Container Tag Content Change With Data From Another HTML File?
Feb 27, 2010
I want to dynamically change the content of a container tag (DIV for example) with the data of another container tag present in a different HTML file placed in a different folder
My open HTML file is 'A.htm' placed in 'Folder A' and container id='old_data'
My required content is inside the tag with id='new_data' present in file 'B.htm' and placed in 'Folder B'
so, code in file A.htm may be
> document.getElementById('old_data').innerHTML = <<What Comes Here >>
I am currently working on an announcements portlet for a dashboard that my team is creating. What is desired is to be able to have this portlet access a stored text file (file can be edited so content is subject to change) that will have all the information needed for these announcements. The JavaScript will then write it into a html file. I am a novice at html, and javascript;
I want to change the content of different div's using .html(). The change should be done by clicking on the inner element of the container. The content of the clicked container should be changed with the first container. My problem is, that the following code does the change, but only once. After every div has changed one time, no more reaction is shown.
I'm a web design student who has designed a website for a family member in my spare time. The website uses 5 html documents and all share one css document, it has no jscript docs. Recently, we learned how to use jscript to set up an image gallery in class where clicking on a certain button changes the picture shown on the page, my question is can the same thing be applied to the contents of an html document?(<p>,<a>,<img>) I'm aware you can change the contents of say, a <p> with an id tag but I mean to do it for a whole sections of the site. That includes paragraphs, images etc.
If so, it would be great to cut down my html from 6 pages to just one.
I have successfully converted my .tiff file to a text file. This was a major step. My issue now that i am facing is "capturing" pertinent data. I am attempting to do this by running a JavaScript to create an HTML file from the .txt file. I am having trouble figuring out how I am going to pass the argument of a .txt file and embedding it into the HTML page.
I would like to make the following thing: Load a random file, from a xml list, into a div. I've made a scheme where I show what I was trying to make, but I don't know how to make it.http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3730/randomm.jpg
I would like to load into a div a random HTML file, loaded from a XML.is it better to do with Javascript ?
I have a website and it has a section that I want to be updated by the content of the file but can't find any code on the net that will read a file and print the results to the screen. The closest thing I could find to what I wanted to do was this but can't get it to work: Code:
I used the jquery-function replaceWith() to replace this html part <div class="montag">...</div> with this part <div id="ersatz">...</div> Then i implemented a listener for montag and a listener for ersatz, so I can switch back and forth between the different parts.
The side gets loaded within the montag div and when i click on this part the listener works and the html gets switched to the ersatz part, but after this the listener for ersatz does not work, although the modified html gets displayed in firebug. Are there any solutions for such a kind of problem?
is there a way of sending data inputted into a form inside a chunk, to an ASP form on a completely external page (i.e on a different, unrelated site)? This is the code I have for the form chunk:
var html = $.get('templates/Template.html', function(html) { }); console.log(html);
The object returned, html, have the property response, wich contain the html of page Template.html In firebug I see that the property responseText have all the html of the page, but... how can I get this value? I have try with:
I have this code that displays all vertical buttons for sharing my content however I want to display horizontal buttons if the user is using a smaller window size. It will have a different div and some of the code wil be changed i.e. "data-count="horizontal".
It would be awesome to also do this via my external JS file so it is not inline.
But that is not essential.
Also using fluid width CSS is not an option due to my having a sidebar with ads that can't be changed in size.
I have a html form which produces 3 post varaibles.
I'd link to be able to call a php file when sumbitted that sends the data from my form and returns the results from my php file to a div on the oringal page.
I know that you can use .load to call a page to be diaplayed within a div $('#container').load('url #div_on_page') but dont know how to send the from data.
I would like to create a html E-test form run on PC and the data will save into a file on disk. I search online for this function code but found that most the script only save the cookie, is it possible for javascript save form data to file? Here is the ideal for my survay form,
1. user click "start" button for the e-test,
2. user need to finish the e-test with in 20 minutes, after 20 minutes the form will auto submit and the data will save into file,
3. me will go to the file folder open it and print out the qestion and anwser.
4. The file will be detele after i print out and the next user can do the e-test again.
I got the time counter and the auto submit script. but i just have no ideal how to save the data into file.
Picture a table where each cell row is 50px tall, with 3 to 5 columns of varying length. For example: thumbnail, name, description, price, options. The thumbnail will always be the same size, but for efficiency of space, nothing else is.
My question is one of overflow. With long descriptions, overflow:hidden will keep things clean. But the most aesthetic presentation would be todynamically truncate the description with ellipses (...) somewhere just before the text runs off the end of the cell (like the ubiquitous [More...] feature, but first filling the cell as much as possible).
This is a typographically desirable feature, and I can come pretty close with php
I am trying to fade a container and then load the content and then fade it back in. However the content loads before the first animation is done. How do I tell it to wait for the animation to be finished before it loads the content.
Im looking for something that would allow a user to click on a button / link that would then reveal hidden content by sliding the whole of the main site content / container down.
I found this which slides the page content to the left or right [URL]
But need something vertical, almost as if the whole site was a big vertical accordian.
Or like on twitter / facebook phone app when refreshing for new tweets etc.
I am using Lightbox 2.04. I would like to change the size of the image container for the large image. No matter what size I actually make the image, when it appears it always fills the containing box and is too big. It is portrait orientation and sometime the image needs vertical scrolling to see it all.
How do I change the size of the image container so it fits nicely within the screen and where do I find the code to do this? I want the container to be the size of the image. Does this happen automatically based on the actual size of the image? If so, mine doesn't do that.
I have a <input type = file> button for uploading a file in my php page. As soon as i select a file from the button, i need the file data to be displayed so that i check whether the file selected has the correct data. How can i do this.
HTML parsing error:unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed(kb927917) My page is not getting displayed In IE although running good in chromr and mozilla.... And after refreshing in IE it is displayed properly.
I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:
word1 word2 word3 word4 word5
I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..

i am thinking of using a xml file as a data base for example , the xml file stores a list of reference numbers which is allocated to a url or a name such as 0123456789 and i have a text box on a webpage and the user types in a reference number and the javascripts reads the xml file to check if its a valid reference number i.e a registered number i am new to working with xml etc.
[Code]....
id like it to read the specific data thats contained within the tag such as 0123456789's tag = JOE
