I have the following code which populates a combobox from an existing select field and then makes an AJAX call to a JSONP feed. This is all working and the dropdown list is populating however when I place the following code inside the AJAX call the combobox select function is not fired when the item is selected.
I have a textbox and a button. When someone clicks the button, then the ajaxStop() event fires properly. However, when someone types in the textbox and hits the Enter key, the ajaxStop() event does not get fired. Here's the relevant code bits:
The textbox: var keywords = document.createElement('input'); keywords.setAttribute('onkeyup', '$(this).keyup(function (e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { $("#submit_button").click(); } })');
I have a form element that is readonly. <input type="text" id="kfs_acct_1" readonly="false" /> This field is dynamically populated an making it readonly prevents users from changing the value in this field. The problem I have is users click on the field and try to delete it's value. They click in the field and hit their Backspace key. This takes them away from the page to the page from whence they came. Because of the way the form is set up, doing this makes them loose all the data in the form (the one with the readonly box). How can I prevent the Backspace key from fireing and taking the user away from this page? I've tried a few things, but apparently making a field readonly keeps some key events from being seen.
I have some elements that hide and show real quick when I click on the same selected checkbox. I only want to hide or show something on change, and only when I need to. The way the behavior works now is I have 20 checkboxes, and each time I check one (even if it's the same), I see the associated elements hiding, then showing real quick. I don't want anything to happen though if all they do is toggle the checkbox, unless there's a condition to uncheck it. It's kind of hard to convey what I'm talking about here, but maybe my code can shed some light:[code]
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
In IE only, the change event on a select does not seem to fire if the change is made by typing on the keyboard instead of clicking with the mouse. However, when the focus leaves the field, the event fires.
I want to have a combobox with bookmark options. After you select a value from this combobox you can bookmark it with a push button. This should popup a bookmark dialog from the browser bookmark dialog.
Lets say we have 3 options in the value's. Google, Yahoo, Bing When you select Google and you push Place bookmark you should get a browser bookmark dialog with a title "Google search site". The url would be just [URL]
I also want Yahoo with the url [URL] and the bookmark title Search at Yahoo! and Bing with the url [URL] and the title Search at Bing
I have an in-house web application in which the user inputs items to a text field. Over 80% of all data entered into the field falls is one of three values, the other 20% is random. Can I make a select field that lets the user override the values with one of his own, or equally, create a textbox with a dropdown menu to select from?
The goal is to get the behavious of a web browser's address bar: the same control could accept random input, but also make suggestions in a pre-populated dropdown list.
Ideally, the control would work with and without the mouse, as the users are not confined to any single platform and we have Linux and Windows users as well.
I am not sure if this should be under JavaScript or CSS as the solution probably depends on both technologies.
I have 4 HTML selects, ID'ed as "genres", "artists", "albums" and "songs". When you click on "genres", "artists" or "albums" the other selects should be updated through an AJAX call that does an sql query and respond back with JSON data. Sounds simple enough... but I can't get it to work. After just reloading the page, I can select a genre, and all other fields are updated, but then the other selects don't work any more.... as if jquery doesn't fire anymore when clicking on them.
This is my code
function updateSongs(JSON_data){ var song_options = ''; for (var i = 0; i < JSON_data.length; i++) {
I am having a bit of trouble with a change event. I am trying to make a simple address book that will allow you to add or modify contacts. This is a piece of the code that I am working on.The script runs without error and initializes the form. The click events for the buttons work correctly, but the change event for the select box will not fire. I have been searching for an answer and cannot find one.
var init = function () { var selectCell = document.getElementById("select-box-cell");
<select name="combobox"> <option value="value1">THEVALUE1</option> <option value = "value2">THEVALUE2</option> </select>
and let's say i select "THEVALUE2". i have a button to display the value that is selected, is there any way to display "THEVALUE2" instead of "value2" ?
I'm attempting to bind an event to a combo box, so that when a value is selected I can kick off a function. I cannot seem to bind an event successfully. I have looked at the .select event and tried it, and perhaps I don't understand how this code is to be used:
Supply a callback function to handle theselectevent as an init option.$( ".selector" ).autocomplete({ select: function(event, ui) { ... } });Bind to theselectevent by type:autocompleteselect.$( ".selector" ).bind( "autocompleteselect", function(event, ui) { ... });
Do I need to add both of these? Just one? I've found the place in the combobox code where the underlying select box changes, but I don't want to hack at this code. I'd be happy to look at a successful implementation.
This function allows you to generate a Dynamic ComboBox via another combox selected. That is, it generates a combobox according to the one you selected first, as a filter. But consegigo not change the variable "uf" to "select ". When I change this variable appears the following error message: Notice: Undefined index: in uf cidades.php on line 5
Basically I want to prevent a user from moving to another field if the current one is invalid (non-numeric).I've tried a few things that I though would do the job, I've also tried using the change event with the last line (resetting the focus to the current element) but no dice.
jQuery('.setupprice, .monthlyprice, .quantity','#config_dialog').live('focusout',function(e) { var val = parseFloat(jQuery(this).val());
I am building a user-based online application using jquery, and I am concerned about the possibility of users being able to hijack my ajax functions. I'm sure there is a standard way of dealing with this, but I don't know what it is.For example, if users are logged in,and want to send an instant message to each other, they can use a simple messaging system.An ajax call passes their message to a back-end handler script, like so:
I am trying to use the code below to create the following behavior for comboboxes with class = "requiredCombo" -
1. If the selected index is 0, I want the font to be grey; otherwise black.
2. When the mouse enters the box, I want to change the font to black while the user is making a selection.
3. If the mouse leaves the combo and the user did not click (that is, they just ran the mouse over the combobox) and the selected index is 0, I want the font to be grey otherwise black.
4. If the user clicks on a selection and it is not index = 0 I want the font to be black.
The following code works great in Firefox but in IE 7 when I include the "mouseleave" code, the dropdown list opens up when I click the dropdown but as soon as I try to move into the list to make a selection, the dropdown list closes. Any suggestions what I can do?
You know how when you visit [URL] your browser jumps to #test1 automatically? Not talking about when you open page.html and THEN click an anchor to #test1. I mean typing the anchor explicitly at the end of the url before even visiting page.html. How do you prevent that jump? Just a sample scenario, to make sure I'm being extra clear:
Say I have a site that's centered on the page, and do $ ("#some_content").slideDown(). If the appearance of the new content means that the page no longer fits in the browser window, scrollbars will appear, and so the available page width decreases slightly, and so my centered content jumps left while it's sliding down. Is there a decent workaround for this? Best I can figure out at the moment is to persuade the browser to always display scrollbars, which isn't exactly ideal.
