Sending Data From An HTML Form To An External ASP File?
Sep 8, 2009
is there a way of sending data inputted into a form inside a chunk, to an ASP form on a completely external page (i.e on a different, unrelated site)?This is the code I have for the form chunk:
I have a html form which produces 3 post varaibles.
I'd link to be able to call a php file when sumbitted that sends the data from my form and returns the results from my php file to a div on the oringal page.
I know that you can use .load to call a page to be diaplayed within a div $('#container').load('url #div_on_page') but dont know how to send the from data.
I'm tring to do an AJAX call using a submit button. I need to submit the contents of a textfield to a PHP page.It is working on a <select> tag using the <option> tags to send the contents of the <option> tag to the outside PHP file, but I can't get the syntax right to send the contents of the textfield.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
I have several functions in a .js file that collect various types of information from the visitor, let's just say they are strings, and want to send that information to my database. I have no problem putting the information in my database once I get everything into PHP (I'm relatively new to JS).
Am I able to make a form in the .js file and automatically submit it once all the functions finish? I also need the page not to refresh when sending this information so I'm assuming some AJAX will need to be involved. I was able to send a basic form using some jQuery I found and have the page not refresh but can't figure out how to do the same in a .js file.
<script type="text/javascript"> // wait for the DOM to be loaded $(document).ready(function() { // bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function $('#myForm').ajaxForm(function() { }); }); </script>
i have a widget which incllude html script, I am trying to send this widget to people that request it and allow them to use it in their own webpages....I am trying to figure out how to let the person enter information in the "form" and when they press the send button no screen pops up but the information is sent to a textfile in our public html directory....
I would like to create a html E-test form run on PC and the data will save into a file on disk. I search online for this function code but found that most the script only save the cookie, is it possible for javascript save form data to file? Here is the ideal for my survay form,
1. user click "start" button for the e-test,
2. user need to finish the e-test with in 20 minutes, after 20 minutes the form will auto submit and the data will save into file,
3. me will go to the file folder open it and print out the qestion and anwser.
4. The file will be detele after i print out and the next user can do the e-test again.
I got the time counter and the auto submit script. but i just have no ideal how to save the data into file.
I got an [object error] from IE 7.0.5730.11 when moving the <script src="..." type="text/javascript" /tag from the <headpart to the <bodysection of a HTML file.
Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..." type="text/javascript" /from the <bodysection, instead from the <headone? If yes, anyone has any idea of which the problem could be? If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file inside the <bodypart of a HTML file, for example, using Javascript to some particular native functions?
I have a external file for example abc.js ,in this abc.js file no functions ,it contains some scripting,i want to call the scripting file though html I use the code
I have a problem with sending data from a form to a php script with AJAX. To test if it works, I try to send data from the form, print it in the php with "echo", and then put it back in the initial html file.
My Javascript code is:
The function stateChanged, basically says:
The problem is that the response is empty, but I don't know why. I have checked the input data and the postData variable says "firstName="+input (e.g. "firstName=Robert"), so that's not the error.
I know how to send data from a form via action/method but I'm clueless as to how to send php variables from a form using jquery AJAX and get a callback echoing the response
I'm looking at the visual jquery AJAX, but I don't know how to config the form to send the properties to the php script by clicking the submit button
Code:
Also what would I need in the php code to return a call back?
Is it possible to upload FILE from form by AJAX ? I capture values on form field and send by ajax call and all works perfect, but when i try upload file it doesn'work. Maybe wron header is set? What do you think of that?
well i'm kind of new to this website and scripting with javascript but i am wondering: in a client side .js file i have some coding which results in a string which is stored in a variable called exportData
now i want that string to be written into a text file on a server but how do i do that? it is not local on the client's pc and i can't find how to do it anywhere..
how to load an XML file into a DOM. I can get it done in IE, but in mozilla I am missing something. Here is what my loadXML() function looks like:
function loadXML(){ try { xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.async = "false"; xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = verify; hasFile = xmlDoc.load(info.XMLDocument); if (hasFile){ xmlObj = xmlDoc.documentElement; allTopics = xmlObj.getElementsByTagName("topic"); }} catch(e) { xmlDoc = (new DOMParser()).parseFromString(document.getElementById('info').innerHTML, 'text/xml'); hasFile = true; allTopics = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("topic");
if (hasFile){ allTopics = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("topic"); alert(allTopics[0].firstChild.getAttribute("name")); }}}
Where verify is another function. The try part works for IE, but the catch part doesn't work for Mozilla. I am not finding any information as to really use an XML DOM properly in Mozilla. I'm trying to get allTopics to be a handle on the same thing in both the "try" and the "catch".
