A UI built using HTML and CSS has limited screen space. One of the elements is a div tag (<div id="mtext">) that will contain text of variable length. If the text is > 500 characters, I am displaying it as a link. When the user clicks the link, I want the text to be displayed in a layer above all the rest of the elements in the page. How can this be done using javascript..
Code:
A div element that contains some text of variable length. If the length exceeds say 500 characters, Display it as truncated text. ( like "Example text...") The entire truncated text becomes a link When the user clicks the link the content in the div element "pops out" to fill the screen above other elements on the page Image showing truncated text... (before clicking) Image showing text display after clicking the text...
What is stopping my code from displaying the time, date, and greeting from my stored variables?[code]...
I also tried placing paragraph tags, "", and '' ,respectively, inside the parenthesis as well as using '+variable+' instead of " . variable . "
The word "blah" was used to make sure the marquee tag was supported by browsers I have used to test this. So far I have only run into trouble with my document.write(stuff) not being displayed.
$displaytext = "display this text";
$(".image").mouseenter(function(){
$(".test").text("$displaytext");
});
I would like to display the text in the variable $displaytext in my div.test when I mouse over the .image div. But instead, it just displays "$displaytext". Anyone know how I could make this work?
I'm trying to use JavaScript to make a story out of randomly selected words from 4 arrays and then insert it into a textarea. It isn't working, can someone please tell me how to fix it.... there's an error somewhere I can't find.

I want to know if there is a way to return ajax call as html value and not plain text, ie all html formatting will be displayed.
My code:

String returned from webform4.aspx is html formatted but jquery displayed it as plain text. Is that anyway to display it as html string ?
Via ajax, data equals <h1>Special</h1>
Code JavaScript:
function searchReplaceAndDisplay(data) {
data.replace('<','<');
data.replace('>','>');
$('#modal').append(data);
}
$.get('getSpecialsHtml.aspx', searchReplaceAndDisplay);
Right now #modal displays <h1>Special</h1>, as plain text.
How can I get #modal to display 'Special' marked up as an h1 element instead of text?
I have some jquery code like this:

My aplication starts with a simple login window (login_page.aspx). Once
the login/password is validated I redirect to an html which contains 3 frames.
(mywebsite.html)
The web site I am working on has 3 frames: left frame is for the
menu, top frame is where the user enter the search criteria and main
frame is where the results are displayed.
I want to display the login screen as soon as the Session Timeout
expires, so I realized I should redirect to the login page when the session
ends. (Global.asax in VB . Net, I Included code in session_end function)
The problem I am having is that the login window is open in the last
frame used, and I want to delete the frames. I mean I want to display the login page
in a normal document without frames in the same active web browser screen.
I am having serious problems over a JavaScript function. I have 2 x 2 dimensional arrays of data to display on the screen, each array being 18 x 18. The arrays and displaying them is working fine, I have 2 lots of X and Y variable (LocX1, LocY1, LocX2 and LocY2) which I use to reference the cells of the arrays.
I have 2 similar (but not identical) functions to move around these arrays using links on the screen.
[Code]...
As you can see, I have tried multiplying the variable by 1, adding zero and using the Number command. All other directions work fine and all links are identical, just passing a different 'direction' through an onClick.
P.s. I miss placed this post before, and it was sugested I re-check the links that set the functions off. They are all identical (all 8), except for the 'north' 'south' etc. bit.
I have a menu (structured in the old fashion UL/LI fashion) that is being controlled by jquery. Initial item selection operates as advertised. But when a "user" selects another menu item, the screen (div) does not reinitalize and react to the click of the new item.Here is my online site that I am working on.In my menu, only the Chemical and Small Arms items are programmed. Here is the code that is controlling say "Bullet" (under Small Arms).
$('#bullet').click(function() {
$('#searchResults').jqGrid({

We are conducting a ceremony in an Auditorium where 336 People are gathered and afterwards we want to choose 20 of them randomly. We want to display the whole act of choosing them via projectors on the auditorium screen with a little animation. Basically the concept of the animation goes like this:
HTML Code:[URL].. but we are stuck on the code as none of us knows programming that much: we want the chairs to be GRAY and the one that miss the opportunity (randomly) to turn RED (this much we have done) and the last chair (winner) to REMAIN GRAY (this is where we are stuck)r. PS. can anybody help us with this by tomorrow 10:00 AM GMT?
i want to do effect (overlib) like this [URL]
but i want to display image in center of screen not on right bottom corner.
can someone explain how i can use an ondblclick event to cancel an onmousemove event? would I use cancelBubble for this? i have a statement in my header
document.onmousemove = updateMouseCoordinates; that moves a sentence of text around the screen. when i try to call a function using ondblclick event in the <p> tag, it fails to call function. without statement above, the function is called.... my purpose is to just cancel the onmousemove in event user performs a double click.
I'm building some forms, and when they are submitted, I'd like to integrate a method that will fade out the screen a bit, and show an animated "processing" .gif. Basically when the "submit" button is pressed, the form is being submitted to it's destination. The page will hang on the form until the next page is ready to load. While it's hanging there after submitting, I'd like the screen to fade out, and display an image in the center of the screen. I'm hoping this can be achieved with CSS, as I try to use as little Javascript as possible.What's the best way to achieve this? I figure if anything a javascript "onsubmit" function will be a good start. Can the screen be faded with CSS?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a string that contains n items. Each item start with a '@' and the
item itself does not contains the '@a'.
For example the string looks like: "@one@two@three@four"
I have to output this string as "one, two, three and four".
So in fact the first '@' can be removed, the next except the last replaces
by ", " and the last one by the word "and ".
Is there a simple way doing this?
I have a problem with innerHTML. If I wrote

How do I print / display above string as it as.
I have a form with several different text boxes for things like dates,
numbers, etc. arranged in a table, each row has the same kind of text
boxes for data entry (10 rows probably).
I want to have a separate section above the form where I can toggle a
div containing an appropriate error message to appear after the
onchange event fires for the text box.
The thing is, I want all the divs with their different text messages to
appear in the same place and disappear from the same place above the
form instead of different places on the form or web page.
Well, they don't have to be multiple divs, but there are multiple
different error messages that should appear depending where the user is
typing...
Example: 'wrong format,' 'month must be between 1 and 12,' etc. Of
course the messages will be nicer than this.
Iam using alert box to display the total payment modes.But in Alert it displaying only 62 out of 110.

Currently if the user presses enter it shows in the test area as a new line however in the string it is only a space. How can I get the string to recognise and display the enter as a new line.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBy luck I had somehow found a way to collect data with a form, perform
calculations with JavaScript and display the form and calculated
results on the same screen.
Now I can't figure out how to do that again. The only methods of
reporting the calculation results seem to display a completely new
screen/window.
I just want to collect some numeric input data with slider widgets or
text boxes for an alternate method and display additional calculated
results 'real time' as the slider is adjusted. If this can't be done,
after a text box entry is made. Ideally the results would display
without a 'submit' button click.
If I have a div that's 300px by 20px, is there a function that calculates whether a string will display with a line break, given font-size of 21px? If not, I'll have to create some code, but if it's already available, that's even better

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 monitors from a different size. It is important in my application that I get the screen size of the monitor where the webbrowser is located. When I try to get the screen size (window.screen.height + window.screen.width) only IE gives me always the screen size of the main monitor where my taskbar (windows7) is located, instead of the screen size of the secondary screen where the webbrowser is located.
