JQuery :: Simultaneously Animating Slide From UI And Fade Out/In?
Sep 2, 2011
So at the moment I'm working on an Ajax powered navigation that's animated with a horizontal slide and fade. So far I've imported the Effects Core and Effect "Slide" from the jQuery UI to get the horizontal slide effect in. Here's the documentation on the specific slide technique I'm using from the jQuery UI:[URL].. You can see the work I've done so far:[URL]... As you can see, the Ajax and horizontal slide features are working properly. However, one thing I can't get to work is the horizontal and fade effect to occur at the same time. I mistakenly tried to chain the show/hide functions with the fade function, but of course it happened sequentially instead of simultaneously.
I looked up for solutions online and most point to the animation function as the solution. In this case, I can't figure out a way to work with it because the animation function seems to manipulate the CSS to get the desired effects. While I could have animate change the width of the content area along with its opacity, the width resize would squeeze the text as the content area shrinks which is undesirable for my case. This is why I'm using the Effect "Slide" in the first place, to prevent the text getting squeezed as the content area slides.
So is there anyway I can get a simultaneous fade working at the same time with the Effect "Slide", or do I have to look for other methods of horizontal sliding to get it to work with fades?
I'm using Lightbox picture displayer [URL].. and a content slide show UI [URL].. on the same pagesimultaneously. Although when I connect to the javascript files in my html page one of the effects won't work. Whichever javascript file I include last doesn't seem to work.
In the scenario below my content slide show effects won't work because they are listed first. It seems that whatever is listed last overrides everything else. I've also listed the error I get when running the page.
The code below works just great, ie when the page loads the div "box" fades in, then when you click on the div it slides nicely to the left. In addition to the above I want the div to move from left to right as it fades in. I've experimented with different code combinations but can't quite work it out.
I'll slideUp a div, load some ajax, then slideDown the result. In the result, there are two more divs (navigation and 'subcontent' containers)I have links in the navigation div that should fadeIn new content (via ajax) into the subcontent container. Now, the fadeIn fadeOut functions operate correctly _until_ I use a slide on the larger div. If I slide at all, everything turns into a slide, even within the subcontainers. I'm not sure what's going on.ere's an example structure for the divs:
<div id="globalnav">Anchors/Links for the maincontent div</div> <div id="maincontent">"maincontent" should slide open and closed. <div id="nav">Anchors/Links in here</div>
I am using Cycle and I am trying to get the first slide to fade in. I am new to all of this and I just can't get it to work. I looked at the 2 examples that Mike has on his page, but I just don't know what exactly to put where with regards to the code. I am setting up a portfolio with simple fade transitions between each example. I am utilizing both a prev and next option with the paging feature as well. If someone could be pretty specific as to what code needs to go where,
what I'm trying to do is, when a user hover overs an element, in this case, a li within a div, I want the background color to animate to a different color besides the background color of the body (in this case, black).
It works, but the behavior is erratic. For instance, yes, the color will change when I hover over the element but it when I'm within the div ul li, and hover over for instance the paragraph, the background color of the element will animate 2-3 times.
Actually when I move around any element within that UL the animation will flicker, how would I go about stopping that?
Also sometimes, not all the times, on pageLoad, the animation will fire.
Here's the code.

i have a slideshow at [URL] which utilizes the following code. how can i get rid of the fade effect and just have one image transition to the next cleanly with no fade animation?

I'm trying to create a slide show using the script here:[URL]Here's my page.[URL] The problem is in IE (I'm testing this in IE7) there is a small black rectangle that displays in the fade. (I've tested this in Opera, Safari and Chrome. It works in all. I also tested it using an IE tester [URL]. Only 8 and 6 versions work correctly.) I can see on the dynamic drive page the slide show works correctly.I've tried changing the "background='black'" in the .js in a variety of places to transparent and tried to put an image, a transparent .png, in place of the background. No success with either one.
I am creating a slide show in Javascript. So far it is running smoothly, however instead of the slides just switching to the next slide I want them to fade into the next slide. Is this possible in Javascript?
I've got this client that would like the menu to slide out from the left nav bar, horizontally. So far I've put together a jQuery toggle you can see working here:Slide out Menu. What I need is to fade out/slide back when another menu link is clicked. Right now they are overlapping and there are more menu items to come.
I'm having a little trouble with 2 differentJS scripts. I have a drop down slide menu and a parralex slide gallery. Both work on separate pages and puton the same page they still work however the submenu of the slide down menu does not. if I remove the style sheet that belongs to the gallery
Then the munu works, however (obviously) the page layout goes wrong. if i remove<h1 class="title">Alex Holland Perspective</h1> the menu works however page layout goes wrong andI loose my header
I developed a website with php. Using cms, users can upload an image and a textual description of this image.Using jquery, images change automatically. Now, i want that textual description changes with the imageIn my generated html code i have:
This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: [URL] My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language
This is the link to my site so far: [URL] You can see the script working as it is on my little yellow MW logo on the right side of the navigation. So in my scenario, I am looking to fade button.png to button-hover.png (both repeating on the x axis).
