I'm trying to make a Javascript application that animates a ball bouncing up and down. I have five image files (ball1.jpg, ball2.jpg, etc located in the same folder as my html file. Here is my code:
[Code]...
My code also has all of the text which makes it xhtml in the beginning which I didn't type out. When I open the html file in Chrome, I see the first picture and the Start Animation button but when I click the button nothing happens.

I'm new to coding and working on my school project. I have to animate a ball and make it move up and down the page using the if statement and the or logic. I understand the concepts of the if statement but when it comes to actually writing it in code, I fail miserably at it.
Heres the code...
<html><body>
<center><button type="button"onClick="first()">Click to move ball down!</button>
<button type="button"onclick="second()">Click to return ball to top!</button></center>
<IMG ID="ball"STYLE="position:absolute;left:50;top:50;width:100;height:100;"SRC="ball.jpg">
<script language="JavaScript">
var myElement=document.getElementById("ball");
var loc= 50;
function first(){
loc +=50;
myElement.style.top=loc;
}setInterval("first()",50);
function move(){
if(loc>500 || loc<0){
loc=-loc;
} myBall.style.top=loc;
}
</script></body></html>
So what is happening is the ball will continuously fall without stopping. How to get the ball bounce from the edge of the screen back to the top and continue to do it.

i've got the following code that checks the browser width and then redirect is it's under 500px, but IE 5.5 just redirects regardless:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function checkBrowserWidth()
{
var theWidth = getBrowserWidth();
if (theWidth < 499)
{
window.location.replace("/handheld/");
}
return true;
}
function getBrowserWidth()
{
if (window.innerWidth)
{
return window.innerWidth;
}
else if (document.documentElement && document.documentElement.clientWidth != 0)
{
return document.documentElement.clientWidth;
}
else if (document.body)
{
return document.body.clientWidth;
}
return 0;
}
checkBrowserWidth();
window.onload = checkBrowserWidth;
</script>
any ideas??

I have a very strange issue which happens only on the Mac/Firefox 2 (and 3 I believe) : [URL] The top left logo (ball) is a simple flash 'spin' animation, that is activated using javascript via the navigation (onmouseover effect). This works fine on Windows - Firefox, IE and Mac - Safari. However on Mac/Firefox, the logo ball on page load simply DOES NOT APPEAR. However, when you simply SCROLL down or if you move your mouse over the navigation (which calls the flash), then the logo appears. Basically, it's really odd because the logo ball is there, but Mac/Firefox does not show it until you do something to the page, like scroll.

I would like to know which plugin can help me achieve an animation of frames like the one seen on [URL]where you can click and drag the ipad to see it's cover functionality). I don't need the click and drag, just the animation, as I would set it on an auto animation.

i have a navigation menu which is supposed to slide in on mouseenter and slide out on mouseleave. I currently have this code:
$("parent-element").hover(
function() {
$(this).find("child-element").slideToggle("slow");
}
);
This works fine, except if you move your mouse over the child-element before the animation is complete.then it gets stuck in an endless bouncing up and down loop. Tried so many different possibilities with flagging the element while it was animating, stopping animations, adding delays and what not.

I have a javascript animation built with animate(). Whenever the page is reloaded, it is playing correctly, the problem is when the user navigates away from that page and the presses the Back button to go back to the previous page with the animation. The animation does not play again, it just shows the last state (probably because it's cached/in history?). Is there any way to restart the animation after the user presses the Back button?

I am new to Javascripting but am teaching myself and have written this script from my portfolio site in an effort to detect the users screen resolution so that my art is viewed properly. I have ran the code through a debugger and it has comback as "free of errors" but when I run the webpage on my local machine it does nothing, the page displays as if I had written nothing and due to my limited knowledge of Javascript I am at a loss and hoping for someone to say, "look you screwed this part up fix this and it's good to go". Here is the code
<script language="Javascript">
function detect(){
if(screen.width<1280||screen.height<720){
alert("This web page is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1280 by 720 or higher. Your current resolution is "+screen.width+" by "+screen.height+". If possible please change your resolution.")
}
else{

I'm using a little javascript to help my site's design to fit the visitor's entire browser window.
Everything works great apart from one problem. If a visitor first loads the page and the browser isn't maximised, the page loads correctly BUT if the visitor then proceeds to maximize the browser, the page is still set for the minimised browser. This condition stays until the visitor goes to another section of the site or refreshes the page. When this happens, the page again loads correctly.
I would like to force a page reload whenever the browser is minimizedmaximized or is in any other way changed size. How can I do this?

