Form Validation - Reference The Contents Of The Text Box In A Separate File?
Mar 4, 2011
so I have a html page with the following code included in it:
[Code]....
how would I reference the contents of the text box in a separate Javascript file? I have tried document.form.UserInfo.value and many, many variations and just can't get it to work. I presume it has something to do with the paragraph having the same name?

I have a text file that contains a whole bunch of data points neatly formatted (it's basically a CSV file). I need to create a quick JS function that would load the CSV file (from a URL) and display it with in a page. No parsing is needed! I just need to suck down the file and insert/display it within two div tags.

Suppose, Ia text file stored on the server. We all know that when a file stored on a server is opened for viewing, some bandwidth is consumned and the consumption increases with every refresh of the page and so on.
So if i use $.get on the client browserto reteieve the contents of the text file stored on the server, will it affect the server bandwidth consumption? I just want to make it clear that it is just a plain text file.
I'm looking forall posibilities as how to retrieve the contents of a text file stored on the server from the client browser without necesarily having to consumned any server bandwidth.

I am running some javascript code which generates a popup window associated with a spell checking program. The way the program works, is that it takes the text out of a text field (passed as an object), spell checks the string, then puts it back into the text area field.
My text area is located within a flash form, and I am having trouble pointing to it. I am sure my spell checking program is working, as it works fine if I point to an html text area. Do I have to do something special to point to a flash form object?
Here is my code:
<!--- Source the JavaScript spellChecker object --->
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="../Spellchecking/spellerpages-0.5.1/speller/spellChecker.js">
</script>

I'm using a form on a page as a vessel for data, rather than to actually submit it. The reason is that the form is submitted to a service at www.rdbhost.com with it's special JS API, so I extract the data from the form manually and then feed the data to the methods from the provided library.
One of the field is a file. Calling ``.val()`` on it simply gives me the file name, but I need the contents.I've looked around, and found a few plugins that would actually send the file, but that's not what I want.

On a client side HTML form, on hitting submit, I would like the data entered in the the form to be saved on the next available line within a .txt file.
For example, a basic HTML Form filled in as follows:
Name: Haze
Age: 400
Info: Hello World!
... on clicking 'Submit', the information would be saved to 'form.txt' on a new line, simply seperated by commas would be fine, example:
Haze, 400, Hello World!
If possible, the date and time the info was saved would really be great as well, example:
01/01/2010 9:41: Haze, 400, Hello World!
I might I cannot find anything on the internet for doing this client side.

I am quite new a web scripting and making web pages in general and I have stumbled across a problem I have as yet been unable to solve. I am trying to take the contents of a textarea box and save it to a file. This step is not to hard however the contents of the textarea is mostly latex source so it contains just about every special character you can imagine. My question is this, how do I save an exact copy of the textarea contents with special characters, carriage returns, etc to a file?

I have created my second Form to File Web Form but basically I took my First Web Form coding (with the Java Script) and manipulated it so that it suited my needs for my 2nd Form (both are very close to being the same).For some reason, I can't get my Java Script validation to take effect. I was wondering if some one could try to pin point why it isn't functioning properly? Again it could be the most obvious thing, but please bear with me as I learn.Just for a little more clarity, I am going to list the things that I have changed to possibly make it easier to pin point:[code]

I'm using the jQuery form validation plugin along with the fileinput plugin which hides the initial input area, but uses <divs> and some styling /javascript to show the file input field.The issue I am having, is that the 'this field is required' text that is meant to show on submission, doesn't come up for the file input field, nor some checkboxes that I have in a table. I am guessing that this is because the code is needing the label to be RIGHT next to the element (in this case the file input or the checkbox) in order for the validation message to show..Are there any work arounds that anyone knows of so that I can get the error message to show?Is there a way to show the error message for required fields when they have a div wrapping them or anything wrapping them?

What I have right now is when someone hits submit,text appears next to the textarea that says..Please enter an email..That all works fine,but what I would like to do is have the value that I have in the textfield,that has a text style applied from my style sheet(now grey) to turn red,maybe if I made another style inside the CSS file which would be for red text.
Would that be possible? to have one style in the css file,change to another with the javascript?
Here's the validation part of my javascript code

I'm guessing Javascript security shuts me down here, but just thought I'd post this on the off chance a guru here might know.I'm using ASP.NET AJAX's new AsyncFileUpload control. Functionality-wise it's awesome. Appearance-wise my product manager hates it. I'd like to hide it, and trigger its functionality from a button whose appearance I can fully customize.I tried doing this via calling its click() method, which opens the file selection dialog fine. However, once a file is selected, causing the form to be submitted, the infamous "htmlfile: Access is denied" error rears its head.

My drop down uses an <optgroup label> facility (6 optgroup categories, many values per category).This works fine (when the user chooses a category from the first drop down, a second drop down menu refreshes with the values for that category).HOWEVER, the above system requires me to have every VALUE in plain text on every page. This is no good. It is affecting how the search engines view my page (the text cache version).I want to store these values in a separate file so the search engines do not cache all the values as content on every page.
