Assigning Elements To Classes To Control Events
Apr 8, 2011I'm trying to use a javascript class to assign specific event handlers to different elements. I create an object and pass it a reference to the element, and some properties for the event handler to use. When the event fires, I want the handler to reference the properties of the object. But I'm clearly doing something wrong as multiple instances all refer to the most recent object only.

The function is assigned to the onclick event of some elements in the
HTML source:

and dynamically to others:
elRef.onclick = someFunction;
When someFunction() is called from the statically-assigned onclick, el
is a reference to the element. But when it has been added dynamically,
el will be either undefined (IE) or 'event' (Mozilla et al).
To assign the right value to el, I can test if el exists and if it does,
whether its constructor is some type of HTML element or 'Event'. But IE
doesn't support the constructor property for elements (or have I just
not found it yet?) nor does it understand 'Event' the way Mozilla does. Code:

The fields I am trying to change are all named similarly myField1, myField2, myField3.So, my thought is that I would like to use a for loop and loop through the appropriate fields by simply incrementing a variable and appending it to the end of the string "myField" in order to change the appropriate field.How can I evaluate "myField + iterator" into a useable reference to change the value of said field?

Each event is a li item, and I use jQuery to assign the class "no-left-m" (no left margin) to li:nth-child(3n+1) for CSS layout purposes. I've also added the ability to show only events in certain categories. Unfortunately, the initial jQuery assigns the classes to li items from the DOM, and doesn't take into account the show/hide. This means that when I show only a single category, the margins are off.

Aug 26, 2009I have a page with a div that contains other divs. In the outer div, I have links that add new divs inside. I also have a link outside the outer div that adds more of those outer divs to the page (with an inner div, and the same links to add more). This works on the div that is hard coded on the page, but when I use the link to add additional container divs the links inside there to add more inner divs does not function.

Validation is working for fields that existed on the initial page load, but when I add append the code for a new field, the validation events are, of course, not attached to the new DOM elements. What's the best way to accomplish this?

I'm not getting any errors in firebug and by setting breakpoints I've verified we are not reaching the code to execute. Ruling out the usual suspects such as obvious spelling mistakes/ swapping out jquery versions 1.3/1.4/1.5 doesn't make any difference.where else I can look?Here is the original function:

DHTML Events Not Working In IE But Working In Firefox And Chrome?
May 10, 2010I am working on a Javascript application and i am facing a strange behavior of the application in IE. I am creating a table at runtime using DHTML and registering event for the table row click. When i deploy this application on web server and browse the application, the events fires in firefox and chrome but in IE the events are not fired. If i browse the application from the server with localhost, the application triggers the events and fails when i use machine name.

JQuery :: Binding Events To Dynamically Created Elements That Do Don't Exist At All On Page Load
Jul 26, 2010In the examples for live() and delegate(), the selectors match at least one element that already exists. Will either of these commands work on elements for which there is no match at all on page load?
In my case, I want to bind a keyup event to the textareas that jeditable creates. I could probably create custom plug-in (to the plug-in :) to do the job, but I'd like to use live or delegate if they would work.

Now when I click one of those links (href1, href2, href3) generated, the click event won't execute! What's the problem? Also, is it right that I have to transfer the valueOfElement over, like I did? What does stopEventPropagation do? Prevent the href from being navigated to? That's what I am trying to do.

Feb 4, 2011I have a series of images with an animation bound to mouseover and mouseleave events, and I'm trying to get my head around adding a click event that would prevent the mouseleave animation from occurring only for the image that was clicked, preserving everything else as is (until another image is clicked). I've discovered .stop() and I think I'm getting close, but some part of the logic is still escaping me.

A normal assignment results in the second array pointing to the first,
with changes to either array affecting both.
As a trivial example:

.... this results in a and b being identical two-element arrays.
Is there any easy way to set array (b) to be a copy of (a) BY VALUE -
ie using the contents of (a) as they were at the moment of assignment,
but leaving the two arrays separate so that subsequent changes to one
array does not affect the other?

another xml field, the apply button will not work for two fields!

However, in IE, there is this annoying click with every refresh. I googled a bit and saw a few solutions. Seem to me that if I fetched the contents of the HTML file (AJAX call) and assigned it to existing document.
1. How do I assign an entire document in JS?
2. If I did this would this prevent the clicks?
Assigning Value To InnerHTML Of Element
Jan 27, 2009I have a situation where I'm trying to assign a value to an elements innerHTML. When I do this, the value is assigned, but it causes havoc on subsequent javascript calls.I realize this is kind of vague but I'm at my wits end on what to do. I've tried assigning the innerHTML value "NA", just plain text, and it has the same effect.Without being too confusing, I have a table of data inside a <div> where the user can navigate up/down by pressing the <enter> key, pg up/pg dn and arrow up/arrow down. When they move from record to record, I'm highlighting the new row and "de-highlighting" the old row. The row has many fields but only one fill in field which is where the user enters the quantity of the item to be ordered. This is on a local network using the Firefox browser.
Without the above line, all is well. When I use the above line, it messes up the highlighting of the row but also makes the fill-in field "appear" disabled. What I mean by that is when you type a number, you don't see the value change (even though the field has focus and the value is selected) but once you leave that line, the value you typed then appears in the fill in. Normally the value will change as you type a new value.

If the user is not logged in they are redirected to the login.php page.What I would like to do is redirect them to the PHP page but also grab the URL they were previously on and assign it to a hidden field in the login.php so that I can redirect them back to the page they were on while keeping the URL bar clean.Problem, I know that PHP cannot recognize a hash [URL] so I would need to grab the url through javascript instead of PHP.
