Jul 8, 2010
To give you a little background about myself, I am a complete JavaScript novice. I am used to SQL scripting a little. We have recently moved to a web IT Service tool, we have taken on the programming of this tool and it is mostly using JavaScript. Within my tool I am trying to create a field to display the financial Period Number, based on the open date of a task using a 4 weekly rotation. Therefore what I am trying to code is;

Im using a jQuery script to show/hide a div based based on the selection made via a dropdown.
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
The problem im having is that the value used in the dropdown lists are price values eg 10.00
Consequently jQuery seems to interprit these as css notations, meaning the code doesnt work.

I'm just learning javascript and am editing a calculator form that will calculate square footage and write to a form text field. I have another form filed that I would like to display a number based a series of if else statements. ex: if square footage > 2761 then display 5.0., if square footage > 2521 then display 4.5. etc.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "<HTML>
<HEAD><TITLE>Size Calculator</TITLE>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
function CalculateSum(Atext, Btext, form){
var A = parseFloat(Atext);
var B = parseFloat(Btext);
form.Footage.value = A * B;
form.Size.value = 21;
}
/* ClearForm: this function has 1 argument: form.
It clears the input and answer fields on the form.
It needs to know the names of the INPUT elements in order to do this. */
function ClearForm(form){
form.input_A.value = "";
form.input_B.value = "";
form.Footage.value = "";
form.Size.value = "";
}
// end of JavaScript functions -->
</SCRIPT></HEAD><BODY>
<P><FONT SIZE="+2">Sizing Calculator</FONT></P>
<FORM NAME="Calculator" METHOD="post">
<P>House width (ft): <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="input_A" SIZE=10></P>
<P>House length (ft): <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="input_B" SIZE=10></P>
<P><INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="Calculate" name="Calculate" onClick="CalculateSum(this.form.input_A.value, this.form.input_B.value, this.form)"></P>
<P><INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="Clear Fields" name="ClearButton" onClick="ClearForm(this.form)"></P>
<P>Square footage = <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="Footage" SIZE=12></P>
<P>Size = <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="Size" SIZE=12></P>

I have a drop down menu where people can select a month, day and year. Based on their selection, I want to show them an image.
If their selection is >= July 26, 2010 but <= July 25, 2011, show the red image;
If their selection is >= July 26, 2011 but <= July 25, 2012, show the white image;
If their selection is >= July 26, 2012 but <= July 25, 2013, show the blue image;
If their selection is >= July 26, 2013 but <= July 25, 2014, show the yellow image;
I don't know how to compare a selected date to a range of dates like this.

I am delving into the coding world and while I understand the basic principle of cookies, conditional statements, arrays, etc...I have looked around the web and this forum with little success. If the situation below is too complicated, I would really appreciate even a shove in the right direction regarding the logic.How could I show a preset counter which counts up from a preset, beginning number toward a preset, end number? I imagine the increment and speed is set be the difference between the two numbers and a timeframe.
:confused: Assumptions:I would rather not set the increment but edit the end number to show a steady increase. As I update that number, the increment adapts dynamically. I would want the number/script to be useful, so it should not refresh to the beginning number on each page load (i.e. num=0). When a visitor comes to the page, it must seem like the counter has been steadily been increasing in their absence.Coke or Pesi did something similar one time regarding cans sold to date (doubt it was plugged into a DB somewhere but rather based on a steady sales figure) and it was pretty cool.

I have a form on a web page, with one field to enter a code, to search for a property.On clicking 'submit' I want to be able to run a script asynchronously in the background.The script will need to run a MYSQL statement which will have one of these results:
1. The property code does not exist, so display a Javascript Alert saying it does not exist.
2. The property is for sale, so call an existing javscript function 'saleSubmit(propertyCode)' to overwrite the exsiting web page with a new page sale.php for that property code
3. The property is for rent, so call an existing javscript function 'rentSubmit(propertyCode)' to overwrite the exsiting web page with a new page rent.php for that property code
My slills are in PHP and MySQL and I have no knowledge of tools like Ajax, jQuery and I am currently having problems getting my head around it. I have spent ages visiting lots of websites looking for examples on how to do this with little success.

Here's the deal...I have a form in my Coldfusion page that is a financial calculator (you type in the amount of the goods and the interest and it computes your monthly payments. It drops the numbers into the input fields in the form). This form uses javascript to do the calculations. So here is the problem.
I have three columns on my site. The left column has a couple of short forms that use the "CFFORM" tag. It seems that when i have the CFFORM tag in the page for whatever the reason the form can't do that math anymore. When I remove the CFFORM from the page it works fine.
What is the work around for this and why is there even a conflict between the two? I am closing all of my tags form tags.
I also use ColdFusion includes in the page, are they going to cause problems with the script too?