Actually I am on web project with html and java script and my problem is that I have send feed back form as E mail, is there any though which can I send My feed back as an email without using php or asp because I know how to email through but i have to send my form by using java script or html.
Scenario:i have a user form, and want to modify user details. all user details are from json file. Prob:how can i modify external json file with its updated user details? or what available function to be used?
I am trying to get an external php page to display on any website. What I have is a side button that opens a small new window (an example of which is at my username website.)
What I want to do is place a php page full of dynamic goodies in a way that someone can have that box on their site by just copying code and paste it into their website. The result would be that their website will then have a php page from my server showing up in the box. one they can dynamically control through a database (again on my server, hence the need for a php page from my server) I have tried a different approach using a similar script that when you put two lines of code on the bottom of a remote web page it brings in everything but unless the content is within the same domain the java script will not let the page pull out.
I can not seem to find anything about this. I am not familiar with Iframes but maybe I should look into that.
How to load external html (e.g. test.html) into index.html?
test.html contains links, div, css and its own javascript code.
I tried this [url] but it doesnt work. I can load external html file but it loads only css, links and div, not javascripot code which is attached to that file.
I'm giving away a freebie on my blog for other people to use on their blogs. It's an add-on thingy that allows their readers to share their blog posts on social networks like Twitter, etc.Since I doubt the people who will be using this freebie are experts when it comes to HTML, I don't want to dump a lot of code on them. I want to give it to them in just a few lines of code.An external JS file works great for this... well, sort of. Basically, this is how the add-on is supposed to work.
My JS file is going to create a bunch of divs, spans, links, and all that lovely stuff, and give them some classes and styling. Then, there's going to be another script (not my own) that I'll be giving away along with my JS script. This script is an AddThis script (AddThis, if you didn't know, is a sharing and bookmarking service used on many sites). This AddThis script basically takes the HTML elements I created in my script (which it can identify by the classes I defined), and make them clickable, and do stuff that I don't want to bother to make them do myself. In other words, it makes my job MUCH easier, in addition to giving the person using my freebie the ability to see who is sharing their blog posts.
creating all these HTML elements was the use innerHTML(). But the problem is that while my script loads fine, the AddThis script doesn't add the classes that it's supposed to. The AddThis script does load, and I've checked my script for errors and I don't see any, so I assume for some reason AddThis is unable to add the classes. So, I tried createElement(). Same exact elements being created, but I get the same problem I have with innerHTML().So, I tried document.write() and everything worked exactly as it's supposed to, which is great, but I know how evil everyone says document.write is, and the last thing I want to do is be evil, LOL.
I think I've tried everything now, even a normal HTML page in an iframe, but that doesn't work because the AddThis script gets the URL of the current page so it can use it for sharing the blog post (like in a tweet), and I don't want the source of the iframe as the URL!
I would like to know how I can make either innerHTML() or createElement() work for this script, and if it's impossible, maybe you can at least tell me WHY it's not working. For me, there's nothing worse than not knowing why something isn't working!
I spent the best part of yesterday trying to get my form to be sent to the server however for the life of me I cannot figure out the problem. I haven't used prototype before but here is my code that I think should work perfectly fine,The php script works perfectly, i've entered test data into it and it makes a connection to the third party server using curl and then requests information that I get back i.e. the routing id comes back. But I cannot test the data using the form as the request isn't working for some reason.
I'm fairly new to jquery so apologies if this is a very simple question with a very simple answer, but I just can't figure out the solution. I have an overlay div, and when I close the overlay I want to remove the html inside it and then re-load it from the specified file. I have already worked out how to empty the div, but what I now want to do is re-populate it with the content from a separate file on my web server.
I am in situation where I need a code to redirect a HTML page to new location (Static HTML/Dynamic Web page) however the challenge is that I can not use usual JavaScript Redirect code due to restriction that we can't execute any code/script under body tag.
I found that this can be done using an external JS file however I am not able to achieve this.
I need the code to be generic so we can apply the same JS file to any page. However, I want the new window to open over the previous one versus opening a second new window.
I would like to make the following thing: Load a random file, from a xml list, into a div. I've made a scheme where I show what I was trying to make, but I don't know how to make it.http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3730/randomm.jpg
I would like to load into a div a random HTML file, loaded from a XML.is it better to do with Javascript ?
how is it possible to use the load function after 10sec to load a external file? I googled for the delay(10000) option but be not able to include it into my script:[code]
