JQuery :: Does Blur Function Work On DIVs Yet?
Jul 1, 2011
I know it used to not, but according to the blur() docs page "the domain of the event has been extended to include all element types." Is this true, or do I need to set up an onClick event for the body and check to see if the currentTarget or its parents are the div I'm trying to fire the blur event on?

The following script sets values for various input elements and I want exactly the same function to run for the on blur event of at least two fields. The first half of the script works fine - however when I take the $('#prod_id2unit_price').blur(function() and script it as a separate function and then call it from
$('#prod_id2unit_price').blur(tvf());
$('#prod_id2qty').blur(tvf());
it all stops working -
</script>
<script language="JavaScript" >
$(document).ready(function(){
unitprice0 = $('#prod_id0unit_price').val();

I would like to open a window "under" the current window (So it doesn't open on top). I think this can be achieved using the .blur function.
So something like:
<a href="#" onclick="openWindow [URL];this.blur();return false;">Open website</a>
(Obviously this doesn't work)
I've seen ways to do it, if I'm using 1 url, but because I have a list of 30 different links, I can't simply use:
Code:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
function goNewWin() {
TheNewWin =window.open("somepage.html");
TheNewWin.blur();
}
</SCRIPT>
Which is why I need something that I can use on each different url individually that opens a new window under the current one.

Here's my issue, hoping someone can help. I have a page with 5 roundabouts on it showing pictures depending on a button click. Buttons would look like:
DOGS CATS BIRDS FISH REPTILES
So if you click Dogs, I want it to hide the roundabout for Cats, Birds, Fish, and Reptiles but show Dogs. This works perfectly in FF, Chrome, IE8, IE7, but if I view in compatibility mode or with an IE6/7 browser, all 5 roundabouts show and even if I hit the buttons, which fire the show/hide code, nothing gets hidden. Here's some code, I'm hoping someone has a tip on where I am going wrong in getting this simple show/hide of a div.

I got two divs on my page with the same id (id="content").

How do I resolve this issue without a another div?

I'm trying to use the function once which is .load() and fetch my content from there,then after that I'd like to seperate the class's or div's I'll be using such as <div d="test1">This content will show in the external website</div>But I'm having trouble doing that, I've used multiple lines just to load the same page and take small bits of content out and it doesn't work well together as some load's results will be different compared to the others.Heres my code:
$('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').fadeOut('slow', function(){ $('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').load('./includes/serversinfo.php #servers #". $Server['ServiceName'] ."', function(){ $('#". $Server['ServiceName'] ."').fadeIn('slow'); }); });

I'm trying to get something to work that sounds simple and it worked great until I had a second item to apply it to. This works fine, with one div. When you hover over the link with the class 1slide, it loads the div with the class panel1. The problem is I can't get it to work if I use a second function for .2slide to load the div .panel2.
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
});});
</script>
I've tried multiple variations, including 2 <script> tags with the classes swapped, and combining as shown below
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
});
jQuery(".2slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel2").slideToggle("slow");
});
});
</script>
I think I'm combining these wrong but I've tried multiple different ways. They're classes now but were ID's, and that didn't work either. Figures, I was hesitant about posting hours ago because I knew it might be something simple.. I almost solved everything with this:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery().ready(function(){
jQuery(".1slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel1").slideToggle("slow");
jQuery(".2slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel2").slideToggle("slow");
jQuery(".3slide").hover(function(){
jQuery(".panel3").slideToggle("slow");
})})})})
</script>
All 4 div's .panel1, .panel2, .panel3 are set to display:none. The only issue now is panel3 is twitchy. I have a feeling it's yet again just a closing bracket issue. Am I writing this correctly? semi-colons anywhere, mess the entire thing up. I am using FireFox 3.5 for reference.

I'm having an annoying issue with addClass(). I'm trying to find all divs with id name '#moldura_slides' and add the class '.horizontal' to each one of them. The problem is that only the first div matched gets the class. The others are just ignored and don't get it.
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#moldura_slides").addClass("horizontal");
});
This is the page: [URL]

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
page.html
<script type="text/javascript">
loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}
[Code]...
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

I'm looking for some javascript to work with wordpress (jQuery preferrably) that will show/hide multiple divs on one click.
I had one working but it was kinda janky because it was causing me to have two divs with the same ID on one page. No good.
Since I updated to wp2.8.3 prior to launch, it's not working. So I've decided to just try and do it right.
Here's a page: [URL]
So, what I want to happen: On page load, the first tab: "general" and it's corresponding div beneath should be showing. And the first image should be showing. The other content divs and images should be hidden. I've given the text content divs a dashed border to show their borders. When a visitor clicks "dine at home" the general div and image hide, the second content div shows, as does the second image (it's currently the identical image, but the client may change later.) Etc.
I'll be using this function on a few other pages as well.
how to adjust this javascript to work on two different IDs at once?
current code:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
$(function () {
var tabContainers = $('div.imgswap > div');

I am trying to write code so when I click to show Div1(called a), Div2(called d) opens after a few seconds of div1 showing up. Here's the code -
Quote:
function ReverseDisplay(a,d) {
if(document.getElementById(a).style.display == "none")[code]....
Div2 shows up right away instead of following the timer when I click on the link to show Div1. How do I get the timer function to work?

I have a calendar view made up of div tags for each day. I can
highlight a number of days in a column by clicking on one and holding
down shift and clicking on another one. each div tag is called "boxX_Y"
where Y is the column and X is the row. The javascript knows the first
clicked box, and the second and changes the style.className for the
boxes in between based on the Y value.
Trouble is, when selecting about 30 boxes it takes a while to change
the style.className, so I would like to display a message to say
"Please wait". I've done this by creating another div tag called
wait_message, and set the visibility to "visible" when the function to
highlight the boxes is called. However, the wait message box isn't
displayed until the loop for changing the classNames has finished, even
though the wait_message visibility code is above the loop.
Is there any way to make the code take effect straight away rather than
waiting for the whole function to be computed?

I've created a function that would hide and show paragraphs from a drop down list, that paragraph contains a link that will show a div containing a map of google. But when I switch to another State on the drop down list I'd like to have the original first paragraph that showed up to disappear. So far, I can only get the <div> that contains the map to disappear.a function that would hide the paragraph and the <div>? Again, Here's the code:

I will have a page with about a 100 or so different links and I would like each one to toggle the visibility of its corresponding hidden div.For instance, if I have a county 'Johnson' when it's clicked I would like the hidden div associated with that county to become visible. I would like to do this without having to write a different function for each one. Is there a way to do this easily?
Below is a solution I was given elsewhere but I couldn't get it to work.Most ideal of all I would like it to work with an image map, with each county having it's own set of stats to be toggled in.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I'm having problems with applying focus() to an element inside a blur() event handler. I get different results in different browsers. Specifically, IE and Opera seem to work fine, Firefox doesn't seem to do anything, and Chrome and Safari only do half of the job. Basically, I have an <input> with a blur() event handler attached to it. The event handler contains the code to apply focus to that same input, effectively disallowing the user to remove focus from the input.
