JQuery :: Batch Up Settings And AJAX To Server In One Go?
Aug 2, 2011
I have a table that gets served off to a 3rd party site. Each row has "track" and "hide" checkboxes ... I need to save/update these settings as the user updates their settings so I can call them back later on future visits.
(cookies are not an option... because that is too easily lost and there could be thousands of settings over time)
So, I am leaning toward a AJAX POST using Jquery. Rather than submit on every change... I would like to store the settings in JavaScript and then batch submit every 30 seconds or on page unload. I have most if this working... it is the saving of the data and then batch submission code that I am after.
Let me give you the use case and a scenario:
Table with 100 rows and each row has "track" and "hide". Each row may be associated with one "subject" and multiple rows may have the same subject ... so when you track or hide... it tracks multiple rows (highlights, checks their boxes, and grabs the subject from a row field) OR it "hides" multiple rows based on their subject.
All that is working. (Yes!)
Now, because they could be clicking quickly through... they might track then "untrack" the same subject or hide then "unhide" the same subject all within a very short period of time.
I don't want all those AJAX calls!
So, I need some sort of data storage for the "subjects" that puts them in "track" and "hide" datasets ... removes them out if undone ... and occasionally submits whatever the queued up actions are (if any).
Also, there may be settings grabbed on page load that need undone (the track and hide setting grabbed from the DB that pre-dated that visit) ... so it may not as simple as removing from a data set... there should be an explicit "untrack" & "unhide" submission in those cases to update the DB.
I'm trying to write a script that will be loaded from one server into a website on another server. This script is trying to talk (ajax) to the server that it comes from but I'm getting "Access Denied" errors. I'm well aware that cross-domain calls are not allowed for security reasons so my question is how does Google Analytics work because essentially thats what I'm trying to accomplish. I can embed a Google Analytics script into my website and it'll gather data and send it back to Google.
where someData is a vanilla object of key/value pairs, submissionUrl is a valid URL and ajaxSuccess/ajaxError are both functions.Using jQuery 1.5.1, the GET request is delivered to the server without the data. Using jQuery 1.4.4, the request contains the data.Has something changed in the way I should be assigning data to an ajax request in 1.5.1? The docs don't seem to suggest I'm doing anything incorrectly.
I have a batch-file (*.bat) which logon the client to our server, including printer and drive mappings.
Now I want to replace the batch-file with a script for the windows scripting host, because I want the users to enter their username and password, and then the script should make the mappings suitable to the username...
I lookd for the WSH and VBSCRIPT and JSCRIPT, but I didn't get any usable information!
Is it possible, to write such a script? Or does the WSH not support this feature?
I want to create a form where I can choose a local file and the batch file will print it. The function is to print whichever file I chose. Here is the code of printpage.html:
This code is supposed to batch transfer options between selects. It works flawlessly for single values, but when I select multiple options, all of them get deleted, but only one transferred.
I know about the same-origin policy and that one of the only ways to load data from a cross-domain is to load it as JSON. However, all I am trying to do is access data from a server on another port (which I believe the browser still treats as cross-domain). I need to do this because the server my application is on is a map server and the other server (Apache) is the only one that can handle php scripts. I have also tried out the plug-in from [URL] and while it works when I do $('#phpContent').load('http://www.google.com'); it doesn't work when I try $('#phpContent').load('http://localhost:80/mapScripts/getFiles.php'); I have also tried$.get('http://localhost:80/mapScripts/getFiles.php', function(data) { $('#phpContent').html(data); });
So here I am breaking my brain and do not know what else to attempt.
I have a webpage which handle a time-consuming backend processing on the server side. I am hoping to use ajax and display the back-end processing process on the web-front(i.e. in a DIV). .ajaxStart and .ajaxStop sound to be OK if I want to display some fixed content. Is it possible that I grab partial server-side resultset and update a DIV at the front-end without having to wait for the server-side to finish all of the processing.
Below is my sample code which does NOT work for my purpose.
---- <span id="processing_status" class="blink"></span> <div id="processing_log" style="display:none"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> /* This is OK, but I want to display server-side processing records */
I am getting following data from the server Collapse: < allstudents> < student> < rollno>8001< /rollno> < name>AAAA< /name> < /student> < student> < rollno>8002< /rollno> < name>BBBB< /name> < /student> < /allstudents>
I have html page containing div with id 'dvtbl' now I want to generate the following table inside of dvtbl Collapse < table> < tr> < td>< input type=" checkbox" name=" cbRoll" value=" 8001" id=" cbRoll8001" /> < /td> < td>AAAA< /td> < /tr> < tr> < td>< input type=" checkbox" name=" cbRoll" value=" 8002" id=" cbRoll8002" /> < /td> < td>BBBB< /td> < /tr> < /table> h How do I do it using jquery? In the callback function of $.ajax?
