Displaying A Page At A Specified Position
Nov 7, 2006
i have a form about half way down a web page, which posts criteria for the
WHERE part of an sql which then returns the results at the bottom of the
page.
Trouble is when the page reloads it goes to the top of the page again so the
results are not visible and the user is sometimes unaware that anything has
happened.
I could get a message to display at the top to tell user to scroll to
bottom but i would prefer the page to display at the start of the records(in
a html table) . does anyone know how to do this?

I would the user of my website to click a link on a page and for some information to display on the page without a reload of the page. This is what I would like to happen in my specific case:The user clicks the name of the cd and the full track list and a small image displays above it, without going to a new page.

I am not getting the tinymce edit textarea in an html page that is generated by ajax. I am calling the ajax using jquery. I have kept the tiny_mce.js file on the page that is generated via ajax. The path is correct but am not getting the page displayed. There is no problem for the source hence i am getting the tinymce editor without using ajax.

What I want to do is have a page that only displays if javascript is enabled(or similar) in the sense that it tells users that js is not enabled and how to enable, what were doing is creating web forms and would only like them viewable if js is enabled so that we can validate client side and reduce server load. Main reason is validation client side, cause if the initial form works well we will expand it to include forms for every type of job we can. No idea to where to start as js is not a strong point.

If I want to know the width of the screen that is displaying the page I can use the following JavaScript code:
Code:
// Find out the page width in pixels
if (document.layers) {
width = window.innerWidth;
}
[Code]....
Is there any similar code for determining the width of the printer page?

My group is working on a basic document management system that includes four users. staff member, department director, division chief and clerk. The programming language that we used is PHP.when staff member logs-in on his homepage and uploads a file he must choose reviewer from a dropdown menu that consists of dep. director and div. chief.When he clicks the upload button the homepage of who he chose as reviewer should receive a prompt/alert box upon log-in saying "you have a document to review".For example:if he chose division chief as the reviewer when the person logs-in on his homepage a prompt/alert should display that he has something to review.The code for uploading file is already up and working.

The content of my webpage is all contained in hidden divs. These divs are shown when a link in the nav bar is clicked. At the moment, ALL divs are hidden on page load, only the nav bar is visible. Is there a way to have one of the divs visable when the page loads? i.e the 'home' page.
function init(){
if(document.getElementById && document.createTextNode){
var mn=document.getElementById('nav');
var as=mn.getElementsByTagName('a');
for (var i=0;i<as.length;i++){
as[i]. false}
as[i]. false}
}
hidem();
}}
function show(l){
hidem();
var id=l.href.match(/#(w.+)/)[1];
document.getElementById(id).style.display='block'
}
function hidem(){
for (var i=0;i<document.getElementsByTagName('div').length;i++){
document.getElementsByTagName('div')[i].style.display='none'
}}
The function init() is called on page load.

I'm reading a book on Javascript and I've been doing their tutorial on getting and setting cookies. Trouble is my code, and their supplied sample, don't work. It is supposed to display a very simple page with an image. When you click the image it is supposed to open up a new (very simple) page.
Code follows...
<html><head>
<title>main page</title>
<script language=JavaScript>
var lastUpdated = new Date("Tue, 28 Dec 2010");
function getCookieValue(cookieName){
var cookieValue = document.cookie;
var cookieStartsAt = cookieValue.indexOf(" " + cookieName + "=");
if (cookieStartsAt == -1) {
cookieStartsAt = cookieValue.indexOf(cookieName + "=");
} if (cookieStartsAt == -1) {
cookieValue = null; .....

I have Win 7, IE9. I have a HTML file on my hard drive, with Javascript within. When I load the page, it keeps popping up Do u want to allow this content, I have to click to allow. I want to stop this, and after doing some searching I found the setting in Internet Options, Advanced - "Allow active content to run in files on my computer".
Perfect.
Doesnt work. When i check this box, the page loads without the warning, but then the Javascript just doesnt work. Getting quite annoying, because this file is my home page.

I'm having two Ajax-related problems on a page I am working on at the moment. [url] On this page, I have two buttons that use Ajax to fetch two separate forms and put them into a chosen div; that part works like a charm.
On said forms, there is a div that is meant to display any necessary error messages when the submit button is clicked. However, on the first time the page is visited and the form is chosen, the div won't display the error message. Only after refreshing the page/choosing the form a second time will the message show. I've been checking the response from the server via Firebug and the response is correct, it just seems like the page isn't updating correctly.
Secondly, once I refresh or choose the form again and the error message begins to show, if I enter values into the form fields and should be getting a different error message, it never updates. Once again, the server response is correct, but for some reason the page just isn't updating to reflect the new message.
I have been using the date field on the New Event form for testing; if you have Firebug, you should be able to see that I am getting the desired response from the server (look in the allErr div), but the HTML isn't changing with it. I have tried both using my own Ajax functions and using jQuery's Ajax implementation, but both give me the same problems.

I have just got my web site to the point where I am about to upload
it, but I have come across a problem which I do not know what to look
for on the web. I will try to describe the problem the best I can. I
have a page with pictures in a table of 3 X 10 all pictures are
thumbnails 100 X 90 all is just fine, but I have a link to pages from
the thumbnails but when I return to the thumbnails I start back at the
top of the thumbnails page. I have been told that this can be done
with JavaScript but I do not know what to look you on the web, I have
tried to look for something [Remember page position, Page history] but
with no luck I have not done any JavaScript before and do not know
where to start, so any help would be great.

Every time i load my page, it loads to the halfway Y position down the page. I want to page to always load top every time it is refreshed or referenced to. You can see the problem here. Try and go to [URL] and click on any of the menu nav links. the page will load, but just halfway down the page. I tried both the
$(document).load().scrollTop(0);
and
$(document).ready(function(){
$(this).scrollTop(0);
});
JS codes in the linked .js file. How can I fix this?

I want to determine the position of each link on a page. I need to know the browser window size, or at least screen resolution. I also need a position in pixels for each link. For example while browsing this page my screen resolution is 1680*1050 and the Blogs link in the menu is positioned at say (100, 120).Is there any consistent way to find this out in the major browsers?Note that the links are just plain links, they don't have the position attribute set in css or anything.I'm thinking about building a script that tracks user click behaviour and it would be tremendously helpful if I didn't need to input say "link Blogs is positioned in area N" to the tracking system.
