function calculateOld() {
// get both values
unitprice = document.forms["invoice"].unitprice.value;[code].....
This does calculate what I need but only if I have up to two rows. I need to make the function dynamically count how many rows there are, and calculate the linetotal for each row. And here's where my limited JS knowledge brings me to a halt.I have been thinking about what this new and dynamic function should look like, but that's the best I could produce...
function calculate() {
var unitprice[i]= document.forms["invoice"].unitprice[i].value;
var units[i]= document.forms["invoice"].units[i].value;[code]....
The <div class="child"> width value is always 10 pixels less than <div id="parent"> width value. How can it be calculated so any width value is given to <div id="parent">, its child gets 10 pixels less than that?
I've created the code below which automatically adds two fields together (drop-down boxes),without the need for a submit or input button.Now,I am trying to do the same again, but this time instead of having drop-down boxes,i need to have text input boxes.(eventually i will be adding monetary values together).

<script type="text/javascript"><!-- function updatesum() { document.form.sum.value =[code]......
1) I need to calculate a total dynamically.I have an input with the price of a product and next the amount. As the users inserts the amount I would like the total box to give the amount*price number. So if the price is 3 and user inserts:
1 - then total should display 3. Then the user inserts 0 (amount is now 10) total should display 30.The problem is that when i ask for the value in the onkeyup event of the amount input i don't get the value with the last key (same with onkeypress event). I could add that number (if it's a number) or see if it's backspace or any char but there should be an easy answer.I solved it by setting a timeout and using a callback function so as to have the latest value of the amount but it's an awfull solution (though not expensive in code).
2) Avoid focus reset when i update the value of the amount.I've managed to add commas on the fly to the amount like when the user types "1000" the number displayed is "1,000". In firefox it works great but in IE and Chrome it resets the focus each time i update the field. So when you try to move your cursor back it returns to the last position (maybe because the value of the input is changed).
here's my code:
Code:
function updatePrice(){ setTimeout(function(){callback()}, 10); }
i try to figure out how to calculate string width in a textarea while typing in it. the textarea has a fixed start width. when the string gets longer as the textarea width, the textarea should be made bigger while typing programatically.
my only problem is to determine the size of the string in the textarea. i know the font family and font size.
I am trying to calculate text fields from results of php query. My fields come from the query as amount1, amount2.... What I need is for JS to Sum those fields dynamically, I already did code for when i have all the values and for when the text field name is the same, but never for query results where the names are different. This is what I have so far but its not working
function calculatesumexcon() { var a, total = 0; var countJS = "<?=$count?>"; <-- variable of php that gives me the number of rows I am getting on the query var i ; for ($i=0;$i<countJS;$i++){ var elements = document.getElementsById('amount' + i); for(a=0; a<elements.length; a++){ total += (parseFloat(elements[a].value)); }} document.getElementById("totalextracon").value = total ; }
I can get the number of contributers to add up but not the total amount of dollars they contributed. I am not sure if my function is wrong or if I am just confused with what variable to output for the dollar amount total.
I have a table with a number of rows in it each with a delete link which calls $("#" + id).remove(); of course passing in the right table row id each time. I also have a row at the bottom that has divs with totals of columns in each row. After I add a row to the table I call a function that goes through each table row, gets the values that I need and keeps a running total. I finally update the divs in the last row with these totals. However, when I do the row.remove() and then call my calculate function it never completes.
In my debugging it looks like the tblWorksheet table that I'm trying to get to, to get it's rows, is no longer recognized. So I'm wondering if instead of removing the row by the id if I need to call the remove function on the table to tell it to remove the row. If so I'm not sure of the syntax to do that. The following doesn't work. $("#tblWorksheet").remove("#" + id) If that's not the case, why I couldn't get to my table after removing the row?
I've been messing with this code for about a couple of hours, and I did everything down to the wire..yet still I am unable to get it to work. When I input the numbers, and click off to the side nothing appears down at the final textarea of the form which is suppose to show the average.I've tried just about everything, sadly all I have to go by is other example codes, and the very intricate instructions which states I must pass the values to the calcAvg() to the second function of performCalc(), which I did, and then I assigned the var calcResult another value. From there I did the return..and after that I'm rather loss as to what to do next to get this code to work, any tips?

