JQuery :: Preventing Browser Scrollbars From Bumping Content In SlideDown()
Sep 4, 2009
Say I have a site that's centered on the page, and do $ ("#some_content").slideDown(). If the appearance of the new content means that the page no longer fits in the browser window, scrollbars will appear, and so the available page width decreases slightly, and so my centered content jumps left while it's sliding down. Is there a decent workaround for this? Best I can figure out at the moment is to persuade the browser to always display scrollbars, which isn't exactly ideal.
I have a div that is filled with content dynamically and is fixed so it will always be in the same place even when you scroll. I need scrollbars to appear when the div is has too much content and goes beyond the screenborder.
[URL].. and try to click on one of the wide Buttons in the left part of the page (Dílna, Divadelní soubor II., Kalanetika etc.). The problem is, that the hidden content shows and slides out, but just after finishing the animation, it jumps a little bit back. I don't know what to modify in my CSS so that the animation behaved correctly…
slideUp() works fine and it animates the sliding effect. But slideDown() just shows the hidden content but not animate it. Also slideToggle() doesn't slide it down just shows it. So only slideUp() works...
But when I click the browser backward button and it goes back to the page I was, its content remains faded out, which is kind of awkward.. I just want the page content fading in again if the browser backward button is clicked.
I am using jcookie to store certain information (user cart) and the idea is to re display the contents of the cart when the user visits the website at some other point in future.
So if user adds the item to his cart and i) closes the browser and opens a new browser window after some time OR ii) opens a new tab : In both cases should see the item added to the cart
I am using jcookie.js library.The code I am using to create cookie and add cart contents to it is:
function checkCookies(){ var rented_car_timings_cookie = $.cookie("rented_car_timings"); var $rentTimingsContainer = $('<div class="module">' + rented_car_timings_cookie + '</div>');
[Code].....
Now the problem I am seeing is that the cookies work if I refresh the same page or open a new tab in the same Browser window: I am able to see content added to cart. however, If I open a new window , then I do not see the same .
I was checking on jQuery plugins, but most of the scrollbar ones are using like 4 - 5 div classes just to stylize one scrollbar and most of the classes names must be specific to make it work with the plugin, is there any way to give some style to a scrollbar without doing all that coding?
How exactly does the sizing of the grid work? I have a grid that I've tried to experiment with and it seems like no matter what setting I use, there is a vertical and a horizontal scrollbar. the only thing that changes is if it stretches to fill the its container div. How do I get it to fit within a specific width and also to not display scrollbars?
I have an accordion style navigation bar which works fine, except when the user enlarges the screen with, for example, Ctrl and Plus.You can see what I'm talking about here:http://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/igsn/example/Is there any way using JavaScript to detect when the user enlarges the screen?Is it even good style to do this?I've found the offending css rule which makes the menu slow to a crawl in anything but its original resolution, but as this is a template that I have to use, there is not much scope to change things.
I have a site project where I'm using an overlay to display an iframe that contains a slide show. When the overlay/iframe loads there is a scrollbar on the parent window. What would be the proper jquery syntax to write a function that tells the parent window to set overflow to hidden to hide the scrollbar when the iframe loads? I was thinking maybe this, but I'm not sure of the correct syntax:
I have an application that resizes itself upon window resize. Theproblem is that if I resize down the window so it is smaller, twoscrollbars appear during resize (nothing new for now...), but thecomputed body width is the width with the scrollbars.Then, when I stop resizing, my app resizes itself, but as you may haveguessed, there are a small empty space on right and bottom,corresponding to the scrollbars.I have not found a pretty way to do it (of course I could set a timerinside my resize function that will call itself again 10ms later, just
i have found more script for autoresize a popup browser windows to the image opened but I search something that autoresize the browser windows popup to che content(for example a table with an image and a textin in the cell)....
In my webpage is a div where the maincontent of the page is loaded in via Ajax. Now of course whenever I apply the browser refresh butten that content initializes.