Is there any javascript code that I can use in "window.open" that will pop up a window of whatever the user has set as the default browser window size? (This should be the size of the browser window when they first open it)
Also, any code to go to the user's defined homepage as set up in their browsers preferences?

I am looking for the script to resize my website pages according to user's screen size. The size of the table in the template is 1008 * 576 pixels and users with small screen are not able to see the whole page, they have to scroll horizontally. Is there anything possible without modifying my current template?

I have developed script library for dispalying calendar for my web
pages.
To display calendar, i am using div tag and with in div tag, i am
defining the dates.
This div tag is wrapped by IFrame control, in order to make the div tag
overlap over 'select' controls.
These controls (both Div and IFrame) are dynamically generated and i am
setting the width of div tag based on my text box associated with the
calendar.
IFrame width is determined by Div tag's offsetWidth.
This calculation works properly in IE 6.0, but when it comes to Firefox
1.5.0, the offsetWidth has been calculated wrongly and my calendar
shrinks abnormally.

So I have a form with three drop down boxes. When I select a value in the first drop down box, the options for the second dropdown box are retrieved from a PHP script via AJAX. Likewise, when I select a value in the second dropdown box, the options for the third are also retrieved via AJAX. This is done with an onchange handler. You can see how this works at the following: [URL] That works perfectly. I run into problems later however when I try to change the value in one of the dropdown boxes with Javascript.
See, I have a text field that a user can enter a string into (this feature is not in the sandbox at that URL yet), and that string will then be used to populate the dropdown boxes. For example, if the user enters "subject-genus-dog", then "subject" should become selected in the first dropdown box, "genus" should be selected in the second dropdown box, and "dog" should be selected in the third. The problem is, the onchange handler doesn't seem to trigger when the value of the first dropdown box is changed to "subject", and thus the second dropdown box does not get populated with options via AJAX, and so "genus" cannot be selected because the only option in the second dropdown box is the default "select a value in the first box".
Why doesn't the onchange handler trigger when a dropdown box is changed with the following code? [code=text]document.getElementById(destination).value = reloadValuesSubArr[1];[/code] Is this a bug in Javascript? Or am I doing it wrong? Keep in mind that the value of the first dropbox changes without issue, but the onchange handler does not trigger.

I'm still a beginner to javaScript, but I'm trying to write a script for a simple image change using next and previous buttons. The following script works, except that the images do not rotate in the desired order. The script works as long as you don't switch from next to previous, which is when the wrong images are shown.
<html>
<head>
<title>Button Click 12</title>
<style type="text/css">
button {
font-family:georgia;
font-style:italic;
font-size:12px;
font-weight:bold;

border:1px solid red;
background-color:aqua;
display:inline-block;
padding:2px 20px;
margin:0 5px;
} .....

If any of you have a Google home page ...
http://www.google.com/ig
you'll notice that when you click on the drop down arrow graphic for
each module, there is a drop down menu that appears. You can move the
module around the page and the drop down menu always appears under the
arrow.
Does anyone have any recommendations as the best way to do this? I am
grateful for any experiences you have. The key here is relatively
positioning this drop-down menu.

I'm using Walter Zorn's Drag & Drop script on my page: [URL]. The script works just fine. But there is a problem when the visitors are trying to print out their design. All "draggble" elements are getting shifted in relation to the rest of the page (try to move "draggble" elements, and then go to Print Preview to see what happens). The page layout is centered on the screen:
#maincontainer{margin: 0 auto; /*Center container on page*/}
Drag & Drop script recalculates positions of elements from the Top Left corner. If I change margin to left, than everything prints out just fine, without shifting. I'd like to keep my page layout centered on the screen and I know nothing about Java programming. How to make necessary changes to the Drag & Drop script to achieve proper page printing?
Drag & Drop script path: [URL]
CCS path: [URL]

you're going to have to bear with me on this one, I'm not sure if this should be in Jscript or PHP at the moment, I can't get my head around it.
Basically, I have a page, which has 3 standard href links on it. All three links open a PHP powered form on a different page. This form contains a series of checkboxes in an array. Now what I need to achieve is to have certain checkboxes, checked based on the href used on the previous page.
