Create A Function That Hides Two Divs?
Mar 8, 2011
I've created a function that would hide and show paragraphs from a drop down list, that paragraph contains a link that will show a div containing a map of google. But when I switch to another State on the drop down list I'd like to have the original first paragraph that showed up to disappear. So far, I can only get the <div> that contains the map to disappear.a function that would hide the paragraph and the <div>? Again, Here's the code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN">
<html>
<head>[code].....

I expanded upon a script a friend helped me write, to create a simple check box that hides / shows content, as shown HERE. [URL] Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to expand this, so that I can use more than one checkbox on the page, to open different sections.
<html>
<head>
<title>Title of page</title>
<script language="JavaScript">
function getCookie(NameOfCookie)
{ if (document.cookie.length > 0)
{ begin = document.cookie.indexOf(NameOfCookie+"=");

I'm trying to code a menu which when clicking say the 'news' button, a div will appear to the right containing the news, if you then click the button below, say 'information', the news div will be replaced by the 'information' div. I can figure out how to make a single menu item show and hide a div, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it for a whole menu.

[URL].. I have used some jQuery to hide two divs (#choices and #review) until a selection of "yes" or "no" is made. My problem is that as the page loads, these div's are displayed for a split second until the jQuery hides them. Can anyone tell me a better way or a fix for the existing code that I am using?

I've got my accordion working.The html and jq are as follows
<div class="nav">
<h3><div></div>
<h3><div></div>
<h3><div></div>etc..
</div>
$(document).ready(function() {
This hides all divs except the first one (check the site) on load, then whenever I click a h3, it performs as an accordion, sliding the hidden div down and other visible divs back upI want to add another functionality. I want it to be like, if you click on a h3, and the next div is already open, it will hide that div. else, it performs this function. This would be a basic if/else then wouldn't it? I'm new to jq but I've done mIRC scripting in the past and I don't know how the selectors work yet

I'm having a hard time getting my head round it again. I know it could be more efficient in jQuery, but I'd be happy just to get it working, with an extra variable, in straight js.The function takes an array and progressively hides each element at constant interval, in this case 50ms:
function hide_50(arrayA,visibility,current) {
if ( current == null ) current = 0;
var arrayB=(typeof arrayA == 'string')? arrayA.split(',') : arrayA;

I have been on this for over an hours now, it is probably something simple and/or stupid, but why doesn't this script work? I have read forums til my eyes are crossed and can't see what I am doing wrong I am new to javascript, but not programming. The point here is to create a function that compares two strings and then shows or hides a div depending on the results of the comparison. I was trying to pass in the name of the two input text boxes containing the text and the name of the div to show or hide (so that it can be used in multiple scenariios.) Right now my error message is that document.getElementById(field1).value is not a function.
Here is the code below..

I've been wondering lately: is it possible to create an array of some html tags (let's say array of <div> or array of <p>)? Something which would allow me adding a new <div> or <p> to the array.
I am to make a small html webpage in which there are supposed to be 2 text areas: in the first are certain words (for example tomorrow, money etc.), and in the second one there is an input text (let's say "Tomorrow you must send me the money I need"). Javascript should do this: print the input text in a paragraph/div, highlighting the words mentioned above. Something like: Tomorrow you must send me the money I need. This is how I thought of the array of tags, which can at any time add a new word to the output paragraph, it's only to be chosen whether to highlight it or not.

I found code on this site for creating popup divs, and got one such popup working fine. Trouble is, I can't figure out how to create multiple popups. I've tried duplicating the CSS piece, calling it layer2, and referencing it from the link piece, but nothing happens. Do I need to create a new javascript file for each layer?

<div id="click2">click2</div>
<div id="click3">click3</div>

I have around thirty divs inside a master div. These divs contain each one a dot image of a dotted line. I want to create an animation with this dots so each one will set its opacity from 0 to 1 a tenth of a second one after the other. I know this should be very simple to do with a loop but I don't know how to loop through the divs inside a master div.I have a few lines of code from jquery to set opacity but other than that I dont know how to do what I want.
Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".div1").animate({opacity: "-400"}, 1)
.animate({opacity: "0.01"}, 1000)

I am trying to write code so when I click to show Div1(called a), Div2(called d) opens after a few seconds of div1 showing up. Here's the code -
Quote:
function ReverseDisplay(a,d) {
if(document.getElementById(a).style.display == "none")[code]....
Div2 shows up right away instead of following the timer when I click on the link to show Div1. How do I get the timer function to work?

