JQuery: Hidden Div To Be Displayed On Hover
Nov 7, 2011
I've made a little short jQuery code where I hide a div, which should be displayed upon hover over another div. The problem is that since it's a class, it happens for all other hidden divs. I guess I should use "this" somewhere? So it only affect the div I'm currently hovering, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's harder than that? This is the simple JavaScript:
Code JavaScript:
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery('.lid').hide();
});
jQuery(document).ready(function() {

When someone arrives at my site I want certain tables to be displayed by default and others hidden. On each one of them I want there to be an image that will be a plus sign (eg. plus.png) for the hidden ones and a minus sign (eg. minus.png) for the shown ones. When someone for example clicks on the plus.png image on a hidden table I want the table to show itself and the image to change to the minus.png one.

I have a dropdown style navigation menu which contains a <div id="MenuBar1"> holding the main heading of the menu item. I then a child <div id="DropBox1"> within that, that drops down on mouseover of the parent <div id="MenuBar1">. I am doing this using the following functions (I've tried all these variations with limited success)...
function DropDown3() {
$('#DropBox1,#DropBox2,#DropBox3,#DropBox4,#DropBox5').css({ opacity: 0.0 });$('#MenuBar1').hover(function() {
$('#DropBox1').stop().animate({ height: '120', opacity: 1.0, duration: 'slow' });
},

I have a script which loads tooltips on my webpage. The tooltips are embedded within a series of table cells. Initially some columns are visible and some are hidden. Columns which are visible by default work just fine. The problem is columns that are hidden by default are not loading the tooltip.
Code JavaScript:
$('.show-tooltip-text').each().parent().hover(showTooltip, hideTooltip);
Each cell has a span which is hidden by default with the class "show-tooltip-text". The purpose of this code is to add a hover event to the parent of this span which is the td element.

Umm, this is a tricky one to add a descriptive title for!
Basically I have two links on the page that go to the same page when clicked. What I want to do is when I hover over one of those links for the hover to work for both of them and visa versa.
So I have this links
<a class="connected" href="">Connected</a>
<a class="remove" href="">Remove</a>
a.connected { background: url(../images/connected.png) no-repeat 0 top; }
a.connected:hover { background: url(../images/connected.png) no-repeat 0 bottom; }
[Code]....

I am trying to get a simple set of Javascript tabs to work properly. I have just two tabs and I want to set up the script to have the second tab automatically hidden prior to reading the javascript code because right now it shows the contents of both tabs when the page is loading and then the second tab disappears after all the script has loaded.
I have the jquery script linked to on the page and here is the way my script looks to run the tabs:
Code:
I want to add something like style="visibility:hidden;" to the DIV that isn't shown on page load and have it added and removed as necessary when users click on the tabs. So basically I would like the generated code to look like this:
Code:

Specifically, assume I have a div tag of absolute dimensions. I need
to figure out, first, whether or not the text inside the div tag is
partially hidden by the overflow setting, and if so, what the hidden
text is.
Is this even possible? Obviously, the rendering engine in the browser
"knows" this information, but is it accessible through Javascript?

I have written a very simple test. When I click on a link the page is loaded, then I press the back-button and when I click the link again, the page is loaded BUT then the first page is automatically displayed again. In Google chrome this works fine, but on iPhone 4, HTC WildFire S and HTC Sensation it does not work.
Please try this:
1. Navigate to "[URL]" (==> shows PAGE 1)
2. Just press "login" (form is not implemented) (==> shows PAGE 2)
3. Click on the first item "Click here" (==> shows PAGE 3)
4. Press back-button (==> shows PAGE 2)
5. Click on the first item "Click here" again ( ==> shows PAGE3 BUT then PAGE 2 is automatically shown again)

On page load, the cycle is displayed above some content that should be below the cycle.
And after doing a page reload, the content is indeed pushed down and the display is then correct, with the cycle above said content.
I suppose it is due to a loading race condition, the images being loaded before or after the below content...?

I want to get rid of a flicker. It's caused by moving page content around with jquery's document.ready() function. The problem is the page is displayed, then the content moved, and then redisplayed again causing the "flicker." I just need a to move the content before the page is displayed the first time. Is there an event that runs after the content is loaded but before it is displayed? The code is simply:
$(document).ready(function(){
if($('#menu').children().length != 0){
$('.menu').eq(0).html($('#menu').html());
$('#menuSection').show();
[Code]....
The content cannot be positioned before it hits the client. I'm doing this to get around our CMS's limitation.

I'm using the most basic functionality of the Fancybox plugin. All renders fine in FF 3.5.9 & Chrome 4. Wouldn't you know it, IE 7 has a problem, it does not display the close box and doesn't honor the location of the title. You can see the problem here: [URL]
Click the Players tab and then click any thumbnail.

I'm looking for something that can display a PDF in a way similar to a typical jQuery image gallery (or a desktop PDF viewer, e.g. Acrobat or Preview). I tried out Mike Alsup's jQuery Media Plugin [URL], thinking that the "iframe player" might do the trick. But of course, I still get the default browser behavior for a PDF, which in most cases (like Firefox) is to not display it at all. Works great in Safari, though, especially with the AdobePDFViewer.plugin. So does anyone know of something that could enable PDFs to be displayed on the page?

I'm trying to implement the jQuery Cycle demo from 'mapsup dot com slash jquery'.It works, but my problem is that as the page loads all 3 images are shown briefly, one on top of the other. Once the page is fully loaded everything works OK. I've try removing all unnecessary CSS in an attempt to get it to load faster but it doesn't help. I'm running this on a Drupal site and have tried with caching enabled and disabled, but neither makes a difference, so I'm thinking the problem lies somewhere else. You can see the problem in action at 'cumbrevillas dot com slash landing slash test'.

how to use the autocomplete jQuery plugin best to my needs. I'm looking to replace a select box with the Autocomplete plugin, but not quite sure how to accomplish this. In my select box, I have the option that is displayed is not the same as the data that is submitted.
ex: <option value="123">This is Displayed </option> However, with the autocomplete, since it is using a textbox, the values that are displayed, are submitted. Do I have to hack around using hidden fields to accomplish this type of behaviour?