I'm having two issues: First, is there an easier way for my showValue function to display the image file name without running a bunch of if statements? I tried doing something like document.getElementById('imgFile').value = imgArray[n]; but that did not seem to work.
Second, I'm trying to have the image file name change in my textbox when I click any button. I've accomplished this with onblur, but that only works if I click on the textbox. I'd like it to just change automatically.

I am working on a calculator page for a clients site. I am using dreamweaver and form calculator made by Kaosr as behavior / plugins in dreamweaver. The way I have it set up is first the user enters some numbers in boxes, clicks a get refund now button and a div element appears with the answer. The whole calculator works..but I cant get the answer to appear in currency format. I've found tons of applets for javascript that change it into currency format upon clicking a button or clicking elsewhere on the page.. but none that automatically will make a text box display currency when the answer appears..

I am working on an HTML project that displays a field with a number in the field by each day. What it does is start at 0 on day one. Each day it adds a 1 to the field. Day 2, the field would say 1, then day 3 would say 2, and so on. I am not sure how to approach this. This is also displayed in an HTML format. I want to to be automatic and change as the date changesI will also need a way to reset it back to zero if possible.

how to approach this but I have a date input that uses a jQuery pop-up for a calendar, and enters the date in a format d MMM yy (1 Jan 11).
Not everyone wants to be clicking and choosing the date from the calendar but to be entering it just as a number such as 0101, 010111 or 01012011 which can be faster. This would then need to be converted to the d MMM yy format as per the jQuery pop-up when they exit the input box.
So really only if it's a number format it needs to look at the number of digits... and does the conversion.
Has anyone done something like this before? Or is there a link to how I could go about achieving this?

For a project that would be too hard to explain, I am working with date ranges. There is a begin date and an end date. With those two variables, I need a function to calculate the number of months between both dates. To be more precise, I need a count of all unique month names in the dates (or month numbers if that is easier) where the range includes the beginning date, the end date, and all dates in between. So I am not looking for full months or an approximation. If only, say, one day of a given month is included in the date range, that adds a month. Also the range can span several years, january 2010 and january 2011 need to count for two different months.

What I'm looking to do is be able to load a number of pages in advance for a daily blog, and then have index.html automatically pick the right page based on today's date. I guess I'll name the files something like '20090708.html', '20090709.html' etc.As well as selecting the right page to display (happy to use frames for that if there's no other way), I want to include "previous post" and "next post" buttons at the top of each page. Happy to hardcode what they point to, but I'd like a function whereby the "next post" button is not displayed if the user is on "today's" page.

I have an HTML form which contains two date fields to accept airport taxi bookings, sometimes clients book one way, sometimes they book return journeys, some cases even involve 3 or more journeys.
Now there is a field for the date of each journey all contained within one HTML form:
date0, date1, date2 etc... depending on how many legs there are to their journey.
What I'd like to do is set an initial value for all date fields based on the value the user enters into the first.
So if the user enters: 24/04/2009 into [date0] field then [date1] should be automatically set to be 7 days later and [date2] 7 days after [date1] etc.
The user must be able to overwrite the initial values, without affecting the previous dates.
Code:
<form name="form1" method="get" action="booking-function.asp">
<%'ASP Loop Condition for number of date fields to display%>
<input name="date<%=(x-1)%>" type="text" maxlength="10" />
<%'End ASP loop%>

I've been trying to figure this script out for awhile and I've hit a wall. Basically, what I want to do for my organization's website is to use JS to display an image containing our hours and have it change each day of the week.
The hard part (for me) is that there are certain days we're closed. Ideally, I'd like a separate "We're Closed" message to overwrite the image carrying our hours on specific days (major holidays like Xmas, New Years, Vet's Day, furlough periods, etc. etc.).
Here's the code I've managed to cobble together (I have a real basic understanding of JS, so I've been pulling scripts from sites offering free copy/pastecode):
[Code]...
For the most part, this code works just fine. However, if I jump my system clock to December 24, the "closure.png" comes up appears ALONGSIDE the hours image for that day of the week. In other words, I've got two images appearing right next to each other - that's not what I want.
How can I work the code in such a way that when a closure date comes up (in this case, 12/24), just the "closure.png" image shows up by itself?

I have mulitiple 'a' tags with different classes (aclass1, aclass2, aclass(n)) and I have multiple divs, also with consecutive classes (divclass1, divclass2, divclass(n)). Is there a way to select the 'a' tags to match the div based on its number (ie. 'aclass1' with 'divclass1' and aclass2 with divclass2)? For example something like this:
$(document).ready(function() { $(".aclass(n)").event(".divclass(n)");
});
