Capture Window Keyboard Event In The Child IFrame?
Jul 13, 2009
I have created a classic Snake game. When I run the game in a browser, it works fine. But when I run it as an IFRAME in another window, then it fails to get the keyboard events.
Parent CODE:
Code:
<html>
<head>
</head>
[code]....
how to capture Window Keyboard Event in the Child IFrame
I have an HTML page where I am opening a child window using window.open. the child window is something like yahoo.com. I want to refresh the parent window when the child window is closed.
When the user clicks on a link within that frame, the frame posts back (2. site is being displayed)....from this time on the above mentioned call does not work anymore. The code is located outside, so it should not touch anything. The strange thing is, that it works for the first site, but not for sub sites?The structure looks like the following:
I have a javascript/MSHTML editor loaded in an IFrame call "msEditor1". It gets composed after the document loads through document.write commands from a JS function. I'm trying to set the editor so whenever a key is typed I capture the key event from the editor and then go from there.
I have a handle to the editor using either one of these:
I have a HTML and I am opening another link in a separate window using window.open() . The child window is something like 'http://yahoo.com' which is out side html. I need to refresh the parent window when the child window is closed.
I have a simple javascript function loadNPlay('file'),
parent.loadNPlay('file');
on clicke event it simply plays the file in a player in the parent window. with IE and Mozilla its working fine but with Safari, when called from iframe this function doesn't work(it does work, ie loadNPlay(..) when called in the same window, in safari)
I have tried:parent.loacation.loadNPlay(..) as well, it doesn't work.
I'm working on a quote generator and I'm running into an issue with onChange events not firing when a text field is dynamically populated via a child window. Here's my setup: I have 3 text boxes (quantity, price, markup) that are multiplied together in order to give the total of that product. Each text box has an onChange event [called calculator()] that calls an external javascript file, which handles the multiplication and instantly updates the total of that product. Up to this point, everything works fine - - when I manually edit any of the 3 inputs, the total updates correctly.
However, my problem is that I now have the "price" text box being dynamically populated, and when it updates it is not firing the onChange event attached to it. The text box is being filled by way of launching a child window and running the following code within it:
i'm loading an external web page (i.e. google.com, espn.com) into an IFRAME on top of a web application we have running in IE running on a kiosk. the kiosk is only a touch screen and has no hardware keyboard.
i'm looking to create a software keyboard that can be requested by a click on our web application (a web page for all intents and purposes). the windows accessibility keyboard would be ok, but when opened from the browser you get the 'confirm opening an exe' dialog, which ain't cool.
so next i was hoping make an html/flash keyboard which would talk to the forms within the IFRAME via a javascript layer. however i later found that javascript is not permitted to access the contents of a document within an IFRAME loaded from an external web site. so there is no way for javascript to directly modify the text values of the form elements.
so now i'm stuck....i'm limited to solutions above the IFRAME level...is there a way to programmatically mimic a keypress and send it to the browser from within the browser? any other ideas?
i have developed a RichtextEditor using div tags as the container element. When this editor is directly used in a html page..the keyboard controls like 'Delete', 'Ctrl+X', 'Ctrl+C' are working..:thumbsup:. But when i used an iframe to load the editor then these keyboard controls are not working...
I've been looking up lots of documentation and trying to work out a cross-platform method of capturing a keyboard event and working out which key was pressed. From what I can find, there doesn't appear to be any standardised keyboard event interface other than this DOM 3 Events W3C Working Group Note [1]. However, it is only a note and doesn't appear to be implemented in any browser. Is there another standard that I've missed?
The Gecko DOM Reference lists event.keyCode [2], but this doesn't appear to be implemented in Firefox 1.0.2, as e.keyCode in the following returns 0, regardless of the key pressed. Code:
I used jQuery because is a very powerful tool, but I'm currently stuck with the iframes.The problem is simple, I try to capture the value of a class, or to create an event that is in an iframe.
How to handle "onMouseOver" event with keyboard. With JQuery, "onMouseOver" on a "plus symbol", small banner with some text content will be shown, it has been working with "Mouse(input device)", but same effect has been expecting from "keyborad" tab ordering on to that particular "plus symbol".
I am currently working on SAP Adobe Interactive forms. I want to know what are the events for Keyboard ENTER Button [i.e. when i press ENTER Button event should get called..]? Any sample code is available? I am going to call SAP Web Service through it
I have an iframe in my main html and within iframe, I'm loading another HTML webpage. In my main html page, I've captured the mouse click event, by setting the "onclick" for <bodyof main page.
I am having a play around with javascript and the html5 canvas to evaluate the feasibility of using it for a few personal projects.I have tried using both setInterval or setTimeout to set up a very rough framerate for an animation.The framerate is fine when coupled with a simple delta timing to smooth out the changes however when running under a large load (large images) I cannot seem to capture keyboard events very easily.
If I wiggle around the mouse a bit, it makes the keyboard more responsive but is there any way to get the window to poll the inputs rather than wait for an event to fire?This is much worse on Linux but the issue is still around on Windows.
Not sure how stupid this requirement is, but I have a scenario, where I am rendering reports via iframe by providing a URLI am rendering reports through iframe by providing the application URL. Now the requirement is to generate a PDF file out of the iframe. I have to create a pdf file from the iframe src. I have no control over the application that is generating report in jsp.Is it possible to capture contents of iframe as image or convert it into a PDF file?
I am trying to develop a Qwerty Shifter http:[url]....by handling keyboard events.I want to display a textbox and as user type any text it changes at once means as user types "a" it display "s" "b" changes "n"
As far as I understood, stopPropagation() is supposed to stop events bubbling 'up' though the element tree (through parent elements). Eg. If I use stopPropagation() on a click event on an anchor element in a list, the event would not be triggered on the list. In my code I have a popup div, that needs to have stopPropagation(), as a click on the document (everywhere other than the popup) will hide it. When I add an element to the popup that has a live click event, the live click event is never called, even though it is a child element of the popup. Shouldn't the live click get called first? If I remove the stopPropagation all is well.. some code:
I want to capture the event when a browser is closing, to give to the user the posibility of close or no this browser. When the browser is closing, this show a confirm window with two buttons: Accept and Cancel.
When press the Accept button, the browser is closing, and when press the Cancel button, the browser isnīt closing.
I have tried with the event onunload, but this closes first the browser, and then shows the confirm window.
How can I capture the event when I click with the cursor anywhere in the page (that is, on a component or elsewhere). This event would occure in an I.E 5.5 or later browser.
