I have a site that runs a javascript slideshow automatically when a user visits it. It is designed in such a way that I cannot pre-load individual images for aesthetic reasons. (Also the whole concept makes my brain hurt.) I therefore need 1 of 2 things:
1. A preloader that doesn't show the page or start the slideshow until all the images are loaded.
or
2. I could start with the slideshow paused, and when the page is fully loaded, the play command (currently attached to a 'play' button) is 'sent'.
(I'm not techy, so this is the best I can do as explanation.) The latter would probably be more elegant, especially if ultimately I could hide the controls for the slideshow with a loading bar until all the html is loaded, and then show them when the slideshow starts.
I have an embedded font in my CSS however somtimes the texts loads before the font loads (i.e. the text is loaded in a normal font the it changes after). Is there anyway i can say dont load page until the font file is loaded, or maybe dont show the div until the font is loaded?
I have a php page its only work is to display a swf file and after a period of time it redirect automatically to another page. The problem is when the php page loads the swf plays slowly.
What I nead the php file is to wait untill the swf file is fully loaded then play it so it will be played normally in normal speed?
Any way to wait until it is fully loaded <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#featured > ul").tabs({fx:{opacity: "toggle"}}).tabs("rotate", 4000, true); }); </script>
I'm coding in Dreamweaver CS3 on a Mac, and am running latest Firefox I am in the DOM chapter of SitePoint's "Simply Javascript", where I'm learning how javascript references elements/nodes from the html (much like CSS) PROBLEM: I am failing to receive browser alerts in the following situation
[Code]...
I'm expecting to get browser alerts saying 'p' and 'this is a test of js...', respectively I get nothing, and nothing on refresh NOTE: when I leave the .properties off target, i do get an alert that reads 'null' Q. is my .js running before the HTML has completely loaded? oorrr am i missing something really basic?
i have been working with jquery dialog for a while and am stuck on a new problem today.when i load a dialog, it is running the button functions when the dialog is opened.
I have report that takes about 5-10 seconds to generate depending on the load. I want to show the user a progress bar while it is being generated and when it's done, forward the browser to the report.
Trying to figure out how to get my simple page re-load to pause for a couple seconds before sending the request. I tried $.wait() and think this could possibly be what I need but seem to not be using it correctly, as I have not had any success getting it to work.
[Code]...
Is there a specific place to put the $.wait()? or should I be using something different entirely to get the script to pause before sending the request to reload?
I am trying reload a div on a page with content from another page using ajax.I am able to do this but the problem is that I need to wait for the page (that I am sending an ajax request to) to finish inputing all the relevant html before it is shown on the page calling the ajax otherwise the re-load of the div will not be up-to-date.
If you look on the right panel, at the heading "What our clients / journalists say", you will notice that it fades into another set of text. However when the page first loads because it takes a few seconds loading in the twitter feed, you will see a big lump of text running down the page.
Only when the Twitter feed has loaded does the lump of text disappear. Can i overcome this somehow?
Heres the problem: I am running two javascripts on the same page and they are interfering with eachother b/c of the <body= onload handler... what do i need to do these so both will run without interference?? Heres how the page looks from step 1.
I don't really know javascript, and I am trying to add two different jquery scripts I downloaded to the same page.The Problem is whichever one I place first in order doesn't work on the web page, only the one placed beneath the other one works. So I can't get them both to work. Anyone know how I can get them to both work?
I have a javascript program where i want users to press a button and on the same page it opens a search engine box. but when i do this it goes wrong, it just opens the search box on a blank page. Heres an example[code]...
I am developing an application and need to be able to use either JavaScript or PHP to request a page, add code to the end of it, and thenopen it for the user.What I want:
I am having some issues running some ads coming from a database not showing up on my page it doesnt show anything at all im not sure what i have done wrong?i cud have it statically written in but it would be easier if i did it that way of getting the urls stored in a database.this is my php code along with javascript code inside my php code.
PHP Code: include("dbconnect.php"); $rQ="SELECT * FROM banner";
I want to do a similar effect on my site as this site has doneWith the times of the cities running along the top of my page. Their whole site is built in tables and has an insane amount of javascript in the head so I am guessing the site is quite out of date.Is there a easier/simpler/cleaner way to do this? Maybe using jQuery?
I am working on a page that will load in other pages using AJAX and the .html method. Something like this :
<span id = "edit">Edit</span> <div id = "cont"> </div> //the click edit script
[Code]....
Unfortunately this does not seem to work, entirely. It does trigger the click event but it messes up the post for some reason. I have played around with it for the last 45 minutes or so and it seems like the click event trigger is what is messing things up, if I comment it out it works fine. Could anyone tell me why they think this is? note this is an over simplified version of my actual code, but the structure is the same.
On my webpage, I dynamically create an iFrame when a button is pressed, then load a html page from within my own domain into the iframe, based on what html page is loaded into a variable. My question is, can I dynamically change the font family of the loaded html page from the javascript of the main page? My code to create the iframe is:
function setSubTxt(){ var par = document.getElementById('parentDiv'); par.innerHTML = '<iframe src="'+subTxt+'" style="width: 375px; position: fixed; height: 365px; left: 400px; top: 145px; border=none;" name="subIframe" frameBorder=0></iframe>'; frames['subIframe'].window.location=subTxt; document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; [Code]....
the variable "subTxt" has the url of the html page to be loaded (always on the same domain). The code: document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; was my attempt to dynamically change the font, but it didn't work. Also, it should be noted that there is no font family set in the html pages which would override this.
I have a select drop down that triggers a change event to update my database. I am new at programming, so hopefully I am overlooking something obvious. My Jquery code actually works as desired to update the database, but when I try to add a overlayed "loading, please wait" message to the user, I can't get it to turn off and the page freezes. debugging the javascript in Firebug, It seems this code returns a 404 status, so it makes sense to me that my overlay will not turn off, but seems strange that the code updates the database as desired. what is wrong with this code? How can I get the overlay to turn off?
There is many examples of PageLoader's etc. in the web, but I can't find a script like facebook (and many other sites) uses. When a link is cliked -> user stays at current page and get's "Page loading" etc. notice until the next page is fully downloaded.In other words; When I click a link (Internet Explorer), I get first "a white page" until next page show's ..I want, that the page does not go white at all, but current page show's until the next page is fully downloaded.
I'm trying to load a page using the .load(url) from an already loaded page, but nothing responds. Below is a simple sample page created to show what I want to accomplish. Also, I'm using JQuery 1.3.
index.html
When the index.html page loads up, the page01.html loads into #mainview. And when I try to click on the <div id="clickme">Click Me!</div> inside page01.html to load page02.html, nothing works. Just can't figure out what's wrong...
I have created two pages, the first page is stored in a free public web server, and the second one is stored in a personal computer. This computer is not allways on, so, sometimes, the page could not load.
I want to create a "Zero" page that checks if the second page is accesible (and if it is, then redirect). And if the page is not accesible then redirect to the public server.
