View 1 RepliesI'm ok building and display a modal window, but how do I make it display where the user clicked in the window, as opposed to making it centered in the window?Also, how do I tell the modal to open to the right if the user clicks too far left in the document and vice versa? Or is that a default action?

I am trying to pass the link's href to the modal confirmation so that when a user clicks 'continue' they go on to the new URL--or standard 'cancel'I have this code so far (cobbled together from a few sources--I AM A NOT A PROGRAMMER!!!!), but the dialog is not triggering (links just go to new URL without dialog popping up) (linking to Google API version of jQuery):

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt should open a modal everytime a link of a given class is clicked. But... it does not.
Code JavaScript:
//get the url of the link clicked
var url;
$('a.edit').livequery('click',function(){
url= $(this).attr('href');
});
[Code]....
When a link of class .edit is clicked, the overlay covers the page for an instant, then a redirect occurs to the page that should be loaded in the modal box (instead of the page being loaded in the modal). It's probably a small mistake as I can get it working the way I want using jqm 'trigger:a.edit'. The problem with this approach is that I lose the livequery power (links from ajax loaded content won't fire jqm).
I am trying to find a script (and failed, even on google) to create a countdown timer on a website. The details are : a countdown timer that (a) runs off server time, not client time and (b) resets every 10 minutes. The only example i could give to clear up any questions would be something extremely similar to facebook app games : eg mafia wars etc energy refill timers so people visiting my web page would see a countdown timer that was counting down 10 minutes and then resetting itself, on the hour, 10 past, 20 past etc etc. And also, can the counter trigger a script, orwouldit be best to use a scheduled task for this? I do not want the timer to take the user from the web page.
I am not sure of the exact name of a such counter, so maybe thats why google is not giving me the answers i need. Also I know i maybe need php to run frrom a server time. I can code php half-competently, but javascript is out of my knowledge range at present (although i can usually see code and know how to adapt it to my needs etc)
I want to create/dislpay a modal dialog that contains no default title bar(ie., Web Page Dialog) displayed. Also in the modal dialog I would like to display a dynamic content retrieved from database, as a grid.I dont want to use window.open or showmodaldialog as they display default titles. I am creating an admin in ColdFusion and am trying to add a feature where when the user clicks the "edit" button for something, a modal window will pop up which contains a form (loaded from an external file) that when the user submits it, it's an AJAX submit and then the modal window closes and fires off a function that updates the display page. I am using SimpleModal [URL] and I managed to load an external form file into the modal window using $.get but then I can't figure out how to get that form that loads in the modal window to submit via AJAX instead of the default form post that happens. I need to submit their data via AJAX and then if successful, close the window and do the update function on the display. Has anyone already done this?

I use javascript to create a cookie when you click a link
<a href="#" onclick="document.cookie='settings=blue; expires=31/03/2009;'">Blue</a>
This creates a cookie and I can get it back easily but I want to use it as settings. I have 3 folders of pictures white blue and pink the user will click the link selecting there colour creating a cookie. Now when the page finds the cookie it needs to place the output in to the path.
<img src="pictures/ !!!output!!! /something.png">
So far I have this (just a trial)
<script type="text/javascript" src="cookie.js">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function image(){
settings=getCookie('settings');
if (settings!=null && settings!=""){
document.write('<img src="'+settings+'.png">')
}}document.write(image())
</script>
This works but next to the image it says undefined so how would I get rid of it?

It is perfect in IE and Chrome.
At the moment my page will jump to the top (because of the #) whenever a new tab is clicked or when it automatically rotates to one.
Is there a way to stop this, maybe using an onclick event instead of relying on the #tabs links?

The code for the pop window is: <a href="#" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('alabaster/pop1.html','alabaster','width=490,height=630')">View large image</a>
The problem I am having is that on the main content page, you scroll down, click on link to pop up (page loads) but the main parent content jumps back to the top of page, meaning you have to scroll back down to where you were.
