JQuery :: Not Working On Renamed Element?
May 9, 2011
So I want to perform a number of animations on a div on a click event. Then I want to perform a second set of animations, again on a click event.I'm using the same button each time, but changing the id to reverse the process. So the anchor starts off as '#more', then at the end of the animation, it becomes '#less'.The animations work when the anchor has an id of more, but not when it has an id of less. I'm wondering if there is a more graceful way of performing this function.There a test page up here:and here's the relevant code:
Code:
$('#more').click(function(){
$('#major').fadeOut('slow', function(){

I'm trying out uploadify to upload images & files. Got it all working fine and got it so that it inserts the filename as a hidden form element so I can grab the filename on post and insert into the database -
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#file_upload').uploadify({
'buttonImg' : 'images/browseBtn.png',
[Code].....
But I want to rename the file in uploadify.php and pass the renamed value back to the form, so far, I can only get it sending back the original file name.

I'd tried to replace document.getElementById("wikipedia");with $("#wikipedia2");. Doesn't seem to work. I'd downloaded and included the latest jquery script in my code. I'd removed the doc type and link address in below code.
Code HTML4Strict:

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Events</title>

recently I've updated jQuery from 1.3.2 to 1.4.2 and the serialize of elements where the user can set the order just stopped working. As I googled this, I found out, that the serialization was changed in 1.4.2, but I couldn't find any example that shows how to serialize in 1.4.2 and sen the data to php where the order is saved.
Here's my code that worked perfectly in 1.3.2:
$("#list").sortable({
axis: 'y',
handle : '.handle',
[Code].....
In jQuery documentation I found out, that you can set it back to the traditional serialization, but where can I set that. How can I get this code to work again normally?

I need to replicate a table layout but with divs and fieldsets - to avoid this invlaid form & table layout -
Code:
<table>
<form><tr>cells & fields</tr></form>
<form><tr>cells & fields</tr></form>[code].....
matchwdth() is a function that makes all elements passed to it the same width (that of the widest element).so if there are two div.row each with multiple div.cell children, I want to make div.row[0] div.cell[0] the same with as div.row[1] div.cell[0], AND div.row[0] div.cell[1] the same with as div.row[1] div.cell[1] etc etc
problem is with this line
Code:
var _cell = _row.find('div.cell').eq(_item);
that seems to only pick up the div.cell elements in the first parent div.row - subsequent div.row's are ignored.if I do an alert on (_cell.length) I get 1 (even when there are multiple div.rows)

I'm trying to use a :not statement, so if you click anywhere else on the page BUT the element in the :not a div will disappear. When i use the same statement without the not, it works fine (click that one element and the div in the function hides).I'm assuming that the :not statement isn't working because the element is a child of its parent, so when you click it, essentially you are still clicking the parent which isn't included in the :not.
j(':not(.arrow)').live('click', function(e) {
j('.label').hide();
});

Basically, I have an element I want to hide before it is shown when a condition is met. For reference, it's checking whether a particular radio button is selected. if ($('[name="'+q1110.name+'"][value="'+q1110.value+'"]:not([checked])')) $('#_divhide').hide(1, function () { q1110.toggle = false; }); Right now, only in IE 6, it shows that element for a split second, then hides it. I don't want it shown at all unless the radio button is checked. As usual, I can't manipulate anything in HTML unless it's done through JS.
Also, the slideUp and slideDown functions don't work properly in IE 6. They do hide and show, but the animation isn't smooth. The element disappears and reappears without any animated effects. It's kind of a bummer since it works perfectly in FF 3.6.

I'm developing a web-template editor for a client, and they want it to update the changes in real-time using javascript. So, in other words, when a person selects a different background image, I use:
document.body.style.backgroundImage="url("+bgimg+")";
Well, I've run into a little problem. I can't seem to find any manual on what comes after style.*
So far, I've seen style.color, style.backgroundImage, style.backgroundRepeat, style.backgroundColor. But, I'm looking for something that can control text-decoration, font-weight and a:hover
Does anyone no where I can find a list of all properties support after style.*?

Even in IE it is working fine only if the mouse is dragged slowly. If we drag the mouse fast it is loosing the control. Are there any browser issues to be fixed. Please check it. I'm including the file.

I'm having some problems understanding the append() function. What I'd like to do is select an element using it's ID and add a row to the table with a HTML form element. The table is dynamically generated using a Django template ( form.as_table() ) so I'm not able to alter the original HTML markup too much.
If I had a table like this...

I have created a form with malsup's Form Plugin wherein it submits on change of the inputs. I have set up my jQuery script to index drop down menus and visible inputs, and uses that index to determine whether keydown of tab should move focus to the next element or the first element, and likewise with shift+tab keydown. However, instead of moving focus to the first element from the last element on tab keydown like I would like it to, it moves focus to the second element. How can I change it to cycle focus to the actual first and last elements? Here is a live link to my form: [URL]. Here is my script:
$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {
target: '#c_main',
success: setFocus

i have got about 50 definition lists on one html-page witch all look linke this:
<dl>
<dt class="title">aaa</dt>
<dd class="subtitle">bbb</dd>
<dd class="city">ccc</dd>
<dd class="email">ddd</dd>
<dd class="website">eee</dd>
<dd class="description">fff</dd>
</dl>
if the dt-element in one of the definition lists has a specific css-property (e.g. length > 100px) then the dd-element with the css-class "subtitle" in the same definition list should be removed.

That's what I have:

$('.target').html(returnData);

Is this possible with JQuery? I have the following code which I think Should do this, but it's not working :/These are two different functions which I've been testing, and the html element is supposed to create a dropdown list via some PHP which will have the option "Other" within it. Unfortunately, I have no idea exactly how to turn "Other" into a text box when the user clicks, and I've been spending a lot of time on this already.