To everybody who's interested,here is a nice cross-browser script which will zoom the page in case it isdesigned for a minimum resolution. The script will zoom the page to fit the width of the window so that the user does not have to scroll the page to the right or to the left.minW is the minimum width for your homepage to look good.divWrap is a DIV with which you should wrap your entire homepage.This script will also work when the window is resized.
<script type="text/javascript"> var minW = 1200; $(function () {
jQuery - Scrolling browser Window. I have two demos of scrolling page content with jQuery.
This one - [url] is scrolling the contents inside a container and it works as I wanted on Mac/PC
Code:
I need the same effect as above but I need to scroll the whole browser window.
I have a demo here - [url]
Code:
Problem here is on the Mac the transition are jumpy and it seems to flash the first yellow div before sliding up or down. Testing on a PC it will slide down but won't slide up. How can I get the whole browser window to slide up and down with a smooth transition.
I am interested in using a popup to show flash games in it, so I did then my interest went to make all games playable in full screen so I did that too and got success, but I am facing issues due to wmode, if you visit my this site link [URL] and click on play game for other browsers while using google chrome browser, you will see the error there will be blocks appearing in the game, while if click on play for google chrome then this error is not there, its just because of WMODE, for google chrome button I am using wmode while for all other browsers I am not doing this.
The reason for not using wmode to my other browser play button is that if I add wmode to the games then the performance of the game is highly damaged in fireforx and internet explorer, and also to some extent in other browsers including google chrome. It is that I want to get rid of this wmode=opaque thing as it makes the game slow even in google chrome which is effecting game playing quality, I used window,transparent too but nothing good came out of it. Only google chrome is asking for the wmode, while our step child internet explorer is happy with it. Some more information I would like to provide so that things work fast, I am using blogger blog, I have knowledge of html, xhtml, css and for java or jquery its hint and trial.
how to imitate browser zoom with javascript?I know you are not allowed to control browser's zoom capabilities, but perhaps there's a way to change all content dimensions with javascript?In firefox, when you press ctrl+, the whole page resizes appropriately, even background images.With this imitation JS zoom, background images would not zoom since there is no scale size numer or anything like that in CSS.It would simply be cool to have a script that resizes everything on the page. That way, you can design highdefinition content that fits a 1280 * 960 browser frame, but can zoom out for smaller resolutions (1024 or 800).
when you have a page that contains an iframe, and then navigate inside the iframe, hitting the browsers back button will only affect the contents of the iframe and not the entire page. I've been searching all over for solutions and cant find one that works for my current implementation.
function ShowPage(frame) { frames[0].location = frame+'.html' frame.contentWindow.location.replace(newUrl); } [Code]...
I have imported css and link to my page. It works fine for all other browsers except Safari browser. When I am loading the page in Safari4 all the page content loads without style. My CSS hosted in CDN.
Does anyone knows a method to measure the scrollbar's width, which works in Safari/Chrome.
The innerWidth function doesn't seem to take the scrollbar's width into account when measuring the innerWidth of the child element of a scrollbared element.
I have some javascript that works in IE, but not in Firefox:Basically, I just want to replace the contents of a span element. Nothing fancy. But all my google searches come up blank, and I'm having a bit of a brain fart.Can anyone show me what is the proper cross-browser method to dynamically replace the text inside a span element?(I did it originally with replaceChild, but after about 500 calls to the js function, the page reloads, and that is not good.
I have a textbox and a button. When someone clicks the button, then the ajaxStop() event fires properly. However, when someone types in the textbox and hits the Enter key, the ajaxStop() event does not get fired. Here's the relevant code bits:
The textbox: var keywords = document.createElement('input'); keywords.setAttribute('onkeyup', '$(this).keyup(function (e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { $("#submit_button").click(); } })');
Basically I want to prevent a user from moving to another field if the current one is invalid (non-numeric).I've tried a few things that I though would do the job, I've also tried using the change event with the last line (resetting the focus to the current element) but no dice.
jQuery('.setupprice, .monthlyprice, .quantity','#config_dialog').live('focusout',function(e) { var val = parseFloat(jQuery(this).val());
