Page Displaying Based On If JS Enabled

Jul 24, 2010

What I want to do is have a page that only displays if javascript is enabled(or similar) in the sense that it tells users that js is not enabled and how to enable, what were doing is creating web forms and would only like them viewable if js is enabled so that we can validate client side and reduce server load. Main reason is validation client side, cause if the initial form works well we will expand it to include forms for every type of job we can. No idea to where to start as js is not a strong point.

JQuery :: Tablesorter Is Not Enabled On Page?

May 27, 2009

I am trying out the Tablesorter in Wordpress 2.7.1 to make a membership list sortable. For some reason the sortable features isn't being enabled (or at least visible). Here are the steps I've taken so far: 1) In the header.php file I added the following code between the head
tags:

<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="library/scripts/jquery-
latest.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="library/scripts/
jquery.tablesorter.js"></script>

[Code].....

But, while the table shows up on the page, the sortable features are not visible. NOTE: In Wordpress I have the WP-Table Reloaded plugin activated, but to trouble shoot this issue, I am not using the shortcode and using a HTML table directly in the page, for now.

Prevent Page From Loading If Java Is Not Enabled?

May 27, 2009

Is there any method which blocks the website from loading, if the browser using is not java script enabled? I have a webpage with some details to be entered. This website is designed in such a way that it checks the exceptions in the entry and alerts the user regarding it which is done using javascript. but for some users this feature is not working. I guess its the problem with the browser they use. So how can I alert them to enable Java by adding something to the script? Is there any way which prevents the page from loading if java is not enabled in the browser?

Displaying Content Based Upon Internet Connectivity

Aug 13, 2010

I have a site that can be downloaded and run on a closed network (not needing an active Internet connection). I'd like a page that displays live data to a user with Internet connectivity (I can do this) but display "canned" data when the user is without an internet connection...and this difference in page display is transparent to the user. I know this can be done with php but the user without Internet connectivity will likely not be able to run php locally so the page must be an .htm file. I there a javascript somewhere that does this?

Displaying DIV Based On Checked Radio Button

Mar 11, 2010

I have a page where I need to display 1 of 5 divs, based on the radio button that's selected. The code I'm using is from a previous page that basically did the same thing, only the user had to click on a tab, which would in turn change the style on the div from "display: none" to "". I'm assuming I can basically use the same code, but I'm not sure how to do this with radio buttons. The page I'm working with is at [URL].

Here is the code:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "[URL]">

Hiding And Displaying Forms Based On Selection

Dec 30, 2010

I am trying to display three different types of forms of the same page. One of the three will appear based on the selection. Right now my code has everything shown when you first reload the page and then when you select something it all disappears and nothing comes back. I am trying to use divs because the forms will perform the same action just with different parameters. It is a lot of code but the forms are the same thing just wrapped in a different div and I know they work. hopefully this will cut down on the amount of time you have to look at it.

Below is what I have so far:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function choose()
{
document.getElementById('notes').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('tests').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('homework').style.display = 'none'; .....

Displaying Content Based On Visitor Behavior Using Web Service

Aug 28, 2009

I'm using javascript in addition to a web service (BTBuckets) to display different content to visitors based on actions they take on my site. The javascript is working fine, but I noticed that if I simulate BTBuckets being disabled using Firefox Adblock none of the content shows up. So in the off chance of the service going offline it'll leave some pretty funky holes in the my content. I tried <noscript> tags which works with javascript off, but the content is still blank when I disable BTBuckets. I'm wondering if there's a way to display the default content if the service is unavailable?

Here's the code I'm using:
In the head:
<script type="text/javascript">
//<![CDATA[[
$BTB={s:XXXXX};
$BTB.jsh="[URL]";
//]]>
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + $BTB.jsh.replace(/(https?:)/i,document.location.protocol) + "' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>

The code in the body used to replace an image depending on visitor behavior:
<script type="text/javascript">
var _t = "";
if ($BTB.clusters["ppc_visitors"]) {
_t = ""images/top-photo-tracking-number.jpg" alt="Call Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX">";
} else {
_t = ""images/top-photo.jpg" alt="Call Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX">";
}
document.write('<img src= ' + _t );
</script>
<noscript><img src="images/top-photo.jpg" alt="Call
Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX"></noscript>

Displaying A Page At A Specified Position

Trouble is when the page reloads it goes to the top of the page again so the
results are not visible and the user is sometimes unaware that anything has
happened.

I could get a message to display at the top to tell user to scroll to
bottom but i would prefer the page to display at the start of the records(in

function init(){
if(document.getElementById && document.createTextNode){
var mn=document.getElementById('nav');
var as=mn.getElementsByTagName('a');
for (var i=0;i<as.length;i++){

function show(l){

var id=l.href.match(/#(w.+)/)[1];
document.getElementById(id).style.display='block'
}

function hidem(){
for (var i=0;i<document.getElementsByTagName('div').length;i++){
document.getElementsByTagName('div')[i].style.display='none'
}}

The function init() is called on page load.

Server Response Correct - Viewed In Firebug - Not Displaying On Page

Mar 12, 2010

I'm having two Ajax-related problems on a page I am working on at the moment. [url] On this page, I have two buttons that use Ajax to fetch two separate forms and put them into a chosen div; that part works like a charm.

On said forms, there is a div that is meant to display any necessary error messages when the submit button is clicked. However, on the first time the page is visited and the form is chosen, the div won't display the error message. Only after refreshing the page/choosing the form a second time will the message show. I've been checking the response from the server via Firebug and the response is correct, it just seems like the page isn't updating correctly.

Secondly, once I refresh or choose the form again and the error message begins to show, if I enter values into the form fields and should be getting a different error message, it never updates. Once again, the server response is correct, but for some reason the page just isn't updating to reflect the new message.

I have been using the date field on the New Event form for testing; if you have Firebug, you should be able to see that I am getting the desired response from the server (look in the allErr div), but the HTML isn't changing with it. I have tried both using my own Ajax functions and using jQuery's Ajax implementation, but both give me the same problems.

Detect If An Add-on Is Enabled (firefox)

(No other add-ons have this mime type.)However, there is a problem, if someone disables the add-on, the there is no mime type handler in navigator.mimeTypes['the/MimeType'].Is there some way to detect if an add-on is installed, and also if the add-on is enabled?

I am using the script below to determine if cookies are on, but it looks like it only works if the settings are "Accept all cookies" or "Low". The default is "Medium" and the script fails at that setting or above. Do I have to require that the setting be higher than medium to use this code?

document.cookie = "TemporaryTestCookie=yes;";
if(document.cookie.indexOf("TemporaryTestCookie=") == -1) {
alert("Cookies are required to use this web site!
Please click the link at the bottom of the page
