I have more than 30 addEvent listeners i need to add to my WebApp. But the Code to dynamically add them is not working, unless change:
AddItemEvtAry[x].addEventListener('click', function (e) {document.getElementById("text" + x).value ++}, false);
to
AddItemEvtAry[x].addEventListener('click', function (e) {document.getElementById("text0").value ++}, false);
but obviously hardcoding all of those DIV IDs would defeat the purpose of the code.
Code in Question:
// Event Listeners for Incrimenting Quantities
var AddItemEvtAry = [40];
for(var x = 0; x < 39; x++)

I'm writing a custom script to collect attributes from links and concatenate them to pass as a string to another function. I'm using a readily-available 'addListener' function so the click event doesn't overwrite others on the page. All this seems to be working in all browsers except IE6, and I suspect it may have something to do with event bubbling. Can anyone see my errors and any other ways I could improve the script? Code:

Body.trackKeys = function (target){

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Microsoft Virtual Earth Version 1 Commercial Control.
I want to make it so you can click on a pinpoint that's plotted on the
map and all mouse events are passed to the map so that the user can
click anywhere on the map (including the pin points) and drag/zoom the
map around.
For those of you who haven't used Virtual Earth:
Basically, there are a bunch on absolutely positioned Div elements. I
basically want to pass all mouse events from one absolutely positioned
div element to the absolutely positioned div element directly beneath
it.
My code:
function run() {
for(var k = 0; k < newPhotos.length; k++)
{[code]....
I get an error on this line Quotedocument.getElementById(imageId).style.backgroundImage = "url(" + newPhotos[k] + ")";
the error is: QuoteObject Required
I'm just not sure what object they are talking about. This piece of code basically goes through and assigns x amount of divs a background image.
I wrote a little live clock in JS (using Steve Levithan's "date format" code) that formats the time display according to a format string. I then find all elements by classname and search for a classname of "clock" and write the clock string to the innerHTML of every element I find.But recently I added another "feature". Rather than hard code a format string, I instead pass it in ID. Example:
<span class="clock" id="hh:mm:mm tt"></span>
..and the JS:
var doClock = function () {
var now = new Date();
var e = getElementsByClassName('clock');
[code]...
Note that I am passing the clock FORMAT STRING by using the span's ID. It works great...
Code:

How do I pass the distributor name into the function as a variable? I am having trouble finding useful information on "this" method

I want to understand the callback syntax and pass the id of the html element as any parameter here is my requirement
In my callback, I am passing the load(url..) I want the URL to be dynamic, based on the URL = BaseURL #callingID , where #callingID is the ID of the calling HTML element.
This way I have to write just one callback function and can reuse this to load multiple sections based on where it is coming from.
$('#callback').bind('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, info){
if (!$(this).data('loaded')) { // Make sure the data hasn't already been loaded (we'll set 'loaded' to true a couple lines further down)

I wonder how you can select the ID of an element (li) you have clicked and pass this to the server to do stuff with it :-)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an image slider. I'd like to be able to trigger functions when the mouse leaves an area, sort of like
$('#someDiv').mouseout or $('#someDiv').mouseleave
except instead of passing the div to the function I have a dimension I'd like to pass to it.
I have box like so[code]...
I have calculated the dimensions from the left of the box to 25% of the width of the box to the right (or 100px from the left of the box) and also calculated the height of the box and top offset. I want to be able to say if the mouse leaves those dimensions, run a function.
Can I pass the dimensions and use mouseout or mouseleave? is this possible without using an HTML element?

In a few words it creates a button which when it is clicked it launches the add_text script. Add text script creates a text element for a form and puts a random value for the textbox. Textbox also takes a name which is of array type name="txt[]". Also form has the post method.
When I press e.g. 4 times the add text field button 4 text boxes are added. But when I click the submit button I get a result of 1 instead of 4 when the print count($txt) is executed. Copy paste the code to see the problem.
how can I make ajax pass variables to php, I been trying to use $POST but its not working for me, I have this script
Code JavaScript:
function get_school_data()
{
var xmlhttp;[code]....
What I am trying to achieve is to send the value of country to php and have it stored in a variable so I can then select a different table in the database, but when I do it the way I am, it does not work, as it gives me an undefined variable
I have this [code]...
It works perfectly fine in IE but it won't work in firefox. Both link and var does not appear in the URL when I get to index.php.
Can anyone explain why? How is it not working in firefox?
I'm making this ajax call:
Code:
url = "/GeoAdaptaApp/geoLogger/logGuiEvents?json="+aLotOfJSONStuff;
encUrl = encodeURI(url,"UTF-8");
new Ajax.Request(encUrl, {
method: 'get',
onSuccess: this.sendQueueToServerSuccess( this,logConsole ),

The JSON string seems correct (I checked it with a validator) and it worked on an Ajax.updater (but i need a request now). Firefox keeps telling me:

The call always end up in the onFailure block. Full request here: [URL] It's very strange, Is there a better way to pass json objects to the server?
i am developing a web application in which i have to retrieve the user browser and platform information. i am using javascript to get this information and tryin to pass these values to the html hidden form element. pasting a brief code from my application.

I've got a really simple function I want to create, a confirm delete function that is applied to all links with a class of delete. A confirm message appears when the link is clicked, returning false if cancel is clicked.

I am writing a Javascript UI component. I have already written a
"disable()" method for it, but I would like to go one step further in
order to make my component as compatible with existing HTML controls as
possible.
With standard HTML controls we can do this:
myTextField.disabled = true;
and as soon as this property is set, I assume there is a property
listener of some kind that is invoked to change the appearance and
value etc of the control.
I want to write my own 'property listener' to do this with my control.
Can I do it in Javascript or is this too "low level", requiring code at
the browser implementation level?
The html part:
Code HTML4Strict:
<div id='data'></div>
<form action="">
<input id="nomeInput" type="text" name="nomeInput" value="" autocomplete="false"/>
[Code].....
This is the entry point for doing an autocomplete, but for know, I would just like to ask:
What should we do so that, the text that is typed, appears on that alert box?
How do I add an event listener to a few text boxes that prevents the user from typing anything but digits. I use the numbers entered in the text boxes in calculations afterwards so I don't want the user to enter "one" instead of "1" etc... Also, the range of possible numbers is too big for a drop down menu.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the addEventListener function to set an event listener but I don't understand why it won't work. Before i was using another method to handle events, but I needed more control over which event handlers get run and when.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function runMe(){
[Code]....
I'm using Google Chrome, but it won't work in Firefox either. Obviously it won't work in IE, since IE doesn't support that method. The script gives no errors at all. The runMe() function does get executed, I tested this with alerts.
I want each instance of an object to be able to listen for input events.
When the event occurs, a method of the object should be called, such
that "this" is in scope and refers to the object instance.
Is this possible? Example:
function MyConstructor(element)
{
//element is some HTML element
this.addListeners(element);
this.foo = "Bar";
return this;
}
MyConstructor.prototype.addListeners = function(element)
{
element.addEventListener("keypress", this.doSomething, true);
}
MyConstructor.prototype.doSomething = function(e)
{
alert(this.foo.length); //Error: this.foo has no properties
alert(this);
//shows the HTML element that triggered the event
}
Is there any way to get "this" to refer to the object in the event listener?