Initially I (successfully) tested my project after deploying to the Apache server which is running in the localhost.
But, if I just open the page in a browser (without deploying to the server), the project works fine! How this is possible?
According to my understanding, if we send an AJAX request, which is really an HTTP request, which has to be received by an HTTP server and the response should come from the server.
Problem is, I can't access dataValues at the server side once I assign this same URL to the iframe. Is there any other way to POST JSON value through form submission without ajax? or any other way out, I am trying to download file that is based on some parameters and isn't a direct download link.
My login to the site is being processed using ajax, which does a redirect to the members page upon succesfull loggin in.The login feature however can in fact take a while because we need to initialise quite some data when a user logs in (his details, but also his privileges are loaded, his personal menu based on these privileges are being loaded, we are loading shopping cart info, we are initialising personalisation settings, and a whole lot more.It sounds like a big thing, but it isn't, and once logged in, the application is going great. the only thing is that the login proceure can take 3 - 4 seconds, and I would like to be able to show the client the progress of the serverside script:
"Searching your account..." "Validating your privileges" "Initialising your personal menu" blablabla...
To do this, I might just call an ajax call that starts the login procedure, and then issue another ajax call every 1 second or so to update the status based on some session variables I set in the login procedure and that I can serve to the client when th next ajax calls come in, but I would love for this to work a little nicer as in just needing to initialise ONE ajax call which can send back statusupdates from the server...
I have this Applet-hosted Socket connection to my server and in an ONevent/function I am retrieving all these lovely rows from the server and inserting them into the Select-List. (The on screen appearance of the Select List grows for the first 5 rows then the scroll bar appears if there's more). So far so good. . .
The problem is that none of the rows I'm inserting appear on the screen until I have RETURNed from my function; so If it ended up being 1000 rows then the user sees nothing until they're *all* processed :-( Is this an IE6-only thing? Does it happen with Version 7 or with other browsers? This is disgusting!
Is there an option to set somewhere?
Do I have to hack/force some sort of event (with coresponding ONfunction) and then RETURN from my function and have the ensuing function call me back and repeat till eof?
All I want to do is see my rows grow and counter increment in the select-list (or table) as they appear; is that really too much to ask? Is IBM3270 emulation crap really as far as we've got?
I am using jquery.ajax() to make a POST call to web server which returns HTTP 201 response for successful creation of object at server. Since 201 is a success I expect the success function specified with jquery.ajax to execute but instead it executes the error function specified with jquery.ajax. Here is how I am using jquery.ajax call.
I want to send three text box values to server using jquery ajax. problem is that, i dont know the exact syntax to send three data. When i try sending one data(also change no.of parameters to one at server side method), its going good but when i try to send three text box values, its giving jquery error:"Internal server error". I think I am not sending data in correct way. Example below contains only two sending data, because i was trying to send 2 data first.
Below is the code:
function testCAll() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "dbTest1.aspx/SendMessage",
I wanted to ask how it is possible to get error messages from the server till it is implemented in the remote method. What do you think is the less work intensive alternative.I also wanted to ask if i have two fields A and B, and the values of B depends on A. How do i make it with the plugin and the remote method ?I saw that there is a way of writing custom methods:URL...But how do i combine it with the ajax calls?
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the defaults such as number of thumbnails after initialisation? e.g.$('.changeTo16').live('click', function(){//set gallerific stuffnumThumbs: 16});$('.changeTo8').live('click', function(){//set gallerific stuffnumThumbs: 8}); etc...
I'm using serialscroll jquery plugin from ariel Flesler on this page : http://goo.gl/HMNUX the width of the container (#slideshow) is 100% of the window's width. everything is fine until the user resize the window. Then the pictures are not in the right position anymore. should reset the "offset" setting of the plugin on resize. I tried this, but it doesn't work :
When the number of menus (including a menu and its submenus) reach a particular number, then after that rest of the menus are not getting displayed. Is there any settings available to restrict number of menus in superfish?
I had problem when try to reuse div element with ui.dialog().If I set the width & height the first time it works; but if I call it from second function with different width & height it won't apply the new setting. Also if I manually resize the dialog when it appear after close and reopen it use the new size (resized manually) not the one I specified in the code.is it possible to resize the dialog before it show up?