I am having some difficulty in constructing a window.confirm() function that works with my code.So if the form data is valid, I need to use a window.confirm() dialog box to show the user's total cost based on the rental rate of equipment chosen and the reservation period. The user must accept the cost by pressing the confirm button, and if user cancels do not submit data.I have written this code but cannot figure out how to find the number of days from the 2 date fields and use that to calculate and display the total cost.
//confirm submit and display rental cost var equip = document.forms[0].equipment.value var pDate = document.forms[0].pickupDate.value[code].....
Has anyone an idea, if my thoughts on that are correct oder if this behaviour could be a problem? And is there probably a better way to combine functions, so that all functions would be in one column?
I am creating breadcrumbs using XML with the following code: // <![CDATA[ var root = null; $(document).ready( function(){ $.get( "/_assets/xml/sitemap.xml", function( data ) { root = data; var pathname = window.location.pathname; var local_url = "*[url=" + pathname + "]"; var currpage = $(root).find(local_url).attr("name"); var parentEls = $(root).find(local_url).parents(); var mapped = $(parentEls).map(function () { var element = $(this).attr("name"); var element_url = $(this).attr("url"); var element_wrap = $(this).wrap('<a href="' + element_url + '"/>').attr("name"); return element_wrap; }).get() .reverse() .join(" / "); $("#breadcrumb").append("<p>" + mapped + " / " + currpage + "</p>"); });}); // ]]>
The breadcrumbs are displaying perfectly, I'm just having a hard time inserting the <a> tag via .wrap() here: var element_wrap = $(this).wrap('<a href="' + element_url + '"/>').attr("name"); I want to attach a link to each element's URL and return the name of the tag. The <a> tags aren't being applied here, what am I doing wrong?
I have a set or icons that which over time I replace with a different icon and and add a onclick event to them. This is my code
function updateStatusIcons(retText) { updatingStatuses = true; var updates = retText.split("|"); for (z=0; z<updates.length; z++) {
[Code]....
Everything works fine except for the onclick event. In the hover message of the icon, the correct project ID is displayed in the message, hoever in the function, the onclick funtion always loads the page with the last set project id. How can I pass the project id into the onclick function and make it stay fixed and not be the value of that it was last set to?
I'm using a 3rd party API that does asynchronous requests for me and directs response to a callback that I specify. Since my code can issue multiple requests concurrently I want some mechanism to match each response to the specific request e.g. attach a unique ID to be returned with the response. The 3rd party API does not allow me to attach any user context to the request so the only way I could figure out how to do this was to dynamically generate a callback function per request and embed the unique id in the body of that function. When the callback is invoked I can use the information to complete my handling of the response.
1) First of all if anybody has a better idea on how to achieve the above without dynamically generating script I'd be happy to hear it.2) Regardless of (1), if using my proposed method repeatedly I will be generating a lot of garbage over time, so I want to clean up after myself. Meaning, to delete the dynamic callback after it completes. Below is an example of how I wanted to do it, but it seems not to work:
Is there a way to know when a function is available for me to call it from a dynamically loaded a javascript?
I use this code to load the include.js file and then I call testIncludeFn() from it:
<code>
var html_doc = document.getElementsByTagName('head').item(0);
var file = document.createElement('script'); file.setAttribute('language','javascript'); file.setAttribute('type','text/javascript'); file.setAttribute('src','/include.js'); html_doc.appendChild(file);
// here I would like to be able to wait for the script to become available
testIncludeFn();
</code>
It works in IE and sometimes I get it to work in FF 1.5, but I would like to have a way of reliably calling testIncludeFn(). Can I pool somehow the DOM to see if the load completed. How?
I am currently working on a tween script that I am hoping to make so it allows the user to choose and object than the property it tweens, whether it be height or opacity.so currently my problem is getting the function to accept dynamic property selction.for example, the following.
Code: function tween(object,property,to,time){ original = object+property;
