I want to call the click event of the link (anchor tag) on the click of the button. I used this code below in the click event of button to call links click event and it works fine in IE.
document.getElementById('linktag').click();
But, this doesn't work in Firefox. I googled a bit and found that in firefox, you have to do something more to achieve this behaviour. So, I ended up doing this on button click to work in firefox:
var link=document.getElementById('linktag'); var e = document.createEvent('MouseEvents'); e.initEvent(
[code]....
The above code does the click on link when I click on the button. But my problem now is that I have defined a link as
and when click is called and mailto links opens my email client, it somehow ignores the subject and body parameters of the link. It works properly when i actually click a link element. but it doesn't work when i simulate the click event by code written above. above dispatching event code somehow ignores the link parameters?
What I could like to do is use JQuery .click and .ajaxmethods but the only thing I am unsure of is hot to get the ID of the a href tag containing the unique item ID that relates to the db record. Can I use this.id?
It only breaks when located inside the click handler. It does not return response headers or a response. Is there something about event handlers and ajax that I'm missing?
big fan -- first time poster. I've been learning javascript and jquery on the fly so bear with me if I seem to lack understanding of what may be semantic basics.
Anyway, I'm building a mobile app using phonegap. One page grabs data for a table from ajax, and each table element has a delete button in one of the cells. In short: the clicks aren't working. I put the alert in to test, and no dice. I'm not asking for help on the internals, I'm just stumped on why the function isn't being activated,
I have a script that is working well to detect if the client has acrobat reader is installed or not. I can print out next to the PDF link if the user has or hasn't got the reader. My problem is that i want to call that function and print something out only if the user clicks on the link to see the PDF file. This is where i'm at at the mo
Trying to call a function on click of an iframe but could not succeed. I want to call a javascript function when user click on an iframe window before it redirects to iframe source. Currently, It will redirect the user to Iframe source page when user click anywhere on iframe. 'onclick' event handler is not available directly with iframe and I tried to implement some solution to create event handler on iframe but did not work out.
In the Javascript I have Written one Function in that function I have to call another function click() It is not working in mozilla.. The code I have written: document.getElementById('Someid').click();
Okay, I've been searching through here for a day, but haven't quite found what I need. I'm rebuilding my client's site to update the code and get it off of Yahoo's CMS.My rebuilt siteis nearly complete, except the navigation. I want to keep the function that each menu requires a click to open, not just a hover. Unfortunately, the rebuilt site's menu doesn't function and it'll require absolute links to work in the various root and sub folders.This is one suggestion I found in the archives here, expand5.htm, but it doesn't quite look like what I need.I have other sites that are for persons with disabilities that this could be useful for, so I need to be able to reproduce the results.
I want to use an image map for something unique. The image would have about 10 to 15 (religious) symbols. When the user clicks on a particular symbol it will search the site for a few strings relating to that symbol. For example: Symbol 1 would be a cross when clicked it search the site for "christ, crucifix, christianity". I am sure I can make the image map but how do I make the image map call a function instead of a link.
I would like to include drop-down navigation links on my home page that connect to other pages on my website. No problem there. The problem is that some of the other pages contain a series of div elements that are hidden (display:none) until activated by javascript enabled links on the page. Clicking those links changes some of the page's content (within a div) .. almost like a "new" page. [URL]. Here's my question: Is there any way to create menu links on my home page that will open the "concert.html" page AND display the appropriate div content at the same time? For example: on the home page, a menu link under "Concert" that opens that page and automatically displays the "Rock Symphonies" section?
Here are the related HTML div elements on the "concert.html" page: <div id="page1">concept content</div> <div id="page2" style="display:none;">rock symphonies content</div> <div id="page3" style="display:none;">general program content</div> <div id="page4" style="display:none;">ticket price content</div> <div id="page5" style="display:none;">concert committee content</div>
Here are the corresponding js-enabled links: <li><a href="javascript:page(1,5);" id="tag1">Concept</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(2,5);" id="tag2">Rock Symphonies</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(3,5);" id="tag3">General Program</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(4,5);" id="tag4">Ticket Prices</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(5,5);" id="tag5">Concert Committee</a></li>
And here's the javascript I'm using: (scripts/generator.js) function page(id,all) {for (i=1; i<=all; i++) { if (i==id) { document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="inline"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#FFF"; } else { document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="none"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#a4bfed";} }}

I'm designing a quiz page with feedback that is supposed to appear in a popup window. Here's a sample page: [URL] (Fix the link; I can't post proper links until I've been here a bit longer.) I'm using the Greybox popup window library to display the feedback. I know the popups work if I use links, but I need the popups to appear when a the radio button is checked.
