I'm looking for a way to select a directory from a local drive through a
form (like input type="file" except I want to get a directory name not just
a file). I've searched every way I could think of (refer to my brain comment
above) and come up with absolutly nothing.
i have this web application in which the user has to browse and select a folder but not file. i used <input type="file"> , which helps in retrieving only files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.

I have a form with three Input File form objects in which the user can add image files. But I am worried about the problems these controls can lead, because to check the file size the server needs to receive the entire file, so serious problems may happen, for example:
1. Malicious user trying to collapse the website sending big files.
2. Users that have not seen the warning “Maximum size: 100 KB for each image, and try to send three image files consisting in 1,5 MB each one. These users will have a bad experience waiting one hour or more to upload the images, and after that receive an alert saying “Oooops! Your image files are too big. And also, web server will waste an important amount of resources. The same case with 100 users at the same time can be a nightmare!
I have been searching a way to check the file size on client side without having to force user to install anything, but I think that there isn’ t nothing to do with javascript. But I found an interesting PHP article that explains a way to do it with this server side language. The technique consists in:
“A hidden field (measured in bytes) that precede the file input field, and its value is the maximum filesize accepted. This is an advisory to the browser, PHP also checks it. This form element should always be used as it saves users the trouble of waiting for a big file being transferred only to find that it was too big and the transfer failed. Code:
I have a webserver setup in my home, with an index file that is an access
comtrol page, that, if the authentication is sucessfull, takes the user to a
specific directory. In this directory I only have image files in .jpg format.
I need to create a page were the user can either browse the entiry
directory, or specify a filename to search for, wildcards enabled, and
beiing able to see a reduced size image in the result page when hovering the
image/file result link. Any Ideas?
I have almost 300 photos that I want to have in a gallery that is easy to use. I would like to avoid making 300 list items (as is necessary with all of the auto rotators and other jquery plug ins that I've found) but to have the images load straight from the folder after the rest of the website has loaded.
It wold be nice if maybe there was a pretty horizontal scroll bar or something and the image in the middle of the page was biggest if possible, but I'm really not picky. I don't know what the best way is to display so many photos! They don't need captions or anything.
how can i let javascript search for the newest file in a specified directory? this must be a picture

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a number of image files that have been pre-selected by the user
for downloading. I'd like to be able to have the user click a button
and have a directory browser pop-up window available for the user to
select the directory into which the image files will be downloaded.
I thought that this would be simple to find but...
If this is possible I further need to know:
1) how to access the directory path string (which will be used to
download the files)
2) how to set any available default values for the directory bvrowser.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a website script written in php, now the menu it has is in php and uses a tpl file. This is very crude compared to what i need, now i post here in DHTML because the DHTML drop down menus are more what i need.
Here's the problem. I want to install this for the top navigation bar. It should appear on the whole site. But how do you get a DHTML menu into php script. The current menu is php script, and it is linked in each of the php pages at the bottom. And it needs to have the ability to recognize whether the user is logged in.
Am developing a form in which user image should be viewed and stored in web database. I am using html5 and javascript. While using input type= "file" to browse the image, chrome shows the file path as c:/fakepath/*.jpg.
How can I get the full path name in google chrome to display image and to store it in web database.
If you have some other options to display and store the image in web database using javascript and html5
I know that the input "file" type can't be customized very well using css, so I figured I might try to make my own with javascript. The only problem is, I don't know too much about javascript. point me in the right direction on how to make my own custom file upload box in javascript that works the same way as the default one works (so I don't have to edit my PHP coding). Also, heres something I'd like to achieve: [URL]

In Mozilla (Firefox 1.0.7) I can cloneNode a file input element that
has a selected file value and appendChild it to another form without a
problem.
IE 6 loses the selected file value. Is this a bug with IE that it
loses the value, or with FF that it keeps it?
I'd really like to be able to maintain the selected file value in IE.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with cloneNode that can
provide some insight?
I have not tried this on any browsers other than IE 6 and FF 1.0.7.
<INPUT id="File1" style="WIDTH: 530px; HEIGHT: 22px" type="file"
size="70" name="File1" onclick="myFunction;">
Using this code, I'm able to catch the event that occurs when I click
in the "browse" button or in the text input box.
I need to catch another event: when the user has chosen the file in the
dialog and pressed "Open".
I can't us onpropertychange because what I want to do is to check the
name of the chosen file and eventually modify the text area. This would
make a recursive onpropertychange event call... so I need something
else.
i need to assign onclick function to file inupt, in fire fox on windows
function is executing just after click, but on mac it seems to be execut
