I made a drop box menu and I want to activate specific javascript functions when they are selected. I think this should be fairly easy to solve. I am very new at HTML and Javascript btw. This is what I tried:

Okay, I've been searching through here for a day, but haven't quite found what I need. I'm rebuilding my client's site to update the code and get it off of Yahoo's CMS.My rebuilt siteis nearly complete, except the navigation. I want to keep the function that each menu requires a click to open, not just a hover. Unfortunately, the rebuilt site's menu doesn't function and it'll require absolute links to work in the various root and sub folders.This is one suggestion I found in the archives here, expand5.htm, but it doesn't quite look like what I need.I have other sites that are for persons with disabilities that this could be useful for, so I need to be able to reproduce the results.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm making a portfolio-style web and there is a Projects section in it. Each project has its own html and a button which links to a new html with a trailer. Now, the new html with a trailer is basically the same for all the projects. It has a flash player embedded in it which has a different project video in each frame.
I've created a function in the trailer html which reads like this:

I want to make sure that if I click on a link in the projects html it will open this new trailer html and activate the desired function which will push the flash player into a corresponding frame.
How do I have to make the link to be able to do that? Or is there any better way how to get the player to a desired frame on startup using javascript/html?
I have these marketing campaigns running (like google adwords) and based on where a user comes from (google, yahoo, mns-bing, facebook) I have this referrer code passed that I collect out of the URL and I put a cookie on the user's computer based on what is included in this tag. OK so now I have to get the the cookie (which I know how to do) and based on if this cookie says website I need to show a drop down with sources for the user to choose from. That is my delimna. I typically code in PHP but this site wasn't developed by me so this cookie tracking was done in javascript. My issue is normally in PHP I can say if(referrer==website) then close off the php code and then go into the HTML but that doesn't seem to work for javascript.What I"m doing is retrieving the cooking and now all I want to do is say if the cookie is website show this drop down menu. The code that is currently on the site is attached.

I've kind of skimmed over how drop down menus work in JS(notably jquery).Also I read you put the submenu nested within it's parent link(<li>).This proves to be a problem though because my <div id="nav"> I have, is setup to display inline (horizontal) and obviously with a drop down you want that vertical..Do I have to separate the submenu from the <div id="nav">, or does the submenu have to be nested?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to accomplish something unique that I am not finding any examples for in web searches.I have a webpage with arrow pictures that I will set up with a clickable link that will send http arguments to a php script.I need to grab the selected value in one of the drop down menus on that same page and send that as one of the html arguments when clicking on one of the arrow buttons.
Right now those drop down lists are just html form controls, would this all work together better if they were instead javascript drop down menus? I really want to build this page the best way for it to be built and I'm not afraid to make changes if there is a better way than what I'm using now.

All I need to do is when they hover ocer the div statement stop the program from looping. and then when they stop hovering over it let it start looping again.
Event Listener. From what I understand it will check all events until a defined event happens, such as rollover of a certain image, and then it activates a function? What I want to do is use this so that when I rollover a element such as below:

I want it to pass the obj to a function which then runs, and then once the mouse of not over that element it will activate another function passing the previous object to this function.
Although an element such as the example below would not activate these functions:

As the tooltip tag does not exist or has the value of false. Also, wouldn't this use a lot of resources as it checks every event which the mouse passes over?

i'm having with a superfish menu i have tried to add to my wordpress site.The menu seems to work fine for the base-level (top parent pages) menu items.But the drop down menus seem to flash on screen for just a second and then disappear when the mouse hovers over the menu items.To see an example, please check out the top menu on this temporary development page: http:[url].....I have tried adjusting the z-index in superfish.css file but it doesn't seem to be having any effect.

I would like the headers to be able to have 'sub-headers' inside, which also drop-down,to reveal the links. I want them to have a different header colour, and to have the same rule where only one can be open at a time. while keeping the rule with the main headers.
How can I preserve my formatting when printing? I am restricted to IE6 at the moment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe purpose of the code is to slideToggle open one of two hidden sub-nav bars when either of two different menu items are clicked upon - instead of a drop down menu. What doesn't work is the hiding of the div that is not required, if it is already open. Viewing in firebug shows that the appropriate classes are being applied - I suspect the reason is that slideToggle has been somehow set and cannot be unset via another object - but perhaps that is not it at all?

I actually want to make a horizontal drop down menu with a sub menu.As far as I have researched, I think that it can be done by JavaScript. I have searched for some java scripts but they are very long and complex.
That made me wonder that for a funcitonality like a Drop down is so complex?

View 1 Replies View Related, I'd like to think this is fairly simple but unfortunately my knowldege of jquery is limited to using prebuilt scripts and changing a few variables to get what i need. I created a drop down menu with a slide down/up animation for submenus, which worked out just as I wanted. I ran into troubles though when trying to add a nested menu to the drop down, but with a slide animation going from left to right. I'm sure my explanation isn't very clear, so please take a look [URL] The nested submenu I am speaking of should only open when hovering occurs on the 'Item 01' link, but as you can see it also opens when hovering over the buyers link. Secondly, my attempt to slide from left to right on this ul is not working, it seems to be sliding down even though this was not defined in the code.

I'm currently redesigning my site, and I have a small quandary.[URL].. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same size monitor as me, therefore sometimes the drop-down menus get cut off. Is there a way with this script for it to auto-detect if it's going past the bottom edge, and when this happens it'll go upwards instead?
