JQuery :: Form Validation Error Messages Not Showing / When Using File Input Plugin
Aug 8, 2011
It works fine, but I'm trying to hide the error messages which it defaults to "This field is required." The error message shows up in a label.. How in the world do I hide those error messages within those labels?
I'm using this great plugin, but the prob for me is that all error messages have the same class added to them. due to the layout of my form, i need to be able to move some of the error messages around in diff ways. there is a way to add a diff error class to elements based on their id or class or whatever, but not sure how to do so.
I am trying to display validation error messages when form validation fails. Currently it does display the error messages but then disappears straight away. How can I stop the page from refreshing when validation fails? I have return false in my code when validation fails but still having same problem. Currently I have only done the validation for the full name only. The error msg is showed in:
I'm trying to write a custom display for the error messages on my form. Ideally I'd like to use a modal pop-up window to display the errors, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to prevent the validation plugin from automatically displaying the errors on my page AND I can't quite figure out how to access the individual error messages for the elements on my form. What I want to do is to allow users to save invalid forms, but to warn them that they are invalid to make them confirm that they want to save. [code]...
I'm a newby who has manage to get up and running rather quickly and with ease using the documentation. My form validates as expected but it shows the default error messages and highlights the invalid fields. How can I suppress the error messages?
I'm trying to change the default required field message in the validation plugin from "This field is required" to simply "Required". I tried to do so like this:
but this isn't working. I'd prefer not to edit the actual code to change the message, although that is an option (but one that would mean constantly updating the message when the validation code is downloaded once again).
I'm new to using jquery and I have a question regarding the validate plugin. How can I make the error messages appear where I want them? Right now they appear to the right of the input field but I'd like them to appear below it or wherever i'd like
I am using the Inline Form Validation Engine jQuery plugin found here [URL], and though I have posted at their forum as well, am having a heck of a time (not being well versed in js OR Ajax, unfortunately)
All I need to do is edit the code so that when the onSubmit function is processed, it returns only the first error it encounters, rather than keeping and display the array of every error. I have picked through the code several times, and can't seem to find where the array is stored. I thought perhaps I could find a for loop to limit, but am at a complete loss.
Calculate total registration fee Retrieve the value of the selected index property from guests selection lists Multiply the selected index by 30 and add this to the cost variable If the first member radio button is checked subtract 25 from the value of the cost variable Set the value of the total field equal to the value of the cost variable
I have a form where a user can upload a file. I do a check to see if it's a zip file. If it isn't then its supposed to stop the file from being uploaded. Only thing is, the file still uploads regardless of getting the error or not.
How can I prevent the form from submitting the file if the error pops up?[code]...
The jquery.validate.pack.js file found on [url] causes an error when run in IE6. I re-ran the packing process with the perl port of Dean Edwards' Packer found here [url] and the problem no longer persists.
Here is the command I ran on cygwin:
These are the safest settings I've found with jsPacker.pl. The packed file lost 2kb (.1kb gzipped) of savings, but it works now!
I'm getting a database error trying to access the validate plugin documentation. [URL] Error: A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was: (SQL query hidden) from within function "MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doquery". MySQL returned error "1205: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction (localhost)".
I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?
m relatively new to Jquery and have come accross these two plugins.Having looked at the ajax examples offered for the form plugin i wasintruiged to find out how i could go about validating the form usingthe formvalidate plugin during the beforeSubmit callback.Ive seen that you can validate the ajaxform as shown in the followingxample.malsup.com/jquery/form/#code-samplesHowever i'd like to use the formvalidate as it offers alot more....

I have a problem with the latest version of the jQuery Form Plugin (2.80). To be more precise, I guess I am doing something wrong, and with an older version (2.67) somehow it didn't matter. With the old version, the file was uploaded without problems. Now Firefox opens a new Tab on clicking the submit button and nothing is done. Chrome doesn't open a new tab, but also nothing happens. In Wireshark I can see that there is no file attached in the POST message with the older version, the file was sent.My first guess was that my file handling on the server side is erroneous - but on the other hand, when there is no file attached, what should I handle there?
