I've got this client that would like the menu to slide out from the left nav bar, horizontally. So far I've put together a jQuery toggle you can see working here:Slide out Menu.What I need is to fade out/slide back when another menu link is clicked. Right now they are overlapping and there are more menu items to come.

Both work on separate pages and puton the same page they still work however the submenu of the slide down menu does not. if I remove the style sheet that belongs to the gallery
Then the munu works, however (obviously) the page layout goes wrong. if i remove<h1 class="title">Alex Holland Perspective</h1> the menu works however page layout goes wrong andI loose my header

There are several sliders out there. But are there possibly a plugin or tut or an suggestion to how you could have a black bar on the bottom of the viewport with a menu on it and when clicking the menuitem it would slide up with content related to the menuitem..I would imagine the you could might tweek a existing slider with some z-index function?

The effect is working great, however, I want to retain the menu state (e.g. which section is open) when a user clicks a particular link and the site loads a new page. i want to use jquery to make a fade in/ fade out menu / sub menu structure. the structure works, the only this is that when i hover from the topic to the corrisponding submenu the submenu fades out and back in.how can i stop that? the function .stop() doesn't work, it will give me other problems, like if you hover from menu to sub menu over and over the opacity of the sub menu will get to 0 and then i need to reload the page.

I'll slideUp a div, load some ajax, then slideDown the result.In the result, there are two more divs (navigation and 'subcontent' containers)I have links in the navigation div that should fadeIn new content (via ajax) into the subcontent container.Now, the fadeIn fadeOut functions operate correctly _until_ I use a slide on the larger div. If I slide at all, everything turns into a slide, even within the subcontainers. I'm not sure what's going on.ere's an example structure for the divs:

So at the moment I'm working on an Ajax powered navigation that's animated with a horizontal slide and fade. So far I've imported the Effects Core and Effect "Slide" from the jQuery UI to get the horizontal slide effect in. Here's the documentation on the specific slide technique I'm using from the jQuery UI:[URL].. You can see the work I've done so far:[URL]... As you can see, the Ajax and horizontal slide features are working properly. However, one thing I can't get to work is the horizontal and fade effect to occur at the same time. I mistakenly tried to chain the show/hide functions with the fade function, but of course it happened sequentially instead of simultaneously.
I looked up for solutions online and most point to the animation function as the solution. In this case, I can't figure out a way to work with it because the animation function seems to manipulate the CSS to get the desired effects. While I could have animate change the width of the content area along with its opacity, the width resize would squeeze the text as the content area shrinks which is undesirable for my case. This is why I'm using the Effect "Slide" in the first place, to prevent the text getting squeezed as the content area slides.
So is there anyway I can get a simultaneous fade working at the same time with the Effect "Slide", or do I have to look for other methods of horizontal sliding to get it to work with fades?

(I've tested this in Opera, Safari and Chrome. It works in all. I also tested it using an IE tester [URL]. Only 8 and 6 versions work correctly.) I can see on the dynamic drive page the slide show works correctly.I've tried changing the "background='black'" in the .js in a variety of places to transparent and tried to put an image, a transparent .png, in place of the background. No success with either one.

It's for a navigation on my website. I want to have the sub-categories sliding down, if you click on a parent-category. I made it and there's no problem. But I want the sub-categories to slide away with a second click on the parent-category and I don't know how to do this.

Now, Ive implemented this slide out menu succesfully before, only now it seems that ive mistaken somewhere. The menu just pops out instead of sliding out like it should.

I'm putting together a 'form chooser' that slides a form (div) from behind the menu when clicking a link.That's all fine and good. But upon choosing another, the form simply disappears and the new one slides from behind the menu: What I would like to have happen is when you choose another form to appear, the last one slides behind the menu as/after the next one appears.

Anyway i'd like the big image to fade in when a thumbnail image is clicked and can't find any tutorials on how to do this. I have found ready made galleries using jquery but thought there might be something i could do with my existing html/css. I'm new to javascript and wonder if someone can point me in the right direction? Is this more complicated than it appears to be?

All fine and well, but what i want is that once i click a menu item, the previously clicked item should have the active state/class toggled off.. The menu is variable. (I tried and tried and searched all over the internet, but i cannot find it... spent 5 hours trying to combine various selectors and if/else statements, but it did'nt work.)

What doesn't work is the hiding of the div that is not required, if it is already open. Viewing in firebug shows that the appropriate classes are being applied - I suspect the reason is that slideToggle has been somehow set and cannot be unset via another object - but perhaps that is not it at all?
