View 1 RepliesI have spent the last week trying to figure out how to do the following: User types some text in a text box. The autocomplete queries a php script that returns JSON of matched values. I have got thedrop down list to show these values but I cannot for the life of me get the matched characters to turn bold. For example, if the user types in "rav" and my list contains:
RAVEN
RAVE
RAVEL
then I want it to appear as
RAVEN
RAVE
RAVEL
My current JS code is as follows (along with HTML):
$(function() {
$( "#query" ).autocomplete({
source: "get_json.php",
[code].....
As a recent convert to jQuery I'm getting to grips with the jQuery autocomplete plug-ins which are available. I thought I'd replace some of my combo boxes with these as they'd be very useful and make life easier for my users.
I can understand how they work and how the values returned can be passed on via my forms, however, whilst I'd like my users to see meaningful results in the list of the autocomplete, I would like to pass on an ID for that field entry during form submission, rather than the friendly data which they see. Is there a way to show users 'friendly' information but pass on the ID to the submission script?
Below code is working fine while type some characters in the text box, But i need to trigger it while focus on a text box through tab key.
$("#product_type_sug").autocomplete(myBaseUrl+"types/autoComplete/", {
width: 192,
extraParams: {
type_id: function() {return $("#product_type").val(); }
},
matchContains: true,

I am using the jquery autocomplete pugin fromhttp://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/
I need to perform an action if no data is returned from the autocomplete search but there seems sto be no way to do that. Any ideas pls?
Does anyone have a library or patch to call a handler if a user leaves an autocomplete field without choosing one of the autocomplete options - i.e. they've entered free text. I'm working with an app that populates multiple fields from a single auto-complete value, and our latest requirement is to clear out a bunch of fields if the user's entered something manually - rejecting autocomplete suggestions. My initial attempts at hooking into onkeyfoo and onblur haven't lead anywhere productive, and I'm hoping someone else has managed to overcome the gnarly event and timing dependencies involved with onkeyfoo and blur being used for standard autocomplete behaviour.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the following error in a javascript I wrote. The script works
fine, but why is the error being displayed???
function chgMusicLink(userid,userlink,usertype) {
var card_music_id = document.getElementsByName(userid)[0].value;
document.getElementsByName(userlink)[0].href="/card_music_preview.tcl?card_music_id="+card_music_id+"&card_music_type="+usertype;
}
have an array of objects which is gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray which has 2 properties (UserID & UserInfo).
For example:
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[0].UserID = 111;
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[0].UserInfo = "AAA-123";
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[1].UserID = 222;
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[1].UserInfo = "BBB-333";
What is the fastest way to check whether a specific UserID exists in the array using Jquery or Javascript because gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray has got 8000 records?
I am trying to pass the imageID element through to the listener, it doesnt seem to work though.

My code:
function run() {
for(var k = 0; k < newPhotos.length; k++)
{[code]....
I get an error on this line Quotedocument.getElementById(imageId).style.backgroundImage = "url(" + newPhotos[k] + ")";
the error is: QuoteObject Required
I'm just not sure what object they are talking about. This piece of code basically goes through and assigns x amount of divs a background image.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a jQuery autocomplete application where the user types a query into a text box and autocomplete suggestions are returned. (It's working fine.) I would like to restrict the suggestions that are returned by passing the value of the selected option from a drop-down list (#deptField3) to the PHP script that does the autocomplete look-up.

I have a autocomplete box using this plugin[URL]... Returns results no problem. I can't get my head round how to add an event when a selection is made. Basically when someone selects one of the autocomplete options I want to redirect to a specific page (index.php?cms&p=tpl&s=edit&tplid='id of selected option')
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#searchfield").autocomplete('index.php?acms&s=ajax&amod=tpl&ajax=search');
});
hope this makes sense, guessing its really simple and I have just been trying to over complicate things.