I'm making a form with some fields. Once the form is submitted it updates the page with a new div containing the data entered without refreshing. Im using jquery form plugin. What I'd like to achieve is the new div(.record) to .slideDown. I guess I need to somehow specify the exact div by giving it an id or number. I'm not sure and why im here.
At the moment when i submit all of the divs(.record) are hidden with .hide, then they all slide down with .slide. Best i can understand is to hide the last div then slide down. But again.. I don't know how to specify to only slide down the last div added and not the current .record divs on the page.
I have a gallery style page with rectangular images on laid out like a grid of nine. When the user looks at the page there is just the images and no information, but when they hover over the image I would like some text and a bar underneath to show up over the top so the user can read some information.my images sit in "a" tags. There is also a div tag in there which has it's z-index and position (absolute) set up so that it sits over the top of the image element in the "a" tag. stripped down e.g.
<a href="#"><img.... /><div>the info</div></a>
I need the div tag withinin the "a" tag to be set to 0 opacity. When the user hovers over the image the div tag slowly fades in to 100% opacity. Once the user moves the mouse away from the image the div tag slowly disappears again.I need each one to work independently so that it only changes the one currently being hovered over.
I'm having problems with my text appearing aliased and turning blue when it fades in and out. I've tried using the Newsticker plugin and the Easyticker plugin, and I'm getting the same result in IE7 and Firefox 3.6. I'm using jQuery 1.2.6-min Specifying a background color doesn't fix it. The examples on the plugin websites look fine, but when I try and implement the effect myself, my orange text becomes aliased and fades to a light blue color before dipping to white. Same thing happens on the fade in. attached is a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
I'm using jQuery cycle plugin right now, and I want to add a new slide based on the newly created image and I want to replace this slide later if the user has updated the image. I read the document of jQuery cycle, and I found it's using onBefore callback to do the job, but it's not on the fly, how could I do it on the fly?
This is probably a basic question as I am a beginner with Javascript/JQuery. Here is my code for the head and body elements, what am I doing wrong as nothing is happening. Is it my element id? I just want the whole dive to fade when the page opens and to fade in over mouse over. Here is the code:
I'm trying to get multiple scripts to run simultaneously. As of now, my hover drop-down menu is not working on the "Teams" page, but all other scripts work. I have 3 other scripts running on the Teams page, and was wondering how I could get the menu to work as well (seeing how it's pretty important). Code:
I am very new to using jquery (and any javascript at all really) and I am having a dillema. I am trying to have several expandable sections of my webpage but I only want one to be opened at a time so I want to use slideUp and slideDown rather than slideToggle.
I want to use the same button to open and close the section. How do I do this? Here is my current jquery code, as of right now when I click expandButton1 the itemContent1 section closes and then reopens immediately:
If I don't use style="display:none" inside the divs, I see them both initially and I can hide/show each one depending on which link I press. But the thing is that I need both divs to be hidden in the first place, and when I click on ONE, to show TWO, when I click on TWO to hide ONE and show TWO etc. Each time 1 div should be visible, depending on which link we press. The other must disappear.
1. I have this list of 3 products/items that is created and displayed automatically through a for-loop. By changing the number in this loop, I can either add or subtract items of this list. More and more items are supposed to be added to list on a regular basis.
2. For each item, a number of customer-comments should be displayed and looped. I accomplish this using Arrays, where I can easily add new comments for each individual item to the loop.
3. Each item may have a different number of comments.
My goal is to have a system that effeciently allows me to add new comments at a minimum effort from my part. The comments loops fine, as long as I only choose to loop them for one item at the time. As soon as I try loop comments for two or more items at once, trouble ensue.
Below is my code:
Code:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"><!-- //SBC verdicts verds_sbc = new Array(new Array("Great Game!","Good game!","I love this!"),new Array("AVGN","CurlysWorldof SOftware","ANGRY JOE"),new Array("www.cinemassacre.com","www.curlyswordsofsoftware.com","www.angryjoe.com"));
I recently got very interested in jQuery and found my way into it but I'm now facing this problem where I can't animate the position of a background image in IE. I've tested it in Google Chrome, FireFox, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer. It works in the first 4 browsers but not in IE and that is a pretty big problem since a lot of people are (still ) using IE, I think.
Here is the animation:
As I mentioned, it works in every major browser except for Internet Explorer.
