variable... I was thinking of using something like 1.0em so that it stays the same but then we have a basis of measuring off of but I have no clue..