According to the Greybox reference [URL], the onclick event should have the form: GB_showCenter(caption, url, /* optional */ height, width, callback_fn) I tried inserting this into the radio button code: <input name="question" type="radio" id="ansA" onclick="GB_showCenter('Answer', feedback/feedback1-1.htm, 250, 400)" /> But it doesn't do anything. How do I trigger the popups with a radio button click?
I just started with Jquery: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#desperation input[type=image]').attr('disabled', true).fadeTo ("fast", 0.10); $('#1').attr('disabled', false).fadeTo("fast", 0.70); }); $('#1').toggle( function () { $('#1').click(function() { $('#1').fadeTo("fast", 1.00).attr('checked', true); $('#2').attr('disabled', false); });}, function () { $('#1').click(function() { $('#1').fadeTo("fast", 0.70).attr('checked', false); $('#2').attr('disabled', true); });}); </script> <div id="skill"> <form action="javascript:void(null);" method="post" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" id="skillplanner" name="skillplanner" > <fieldset id="desperation"><legend>Freetrader Skills: Desperation</ legend> <input type="image" src="files/icons/underdog.png" id="1"></input> <input type="image" src="files/icons/dump_guns.png" id="2"></input> <input type="image" src="files/icons/desperation_fire.png" id="3"></input> <input type="image" src="files/icons/rum_ration.png" id="4"></input> <input type="image" src="files/icons/hasty_fire.png" id="5"></input> </fieldset></form></div> The problem is with the toggle function. On click it should "check" clicked one and activate next one. Function doesnt work and I dont have a clue....
I'm trying to create a function that clicks a link when called. Its working in IE 7 but not in Firefox/Safari. here is the function:
Code: function open_greybox() { document.getElementById("grey_link").click(); }
The error console for firefox is telling me: Error: this.document.getElementById("grey_link").click is not a function Does firefox not support "click()"? Is there a workaround? A hidden link has to be clicked by javascript when the function is called (from a flash movie).
I found it difficult trying to put a short and concise title for you all to understand.My problem: Basically, I have an image (its a + sign), when clicked I need this + to change to a -. When clicked again, it needs to return to being a +.Below is the current code I am using:
<script type="text/javascript"> imgs=Array("positive.PNG","negative.PNG"); var x=0;[code]....
This code works fine if I just have one instance of it. But If I want multiple ones, one stops working and the other functions instead. I tried the following:
window.addEvent('domready',function(){ //SAMPLE 8 var handles8_more = $$('#handles8_more span'); var nS8 = new noobSlide({
[Code]....
All I need to do is when they hover ocer the div statement stop the program from looping. and then when they stop hovering over it let it start looping again.
I'm making a portfolio-style web and there is a Projects section in it. Each project has its own html and a button which links to a new html with a trailer. Now, the new html with a trailer is basically the same for all the projects. It has a flash player embedded in it which has a different project video in each frame.
I've created a function in the trailer html which reads like this:
function reklam1() { var flashMovie=getFlashMovieObject("player"); flashMovie.GotoFrame(1); }
I want to make sure that if I click on a link in the projects html it will open this new trailer html and activate the desired function which will push the flash player into a corresponding frame.
How do I have to make the link to be able to do that? Or is there any better way how to get the player to a desired frame on startup using javascript/html?
Event Listener. From what I understand it will check all events until a defined event happens, such as rollover of a certain image, and then it activates a function? What I want to do is use this so that when I rollover a element such as below: <img src="img url" alt="this is a tooltip" tooltip="true" /> I want it to pass the obj to a function which then runs, and then once the mouse of not over that element it will activate another function passing the previous object to this function.
Although an element such as the example below would not activate these functions: <img src="img url" alt="this is a tooltip"/> As the tooltip tag does not exist or has the value of false. Also, wouldn't this use a lot of resources as it checks every event which the mouse passes over?
I made a drop box menu and I want to activate specific javascript functions when they are selected. I think this should be fairly easy to solve. I am very new at HTML and Javascript btw. This is what I tried:
if (document.getElementById("selectense").value="present"){ document.getElementById("present").style.visibility="visible"; }
I'm looking for a little help with an on page pop-up activated by scrolling over a specified link.
Many sites use this type of display box to provide additional information about the link. It's not a pop-up in the sense that it opens a new window, the display box should open when scrolled over (no clicking required).....
How can I give a click on a link when it is just created and added to DOM?
None of this works: function openProfilePage(profile){ $('#profile-link').remove(); var link = $('<a/>').attr({'href':'profile.php?user='+profile, 'target':'_blank', 'id':'profile-link'}).css({'top':'-200px','left':'-300px', 'position':'absolute'}).html(profile);