I have a calendar view made up of div tags for each day. I can
highlight a number of days in a column by clicking on one and holding
down shift and clicking on another one. each div tag is called "boxX_Y"
where Y is the column and X is the row. The javascript knows the first
clicked box, and the second and changes the style.className for the
boxes in between based on the Y value.
Trouble is, when selecting about 30 boxes it takes a while to change
the style.className, so I would like to display a message to say
"Please wait". I've done this by creating another div tag called
wait_message, and set the visibility to "visible" when the function to
highlight the boxes is called. However, the wait message box isn't
displayed until the loop for changing the classNames has finished, even
though the wait_message visibility code is above the loop.
Is there any way to make the code take effect straight away rather than
waiting for the whole function to be computed?

I will have a page with about a 100 or so different links and I would like each one to toggle the visibility of its corresponding hidden div.For instance, if I have a county 'Johnson' when it's clicked I would like the hidden div associated with that county to become visible. I would like to do this without having to write a different function for each one. Is there a way to do this easily?
Below is a solution I was given elsewhere but I couldn't get it to work.Most ideal of all I would like it to work with an image map, with each county having it's own set of stats to be toggled in.

I know it used to not, but according to the blur() docs page "the domain of the event has been extended to include all element types." Is this true, or do I need to set up an onClick event for the body and check to see if the currentTarget or its parents are the div I'm trying to fire the blur event on?

$('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').fadeOut('slow', function(){ $('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').load('./includes/serversinfo.php #servers #". $Server['ServiceName'] ."', function(){ $('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').fadeIn('slow'); }); });

I have two left floated divs - in the left div I want a series of drop downs (possibly check boxes as well) about a series of products. When the user makes their decision and presses submit, I want the form to submit to a javascript function that says "Right, you will need, from your responses, product C" and in the right hand floated div, a series of hidden product info divs whose visibility is changed depending on which product the function determines is the one for you.
Broken down into parts I think I need to do the following:
a) Standard HTML form with drop downs etc and submit
b) Hidden divs
c) Submission process locally to javascript function to determine which product to show/hide
d) Javascript function that makes the decision
e) Javascript that hides/shows products
Unfortunately a server side option is not available; it has to be a client side solution and I only could think of javascript. I can probably handle all bar c) and d)

This is a very basic version of what I am trying to do. I have a dynamic list which is set in a table. When clicked, a function is run to set up a new list.. The reason I explain that, is that I need to keep it dynamic.Now for the problem:When I run this page, I have the button made right away, then when clicked it creates the new button. The new button should also run the function to create the new button again, but when I click it, I only receive "error on page".

I'm trying to get something to work that sounds simple and it worked great until I had a second item to apply it to. This works fine, with one div. When you hover over the link with the class 1slide, it loads the div with the class panel1. The problem is I can't get it to work if I use a second function for .2slide to load the div .panel2.
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
});});
</script>
I've tried multiple variations, including 2 <script> tags with the classes swapped, and combining as shown below
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
});
jQuery(".2slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel2").slideToggle("slow");
});
});
</script>
I think I'm combining these wrong but I've tried multiple different ways. They're classes now but were ID's, and that didn't work either. Figures, I was hesitant about posting hours ago because I knew it might be something simple.. I almost solved everything with this:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
jQuery(".2slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel2").slideToggle("slow");
jQuery(".3slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel3").slideToggle("slow");
})})})})
</script>
All 4 div's .panel1, .panel2, .panel3 are set to display:none. The only issue now is panel3 is twitchy. I have a feeling it's yet again just a closing bracket issue. Am I writing this correctly? semi-colons anywhere, mess the entire thing up. I am using FireFox 3.5 for reference.

What I want to do is have 5 <div>s displayed in a fixed position on my page. The divs will contain text and pictures. Only one div is displayed at a time, and every 5 seconds, the next div slides over the top of the current div (from right to left) until it is completely obscured. At the conclusion of the fifth, it starts again with number 1.
